Dani Palmer announces WWE departure

Another WWE departure has been confirmed.

Dani Palmer is no longer with the company. She had recently appeared on episodes of EVOLVE. The 27-year-old revealed the news on Saturday and stated that this marks the end of her athletic career.

She wrote:

“Thank you WWE for bringing me to the love of my life🤍 the past 3 years have been amazing! It’s a bittersweet feeling to be officially closing out my athletic career, but I can truly say I went til the wheels fell off..literally lol. Our bodies are a gift and mine has been so kind to me. I look forward to this next chapter!! Gods been giving me some big dreams with bringing my business back and I couldn’t be more stoked about it! Thank you all for the support.”

Several WWE talents offered support to Palmer in response to her post.

“Hope to see you again soon dani!!” Cathy Kelley wrote.

“Love you Dani. Was a pleasure!” Jade Cargill wrote.

Palmer was out of action for eight months after undergoing double hip surgery in 2024.

Real name Alexsis “AJ” Amrhein, she was a national champion in tumbling and acrobatics at Baylor University prior to signing with WWE. Palmer joined the company in 2022 and had her in-ring debut later that year at an NXT live event.

At the time of her signing, WWE wrote:

“AJ Amrhein is a well-renowned fitness instructor from Scottsburg, Ind., and a former tumbler on the prestigious Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling team. Amrhein is a three-time national champion with The Bears and was named the 2020 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.”

WWE NXT wrestler Dani Palmer undergoing double hip surgery

WWE NXT wrestler Dani Palmer is starting on her road to recovery after undergoing the first of two hip surgeries.

Palmer made an Instagram post on Wednesday revealing that she needs to have double hip surgery. The first surgery was done on Wednesday and went “fantastic.” She’ll be undergoing the second surgery later this year.

Palmer wrote:

Jeremiah 29:11. This year so far has been chaotic…scary but BEAUTIFUL…and nothing like the plan I had in mind for 2024…but I have a peace that makes no sense because I know the author of my story. I have to have a double hip surgery this year, and God is great because I knocked the first one out this morning and it went fantastic! Thank you everyone for all the prayers.

Before signing with WWE in 2022, Palmer (real name AJ Amrhein) was a fitness instructor. She’s a former tumbler for Baylor University and was named their Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2020.

Palmer debuted for WWE on NXT Level Up in November 2022. She started on NXT television in 2023. In last year’s Women’s Breakout Tournament, Palmer lost to Lola Vice in the first round.

Women’s Breakout Tournament match set for WWE NXT

WWE has made a new match announcement for tonight’s episode of NXT.

Lola Vice vs. Dani Palmer is set to take place on NXT tonight. It’s a first-round match in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

Vice is former Bellator MMA fighter Valerie Loureda.

The Breakout Tournament began with Kelani Jordan defeating Izzi Dame last week. Jordan will face either Arianna Grace or Jakara Jackson in the semifinals.

The winner of Vice vs. Palmer will advance to face either Karmen Petrovic or Jaida Parker in the semifinals.

The Breakout Tournament spotlights up-and-coming wrestlers in the NXT women’s division. A future title shot will be given to the winner of the tournament.

NXT has a stacked lineup tonight with appearances by John Cena, Paul Heyman, Cody Rhodes, and Asuka announced. WWE is also teasing that The Undertaker will be appearing on NXT. The episode is going head-to-head with AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday.

Blair Davenport vs. Dani Palmer set for WWE NXT

After being revealed as the mystery attacker last Tuesday, Blair Davenport will return to in-ring action on this Tuesday’s WWE NXT against Dani Palmer.

Palmer became the latest victim of the masked and fully concealed Davenport. This past Tuesday, Palmer demanded the attacker reveal themselves and while distracted by a video, Davenport attacked Palmer from behind and revealed herself.

The 27-year-old Davenport has been off TV after failing to win the unified NXT Women’s title at last September’s Worlds Collide between then-NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and then-NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura.

Palmer has been undefeated in her last six overall matches with her last televised singles win coming over Tatum Paxley last month.

Oba Femi, Dani Palmer, Tank Ledger coming to WWE NXT

Three new stars are set to debut soon on NXT.

During Tuesday’s show, a video was shown saying that Dani Palmer, Tank Ledger, and Oba Femi are all “coming soon” to NXT. All three have previously had matches on NXT’s secondary show, Level Up.

Ledger is Joe Spivak, a former defensive lineman for Northwestern University. He signed a NIL deal with WWE in December of 2021. His first match was on the October 11, 2022 edition of NXT Level Up, where he teamed with Ikemen Jiro to defeate Bryson Montana and Duke Hudson. Femi, real name Issac Odugbesan, is a Nigerian Track and Field athlete from the University of Alabama and is also a former NIL talent. His first match was a loss to Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo on aNovember 11, 2022 NXT house show event in Dade City.

Palmer (AJ Amrhein) is a former fitness instructor and tumbler on the Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling team. She made her debut back in September of 2022, teaming with Arianna Grace and Kiana James in a losing effort against Fallon Henley, Thea Hail, and Valentina Feroz.
