Josh Alexander vs. Eddie Edwards World title match set for Impact Bound For Glory

Eddie Edwards will have his opportunity at regaining the Impact World title after winning a six-way elimination match Thursday on AXS TV.

He now moves on to face Josh Alexander for the title at Bound For Glory on Friday, October 7th.

Edwards won the bout by pinning Rich Swann, another former World Champion. The final two men in the match battled before Edwards hit his Die Hard driver to finally get the pin.

The match also featured former champions Sami Callihan and Moose in addition to Bandido and Steve Maclin.

Edwards will be looking for his third title reign and first since a short six-week run in the summer of 2020. His prior reign was for nearly three months in 2016-2017.

While he and Alexander have met in tag team competition frequently through the years, this will only be their second-ever singles match. The first took place in March 2020 that Alexander won.

It’s also the first match announced for the Bound for Glory pay-per-view.

Impact Bound For Glory heading to Danbury, Connecticut

Impact Wrestling’s next pay-per-view will be heading to the Northeast United States.

Fightful reported Wednesday that the previously announced Bound For Glory now has a destination as they will head to Danbury, Connecticut, on Saturday, October 8th.

They didn’t have the actual location the show will emanate from, only that the promotion will be there for several days, presumably for their traditional post-PPV TV taping. This will be their first visit to the city since a 2010 house show.

Impact has yet to confirm the news.

Here’s a look at their upcoming schedule:

  • Emergence Impact Plus special: Friday, August 12th in Chicago, IL
  • Second City Slamm TV taping: Saturday, August 13rd in Chicago, IL
  • Lone Star Stampede Dallas TV tapings: Friday, August 26th and Saturday, August 27th

Impact Bound for Glory announced for October

Impact Wrestling has announced the date for the Bound for Glory 2022 pay-per-view.

It was revealed during Sunday’s Slammiversary show that Bound for Glory will be held on Saturday, October 8. No city or venue have been announced for the event.

While lead play-by-play announcer Tom Hannifan said that the show will be held on October 8, the graphic shown for the pay-per-view did not list a specific date, just “October 2022.”

WWE Extreme Rules is currently set for October 8 as well, so it would not be surprising to see the Bound for Glory date shifted so as not to run head-to-head.

The next Impact Plus streaming special, Against All Odds, will air on Friday July 1 from Atlanta, one day before WWE Money in the Bank.

A video featuring a promo by WWE talent AJ Styles aired during Slammiversary, as Styles was voted the most Impactful X Division wrestler in the history of the company in a fan vote. Styles praised his time in Impact, and thanked WWE for allowing him to do the video, stating that the company understood that it was important to him.
