NXT Louisville, KY, live results: DIY defend their titles against SAnitY

Submitted by reader Noah Dalton

– Gran Metalik defeated Noam Dar

Dar was able to get some pretty good heat early on in this cruiserweight showcase match by shutting Metalik down and saying “No lucha.” After getting beat up most of the match, Metalik made his comeback and won with a Metalik Driver.

– Ember Moon defeated Mandy Rose

Early on Rose rolled to the outside, prompting Moon to call her a chicken which caused chicken chants throughout the match. Moon won with the top rope stunner.

– A video of DIY was shown, where they talked about why they liked Kentucky.

– The Authors of Pain defeated Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight)

AOP got an alright reaction but there wasn’t much of anything at first for Heavy Machinery. Dozovic really got himself over with the crowd in this match and looked pretty impressive. After he got a hot tag and ran wild for a bit, AOP hit their finish on him and pinned him. Heavy Machinery got a standing ovation on their way to the back.

– Elias Samson defeated Oney Lorcan

The Drifter came out to a mixed but mostly negative reaction. He then sang a song about why Kentucky was bad and the mixed reaction turned quite sour quickly. Oney Lorcan interrupted him to a pretty good pop, and then grabbed a mic and said “Drifter, you suck.”

They had an okay match in which the highlight was when The Drifter went outside while Lorcan was down and grabbed his guitar and began to play another song. Lorcan interrupted with an uppercut and took the guitar in the ring, then threatened to smash it. Not too long after he regained control of his guitar, The Drifter hit his finish and pinned Lorcan.

– NXT Women’s Champion Asuka defeated Peyton Royce w/ Billie Kay to retain her title

The crowd was super hot for Asuka. She dominated early until Kay interfered, giving Royce the upper hand. After getting beat up for a bit due to more interference, Asuka made her comeback and took down both and won with an Asuka Lock.

– NXT Tag Team Champions DIY defeated SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe & Killian Dain) to retain their titles

DIY got a great reaction and the crowd was behind them solidly the whole time. Tommaso Ciampa had the upper hand on Wolfe early on, until Wolfe was able to tag in Dain who quickly took control.

SAnitY took turns beating up Ciampa for a while with help from Nikki Cross who was at ringside with Eric Young. Eventually, Johnny Gargano got the tag and ran wild on Wolfe. Cross tried to interfere again but was ejected. Dain tried to stop Gargano but was tripped outside. DIY hit their finish on Wolfe and pinned him.

– Eric Young defeated Patrick Clark

Young sent Dain and Wolfe to the back to “watch him lead by example.” He said no one in the back could even last 20 seconds with him, which prompted Clark to come out. He came out to a very cold reaction; I don’t think people really knew him very well.

This was an okay match, with EY dominating most of it. Clark went for his comeback and went up top for a move when the rest of SAnitY ran down and pushed him off the top rope. EY hit the wheelbarrow neckbreaker for the win.

– NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura & Roderick Strong defeated Samoa Joe & Bobby Roode

Joe came out first to a pretty big babyface style reaction. Next was Roode with an even better babyface reaction. Strong came out next and got what was definitely the weakest reaction of all the guys in the main event. Nakamura came out last and got the best reaction of the night by far.

Strong and Joe started off the match but Joe quickly tagged in Roode. He got the upped hand initially on Roddy and the crowd was dying for Nakamura. Strong and Nakamura teased the tag for a while before it was finally made.

Nakamura and Roode really played up to the crowd when they were in the ring with each other. Neither guy really did much but the crowd went crazy for everything both guys did. Roode eventually tagged Joe back in and Nakamura tagged in Strong. After Joe beat him up for a while, Roddy finally tagged Nakamura back in. Nakamura eventually hit a Kinshasa on Joe for the win.

WWE NXT results: DIY put their titles on the line against The Revival

The Big News: Mr. Regal made DIY vs. The Authors of Pain official for NXT TakeOver: San Antonio.

The Medium News: DIY defeated The Revival in an excellent main event.

The Little Beaver-sized News: Asuka got beat up by Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Nikki Cross.

**********

We kicked off the show with footage from earlier today with Billie Kay and Peyton Royce attacking Asuka outside the arena, slamming her into a nearby van, and pouring water on her.

Billie Kay & Peyton Royce defeated Macy Evans & Sarah Bridges

The ladies got done beating up Asuka and entered the arena for their match here. This was a showcase for the heel duo. Evans got beat up all over the ring, but was able to make the tag to Bridges. Bridges looked good for a minute, but got cut off and pinned after Royce hit a bulldog onto Kay’s knee.

Kay and Royce again made a challenge to Asuka after the match. They said her title belonged to them and they are the most dominant force in the division.

Both ladies suddenly looked on in surprise as Asuka dragged herself to the ring. Kay and Royce put the boots to her until she was saved by Nikki Cross, of all people. Cross sent them packing, but then gave Asuka a middle rope dropkick! Asuka may have some competition.

**********

Backstage, Nikki Cross declared that she will take the NXT Women’s Championship. Damo was seen watching SAnitY from afar.

**********

Elias Samson defeated Jonathan Cruz

Cruz got a couple roll-ups for a near fall, but other than that he spent this match getting destroyed. The Drifter tried to pull Cruz through the ring post, and when that didn’t work he gave him a running knee to the head.

Samson picked up the win with the Roll of the Dice.

**********

Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Oney Lorcan

This is a rematch from Osaka, where Lorcan defeated Almas. Almas did not take this match seriously until Lorcan hit him with a dropkick while Almas was relaxing on the ropes. Lorcan hit a blockbuster outside the ring before Almas took over inside of it. Almas almost won with a dropkick to the face and turned the kick out into an armbreaker.

Lorcan made his comeback, missed the running blockbuster in the ring, but hit a running Alabama slam into the turnbuckles. However, Almas picked up the win with a low dropkick and a hammerlock DDT.

Almas cut a promo after the match saying 2017 will be his year and screamed at the crowd to shut up.

**********

Tom Phillips sat down with NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura earlier today. Nakamura said the matches with Joe were tough, but he’s proud to still be champion. He said he liked Bobby Roode. Roode is good looking, he’s a good wrestler, but he’s not strong and he’s not going to be the NXT Champion.

The interview ended with Nakamura being handed Roode’s ticket stub from NXT TakeOver: Dallas.

It was announced that we we will have a contract signing for Nakamura vs. Roode on next week’s show.

NXT Tag Team Champions DIY defeated The Revival to retain their titles

These two teams faced off at TakeOver: Brooklyn, with Revival winning and then DIY won the rematch in Toronto. If you include TV matches, DIY also won a match back in May and then won a match in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic by forfeit.

The Revival got the heat on Johnny Gargano, working over his knee in the same way they have in their prior two matches. Gargano fought. crawled, scratched, and got ever so close to the tag. Gargano seemed to finally have his moment, but when he dove for the tag, Scott Dawson came out of nowhere with a pounce!

Gargano was able to get to the ropes to break up a half crab. Dash Wilder mocked Gargano, so Johnny Wrestling hit an enzuigiri and made the hot tag. Tommaso Ciampa ran wild on both men, with the fans chanting “psycho killer.” Revival did make a brief comeback when Dawson hit a clothesline on Ciampa so hard that Ciampa’s kids felt it.

Ciampa got on the armbreaker, but Dawson threw Gargano into the pile. Revival went for the Shatter Machine, but Ciampa speared Dash and Dawson got a near fall with a roll-up. Gargano hit a suicide dive to Dawson while Ciampa hit a running knee off the apron to Dash.

After a series of reversals, Dawson got the nearest of near falls with a DDT to Ciampa. Finally, DIY won with the running knees to both men!

DIY has retained their titles, but is their luck up? In 17 days at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio they will face the winners of the Dusty Classic, the Authors of Pain.

Speaking of the number one contenders, Paul Ellering came out to distract the champs and the AOP ran through the crowd to attack Gargano and Ciampa! They hit the Super Collider and laid out DIY with multiple powerbombs.

**********

Before the show could end, Mr. Regal was in his office and announced (after originally announcing it a month ago) that DIY will defend against the Authors of Pain in San Antonio. Then he announced a contract signing for Roode vs. Nakamura next week, which we found out 20 minutes ago.

We did get some new information as Asuka broke down the door and demanded a title match against “all of them,” implying a fatal four-way at TakeOver.

That does it for this week. Thank you all for reading, and until next week remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers!

WWE NXT results: DIY vs. TM61 in Melbourne

The Big News: For the second time in a month, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Samoa Joe in a steel cage match. It’s almost as if they re-aired the same match.

The Medium News: DIY beat the locals for the second week in a row, this time beating TM61.

The Little Beaver-sized News: Multiple times during the show the announcers told off the crowd for chanting “10” during inappropriate times.

*********

The Revival defeated Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli

The only two-time NXT Tag Team Champions kicked things off this week. The top guys squared off with Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli, who took part in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in a losing effort against TM61.

Moss started things off with Dawson and got a very close near fall in the first two minutes of the match with a roll-up.

Moss and Sabbatelli’s timing was all over the place as teammates, to the point that they were either running into each other or needing to slow down as the other hadn’t set up their next move yet. Despite being the more popular team, Revival got the heat on Moss. Sabbatelli got the hot tag, which the fans booed. He ran wild while the fans ran mild.

The finish saw Moss and Sabbatelli get a bunch of near falls in an effort to give them some degree of credibility. The fans didn’t quite buy it, but they did celebrate when Revival hit the Shatter Machine for the win.

*********

Tye Dillinger & Buddy Murphy defeated Bobby Roode & Elias Samson

Just in case you were worried that NXT heels were too popular, here is Elias Samson, who the fans were all over with chants. Buddy Murphy got a nice reaction in his hometown, but it was sadly the weakest of everyone in the match.

Murphy and Roode worked well together. As soon as Dillinger tagged in, Roode tagged out. They mentioned Dillinger was on a losing streak, so we’re either not including his win over Eric Young a few weeks ago or are considering this outside of the chronological order of the show. Dillinger tossed Roode off the top rope a few minutes later, so Roode was a-ok wrestling Dillinger at that point.

Roode went for the 10 punches, but the fans constantly chanted “one” at him. Roode got down to mock the crowd, so Dillinger took his head off with a superkick and then made a hot tag to Murphy. Murphy and Dillinger ran wild on the heels and Dillinger pinned Samson with the Tye Breaker.

*********

Ember Moon defeated Liv Morgan and Billie Kay in a triple threat match

Billie Kay, from Sydney, got a bigger reaction in Melbourne than Buddy Murphy from Melbourne. Morgan did her rolling body scissors that she did last week, and just like last week the referee dropped for a one count during the nano-second Kay’s shoulders were down.

We got a spot where Morgan went for a cover on Kay, but she kicked out with authority and Morgan fell on Moon. When Moon kicked out she fell on Kay. This continued for five or six rotations until Moon grew tired of these shenanigans. Kay threw Morgan outside the ring and she landed awkwardly on Moon.

Moon used a back handspring punch in the face and climbed the turnbuckles. Morgan climbed up after, but Kay powerbombed her off the top and then Moon pinned Kay with The Eclipse.

*********

NXT Tag Team Champions DIY defeated TM61

Can TM61 come home, climb the proverbial mountain, and become the reigning, undisputed NXT Tag Team Champions?

Spoiler: No.

The fans’ excitement for TM61 seemed to go in and out during the match. Hour two of the show kicked off with Shane Thorne going for some kind of back handspring move, but Tommaso Ciampa kicked him in the face.

Johnny Gargano ran wild, but when he went for the tag, Ciampa was injured on the floor outside, so Gargano did a tornado DDT on Nick Miller, running off Thorne. In a double team move, Miller gave Thorne a sit-down powerbomb while he was giving Ciampa a superplex. It wasn’t really explained why except maybe more power on the superplex?

The match got very good at the finish, as TM61 got a lot of false finishes before doing the job at the end. Unlike with Moss and Sabbatelli earlier, the fans thought there was a chance TM61 would win.

After the match, the fans gave the challengers a standing ovation, so DIY came back down and shook their hands.

Next week:

  • Asuka is in action
  • DIY vs. The Revival for the tag titles

*********

NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Samoa Joe in a steel cage match to retain his title

Much like last week, this was the complete match and not the edited version that aired a few weeks ago. Unlike last week, the whole match didn’t necessarily make it any better.

I suddenly understood why the middle of this match was edited out the first time when the crowd was so quiet that one person tried to get a “Let’s go Cena/Cena sucks” chant by himself. That was followed by a “We want blood” chant from five people.

So that does it for this week. Next week we are back to normal as we return to Full Sail University. Until then, thank you all for reading and remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers!

WWE NXT results: Matches from Osaka, Japan

The Big News: Shinsuke Nakamura has unbelievably won the NXT Championship…oh wait. I’ve said that before.

The Medium News: DIY defeated Akira Tozawa & Tajiri in the show stealer.

The Little Beaver-sized News: Nia Jax may be unstoppable on Raw, but Asuka easily stops her on NXT, as the Empress of Tomorrow beat Jax for the second time.

**********

So before we begin this week, will it ever be explained why the shows aired in the order they did? Why didn’t they air Osaka on the 14th, Australia on the 21st, and the shows that aired those two weeks afterwards? Instead, I get to review shows out of chronological order and whose results have already been talked about on TV.

**********

Oney Lorcan defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas

This is a rematch from the dark match from NXT TakeOver: Dallas, when they were known as Manny Andrade and Chris Girard.

Almas came out in his La Sombra mask before unmasking for the match. If you are a fan of chinlocks and headlocks, then the first half of this match is the match for you. Both men made excessive use of rest holds. Things picked up when they finally stood up. Lorcan hit a running blockbuster for a two count.

The fans were very much into this match once the men stopped with the rest holds. Lorcan did several corner charges, but on the third one he got hip tossed into the corner. Lorcan used an exploder suplex from the top rope to get the win.

That was surprising. Lorcan now has wins over Almas and Tye Dillinger.

**********

Peyton Royce & Billie Kay defeated Liv Morgan & Aliyah

This match seemed at times to be an excuse for Corey Graves to tell every New Jersey joke he knows. Morgan took Royce for a ride when she slapped on a body scissors and then rolled all over the ring, getting about a dozen one-counts during the second that Royce’s shoulder was on the mat.

The heels got the heat on Aliyah. After what seemed like hours of getting the heat, Morgan got the hot tag and ran wild on both ladies. Aliyah, who just got her butt kicked for two weeks, ran back in like a house on fire. It didn’t matter, however. Aliyah got thrown out of the ring and Kay pinned Morgan after a bulldog onto Royce’s knee.

Has anyone else noticed Aliyah fails at almost everything she tries on TV?

**********

NXT Tag Team Champions DIY defeated Tajiri & Akira Tozawa to retain their titles

This was the first match where it seemed like the wrestlers involved were going out of their way to have a great match, as opposed to a house show match.

Tozawa, who has yet to have a match on 205 Live, is here teaming with Tajiri to challenge for the seven pounds of gold. All four men worked as babyfaces. Tozawa at times was more of a tweener, but never a full blown heel.

Tozawa and Ciampa traded hard knife edge chops, much to the delight of the crowd. A four-way brawl broke out with Tozawa hitting multiple suicide dives to the champions on the outside. Tozawa actually took most of the match for his team. Tajiri would get in here and there, but it was mostly his partner. Tajiri did get Gargano down and go for the Kick of Death, but Gargano rolled out of the way and kicked Tajiri in the head.

Tozawa used a deadlift delayed German suplex and a bicycle kick to the back of Ciampa’s head, but Ciampa took his head off with a clothesline and a powerbomb onto his knees. Finally, DIY retained the gold with the running knees to Tozawa.

**********

NXT Women’s Champion Asuka defeated Nia Jax to retain her title

Jax was unsuccessful in her first attempt at defeating the Empress of Tomorrow, back at NXT TakeOver: The End, but will tonight be her night?

Spoiler: No. No, it won’t.

They tried to work a match that made you think Jax had a chance, but no one believed that she would be taking the title to Raw. The match was solid, but again, nothing you wouldn’t see at a house show. They did have a rough spot in the middle where Jax went for a Samoan drop but something went wrong and they fell on each other.

Asuka got on a kneebar that Jax sold like near death…until she got out of it. Then it was like it never happened. The Japanese crowd watches too much NXT, as when Asuka was being counted out they chanted “10” for each number.

Asuka went for every submission she knows, but Jax not only didn’t tap, but somehow turned a triangle choke into a powerbomb. Asuka moved out of the way of a corner splash and chopped down Jax, before winning with a roundhouse kick.

**********

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated NXT Champion Samoa Joe to win the title

They aired the full match this time, as opposed to the condensed version that they did three weeks ago. At one point, Joe removed the top half of the steps outside the ring, which wasn’t aired the first time and they eventually came back to it later. Joe worked over the knees of Nakamura, which made the match make more sense.

The match was better the second time around, as you got to see everything, as opposed to earlier. Nakamura won with the Kinshasa to win the NXT Championship for the second time.

Until next week, thank you all for reading and remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers!

NXT Newcastle, Australia, live results: DIY vs. The Revival

Submitted by reader Rimas Veselis

– TM61 defeated Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli

Shane Thorne won with a roll-up at 7:21. Sabbatelli had good heat with the crowd in what was a basic tag match to start off the night. TM61 were cheered heavily due to being Australian.

– Patrick Clark defeated Wesley Blake

The crowd was quiet for most of the match. There were chants of “Tyler Breeze” at Blake due to his appearance. The crowd fired up towards the end and Clark won with the top rope elbow drop at 6:10.

– Ember Moon defeated Aliyah

This was a good, fun match. Neither worked the face/heel dynamic and both were getting chants. They worked really well together here and Moon won with the diving top rope stunner at 10:24.

– NXT Tag Team Champions DIY defeated The Revival to retain their titles

The Revival got cheap heat before the match for faking the t-shirt throw into the crowd. A lot of playing to the crowd at the start of the match. Both teams took it pretty easy in this one, but it was still an enjoyable match. Johnny Gargano made Dash Wilder tap to the Gargano Escape to retain the titles at the 14:31 mark.

– NXT Women’s Champion Asuka defeated Peyton Royce to retain her title

Basic match. The crowd sung the Australian national anthem during the middle of the match. Asuka won with a kick while Royce was sitting up on the mat at 10:40.

– Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Akira Tozawa

Really fun match, it was the match of the night for me. The crowd was chanting throughout the match. Tozawa was really over with the crowd and got a reaction for nearly everything he did. He did two suicide dives to Almas which was the best action of the night. Almas won with the hammerlock DDT at 13.02.

– NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, Tye Dillinger & Buddy Murphy defeated Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode & Elias Samson

The Drifter did his guitar stuff before the others came out. He started playing an ACDC song, then stopped and said that it sucked. Lots of comedy in this match with Murphy and Roode doing most of the work. Joe and Nakamura didn’t really do much, but it was a fun main event. Nakamura got the pinfall with the Kinshasa at 17:40.

Buddy Murphy went around the ring to take photos with the fans to end the show.

NXT TV taping spoilers: A new number one contender is crowned

Pre-show —

– A Percy Watson video package was shown and he was then introduced as the third man at the announce desk.

– Tian Bing defeated Beautiful Blonde Blake in a quick warm up match.

TV tapings —

– DIY came out for their tag title celebration. They went into the crowd to celebrate with the fans. The Authors of Pain’s music hit the moment DIY grabbed the mics. The Revival’s music then came on, but they avoided AoP on the stage. They said they wanted another shot at the tag titles but AoP shoved them. Ellering and the big men backed away and The Revival slowly made their way to the back as well.

– SAnitY defeated No Way Jose & Rich Swann

Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe were the pair in action here. They got the heat on Swann before Jose took a hot tag to run wild. Swann did a backflip on to Wolfe on the outside. Big Damo then appeared from the crowd and hammered Jose who was then rolled in the ring and pinned. Damo threw down Fulton’s coat on the ramp after the match.

– Ember Moon defeated Kimber Lee

Moon hit the jumping top rope stunner for the win.

– Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight defeated two enhancement talents

Heavy Machinery hit their big slam to get the victory.

– Tye Dillinger defeated Eric Young via DQ in a number one contenders fatal four-way qualifying match

Four matches will be taped with the winners advancing to a number one contenders fatal four-way later. Nikki Cross jumped Dillinger from behind to cause the DQ. After Dillinger cleared the ring, Big Damo came from the crowd and destroyed him.

– Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated No Way Jose in a number one contenders fatal four way qualifying match

Almas was no nonsense and hit his leg sweep DDT for the win.

– Roderick Strong defeated Elias Samson in the third of four qualifying matches

The crowd was all over The Drifter, telling him to drift away and drift forever. Strong won with the sick kick.

– Bobby Roode defeated Oney Lorcan in the final of the four qualifying matches

This was a hard-hitting match with Lorcan delivering uppercuts and Roode scoring the win with an impaler DDT.

– Peyton Royce w/ Billie Kay defeated Sara Bridges (the former Crazy Mary Dobson)

Royce won in a quick match.

– Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Patrick Clark

Nakamura hit the Kinshasa to cap off an entertaining match.

– Billie Kay w/ Peyton Royce defeated Daria Berenato

Royce interfered behind the ref’s back to allow Kay to get the win.

– The Authors of Pain defeated two enhancement talents via ref stoppage

One of their opponents got knocked out cold during the match.

– Bobby Roode defeated Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, and Andrade “Cien” Almas in a fatal four-way elimination match to earn a title shot at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio

This was a great match. It was elimination style with Strong hitting a sick kick to eliminate Almas, Dillinger hitting the Tye Breaker to get rid of Strong, and finally Roode hitting the impaler DDT on Dillinger to get the win.

– NXT Tag Team Champions DIY defeated The Revival to retain their titles

There were early heel tricks and foul play by The Revival to keep the advantage. DIY hit their double team kick and knee to win what was a well-paced match and sent everyone home happy.
