AEW Continental Classic standings & results following this week’s Dynamite

Another Dynamite and another two Gold league matches are complete in this year’s AEW Continental Classic.

Former TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher battled “Speedball” Mike Bailey in a physical bout that saw Bailey pick up the upset victory with less than one minute to go to earn his first points of the tournament.

The match itself saw a bodyslam on the ring barricade by Fletcher and a double knee drop off a reverse somersault by Bailey. In the end, the two were in a sequence of pin attempts when Bailey ensnared Fletcher to get the win. Bailey survived a sheer drop brain buster after a power bomb on the apron and running kick and narrowly avoided a second brain buster.

Fletcher took a flurry of offense and near falls including an Ultimo Weapon that nearly finished it in the final minutes. Bailey was game, kicking out of a three-move combo that included a lawn dart throw into the middle turnbuckle and a power bomb. Fletcher now remains stuck at six points.

Earlier in the night, reigning Continental Classic winner Kazuchika Okada defeated recent rival Jack Perry in Perry’s first match of the tournament after being added as an injury sub for Darby Allin last week.

Okada now joins the six point club along with Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita and Claudio Castagnoli. Perry will have three more shots at getting in the winner’s circle.
