FRIDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE stock closed at $44.79 per share today coming off yesterday’s earning call. That was up nearly 15 percent from yesterday.
Here’s an interesting paradox. The Association of Ringside Physicians has stressed that no shows should be taking place at this time. The Association of Boxing Commissions has canceled its annual meeting from 7/23 to 7/30 in Sacramento citing that the decision was made out of the abundance of safety for all involved. And athletic commissions, at least in Florida and other states, are sanctioning MMA and boxing events. So the same people who think it’s too dangerous for a meeting, and whose doctors have told them it’s too dangerous to have fights, are sanctioning fights.
Smackdown tonight starts the 25th anniversary of HHH in WWE celebration, plus Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross vs. Dana Brooke & Carmella for the women’s tag titles, King Corbin vs. Drew Gulak in a Money in the Bank qualifier and Sasha Banks vs. Lacey Evans in a Money in the Bank qualifier.
Scott Coker is hoping to get Bellator started in July or August. A lot in Hollywood is building a made-for-TV set that will be used for empty arena Bellator shows and Showtime boxing shows on Friday and Saturday nights. Coker said they still expect to run their full schedule of 30 events this year.
Bellator flyweight champion Ilima-lei Macfarlane, her sister and a third unnamed woman have filed a lawsuit against Punahou School and former basketball coach Dwayne Yuen, claiming sexual abuse when they were younger. Macfarlane claimed the abuse started when she was in sixth grade and her sister was in eighth grade. The story was on KITV News in Honolulu. Macfarlane said that her sister complained at the time, but the school did nothing, but she came forward when further allegations against the coach surfaced in 2018.

DragonKing Dark: Friday The 13th’s Jason Voorhees
On DragonKing Dark, I continue to explore elements of the supernatural, fear, and paranormal through the stories we tell.
This week, we look back at one of the most iconic film series ever and explore the story and psychology of an icon of fear and horror: Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th movie series. The story of Jason changed frequently throughout the movie franchise, but the stalking element of fear and surprise remained constant.
Enjoy.
DragonKing Dark: Lord Humungus and our (possible) dystopian future
Here he is: Humungus, aka Lord Humungus, the master of the wastelands from Mad Max 2 and the Ayatollah of rock and rolla!
On this episode of the DragonKing Dark Podcast, I take a look at our possible dystopian future through the movie Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and its main antagonist. As we live through this pandemic, we are going to look at some pop culture that tells us stories of how the future could be.
THERE’S BEEN TOO MUCH VIOLENCE!
DragonKing Dark: The TV inspiration for ‘The Terminator’
On this edition of DragonKing Dark, I journey back in time to 1964 for an episode of the sci-fi fueled TV show The Outer Limits and an episode titled ‘Soldier’ where a soldier from the future is accidentally beamed back in time and tries to mesh with the world of 1964. The results are less than successful.
I discuss why that episode may have influenced The Terminator movies.
DragonKing Dark: Smithsonian Channel ‘Sphinx’ documentary review
This week on DragonKing Dark, I review the 2013 documentary from the Smithsonian Channel called Secrets: The Sphinx.
Of all the ancient monuments in Giza complex in Egypt, one stands out as different from the others ss the great Sphinx seems out of place, out of scale, and older than the rest. The official archaeological story says different but one can see with their own eyes that the head is out of scale to the body and there are clear signs of water erosion. What’s up with that?
We discuss the age and theories of The Sphinx on this episode of DragonKing Dark.
DragonKing Dark: 1977’s ‘In Search of…Bigfoot’
My DragonKing Dark retro TV review this week goes back into the ‘In Search Of…’ collection and tackles an icon of the 1970s: Bigfoot!
In this episode of the series, the one and only Leonard Nimoy navigates us through the usual Bigfoot stories: men trapped in a cabin under siege from a group of creatures, the Patterson film story, and many other close encounters with a giant ape man in the Pacific Northwest.
If you’re a Bigfoot enthusiast, this show produced during the height of 1970s Bigfoot-mania is for you.
DragonKing Dark: Communing with the dead
On this week’s edition of DragonKing Dark, host Karl Stern discusses the ancient belief that it is possible to communicate with those who have died. From the Biblical Witch of Endor to the more modern Ouija Board, our ancestors have long felt that it was possible to talk to those who have passed on.
Where do we go when we die? Why do many believe there is life after death? This episode continues our recent series of shows discussing how little we still know about death.
DragonKing Dark: Haunted dolls and Annabelle
On this week’s episode of DragonKing Dark podcast, host Karl Stern is joined by Tonya from When It Was Cool to discuss the new movie “Annabelle: Creation” and haunted objects.
We discuss haunted dolls, haunted houses, the real world version of Annabelle, and the three movies (spoilers) which feature the haunted doll, old haunted houses, haunted objects, and much more.
DragonKing Dark: Total solar eclipse
On this week’s episode of the DragonKing Dark podcast, host Karl Stern takes a look at the upcoming total solar eclipse. He talks his memories of the one he saw in 1979, then discusses what a solar eclipse is scientifically and historically, plus how rare they are and when the next several will take place.
This weekend’s episode is everything you need to know about the Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017!
DragonKing Dark: The line between life and death
The line between life and death is a favorite topic of host Karl Stern and today he discusses the Victorian fascination with death and how even today we still do not yet understand it.
On today’s show you’ll hear the story of a woman who was dead for almost twelve hours but was brought back to life. You’ll also hear the story of a cyclist who was reanimated by modern science.
