DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: The Yeti biography

I bet you didn’t expect this. Yes, Karl Stern vs. The Yeti.

I saw the debut of The Yeti in WCW and am also a fan of giant tall wrestlers. I may be the only one, but this gimmick was something that straight out of Memphis wrestling, only it was on national TV.

Ron Reis was the man under The Yeti outfit but instead of looking like an abominable snowman, he was a mummy.

None of this makes sense so listen to the show and I’ll unpack it for you. You won’t regret it.

Tammy “Sunny” Sytch has reportedly been involved in a car accident in Florida that has claimed the life of a 75-year-old man.

Sytch has been in the news repeatedly over the last few years for multiple DUI’s and other offenses, and media reports say this fatal accident may have also included alcohol. I am going to answer as many questions as possible from the F4W Board that have been posted based on my near 30 years in law enforcement to help us all hopefully better understand what is going on here.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: Rick Rude’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter biography

In April 1999, 40-year-old Rick Rude was found dead in his home.

Generally speaking, super fit 40-year-olds don’t just die of natural causes. So what happened to the former WWF Intercontinental champion?

In this week’s DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show, I look at that week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter and how Dave Meltzer discussed the life, death, injuries, and career of a man who wrestled in Florida, WCCW, Memphis, Crockett, WCW, WWF, ECW, and WCW and was a star in every place.

This is the story of WWE Hall of Famer “Ravishing” Rick Rude.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Saga: The origin of the Midnight Express, part 2

I return with another DragonKingKarl mega-show in our Saga series, continuing to look back at a tag team many consider the greatest of all time: the Midnight Express.

As I wrote last week, if you think the Midnight Express is only Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton or Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane or if you think Jim Cornette has always been part of the formula, you would be mistaken.

The Midnights were already a highly decorated veteran unit before Cornette ever came along. With founding members Dennis Condrey, Randy Rose, and Norvell Austin, the Midnights ran rampant as the top heels in two different territories long before Mid-South.

Learn more about that plus members you never knew existed (Honky Tonk Man?) in this second part of the series. Check out part one if you haven’t already.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: A look back at WCW’s Renegade

On this week’s DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show, we look at the late Renegade of WCW fame, using his Wrestling Observer Newsletter obituary as a guide.

Formerly known as Rio Lord of the Jungle, Richard Wilson was brought into WCW by Hulk Hogan and the creative team when they failed to get Ultimate Warrior (Jim Hellwig) to sign so Hogan could “get his win back” from WrestleMania VI.

Even as far as Dollar General knockoffs goes, the Renegade gimmick was pretty embarrassing. This, and other matters, took a personal toll on Wilson who committed suicide at the age of 33.
