TNA and wrestling veteran Christopher Daniels has revealed his intention of wrestling again in the future.
Daniels, 56, currently working in AEW, is vividly remembered for his time in TNA Wrestling. Last wrestled in early 2025 on the Jericho Cruise, Daniels currently does not want to wrestle and embarrass himself again.
Daniels did a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, where he shared his thoughts and intentions of wrestling again in the future. (H/T Fightful)
“I mean, I wish I could, but I have to be honest about physically how my body’s beat up, and I watched some of the last matches of my career. I did a lot of stuff in DEFY in Seattle, Washington, and I watched a lot of those matches and while the mental part of those matches is really, really good at least — I’m very proud of it — I have to be honest and say I wasn’t really in the best of shape, and I could tell that I was slowing down, and so, yeah… the way it ended for me is probably best that it ended, and yeah, I don’t really have a desire to get back into it just because I don’t wanna embarrass myself.”
Wrestling since the early 1990s, Daniels currently has around 1917 listed matches on Cagematch. Although, despite the experience, he believes to have moved on from that space.
A new match is scheduled for this Wednesday’s three-hour Dynamite & Collision special.
Chris Jericho will meet Ricochet on Dynamite with a stipulation where everyone will be banned from ringside.
“After their teams waged war in Stadium Stampede at #AEWDoN, Jericho/Ricochet will fight 1-on-1 with everyone banned from ringside TOMORROW NIGHT!,” Tony Khan wrote on social media.
At Double or Nothing, Chris Jericho’s team emerged victorious in the Stadium Stampede match, with Jericho and his team members unleashing a seven-way superkick. Jericho then finished off Ricochet and pinned him to win the match.
Jericho’s victory over Ricochet was the first since his return at AEW Dynasty, where he lost to the former National Champion in a singles match. He then coming up short again after teaming with the Hurt Syndicate in a losing effort against The Demand later that month, then again after teaming with The Young Bucks against Ricochet and members of the Don Callis Family.
It was also announced that Kevin Knight will be speaking following the events of Double or Nothing, where he turned against Darby Allin by giving him a UFO splash off the turnbuckle onto a gurney as Allin was being stretchered out. Khan confirmed later on Tuesday that Mark Davis and Jack Perry will meet on Wednesday in a first-round Owen Hart Foundation tournament match.
Already announced for Dynamite is a Lights Out Philadelphia Street Fight pitting Hikaru Shida against Kris Statlander. MJF will also be making an appearance after winning back the AEW World title from Darby Allin at Double or Nothing.

The New York Knicks advanced to the NBA Finals on Monday, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0. WWE has been pushing that Danhausen has “uncursed” the Knicks while placing a curse on The Miz’s Cavaliers. With their win, the Knicks advance to their first NBA Finals since 1999.
The Gothamist reported on new renderings of plans to overhaul Penn Station in New York. While these plans would preserve Madison Square Garden, it would alter the exterior of the building and would lead to the removal of the Madison Square Garden Theatre, where NXT events have been held in the past.
Adam Copeland reflected on his Tag Team title win at Double or Nothing on his Instagram: “Last night at Double or Nothing @christian4peeps and I did something we haven’t done in 25 years. And that’s win tag team gold. He was retired for 7 years and I was retired for 9. But we fought to get our careers back and last night made it all worth it. NY you came out in full voice and supplied one of the favorite nights of my career. Even though I blew my pants out. The fact that I’m still having nights like this so deep into my career, with my best friend, my wife and wrestling one of the best teams ever in FTR, is not lost on me. Also, in case ya missed our ppv, @aew rules.”
Daniel Garcia vs. LaBrone Kozone has been announced for West Coast Pro on June 20.
AEW has also announced that new World Champion MJF will celebrate his title win this Wednesday, just three days after defeating Darby Allin at Double or Nothing to regain the belt.
The first match is on the books for this Wednesday’s three-hour Dynamite/Collision live special.
On the heels of Double or Nothing, AEW comes to The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia this Wednesday night. Fittingly, in the city that gave birth to ECW, there will be a Lights Out Philly Street Fight between former partners Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida. The bout was proposed by Statlander and then accepted by Shida.
Statlander cut a social media promo saying that it did not hurt when Shida struck her with a kendo stick at Double or Nothing. In fact, Statlander wants more of it.
“I want to do it all over again, and we’re going to be in the perfect place,” Statlander said. “So, Wednesday, my dear friend — me, you, and a Philly Street Fight.”
“Stat, I’ve been really patient with you. But now my patience has run out,” Shida responded. “You want me in a Philly Street Fight? I run Philly. My fans, they always bring the ‘Shida Best Around’ sign. You want me? You got me.”
Statlander and Shida’s uneasy team split at Double or Nothing when they, along with Jamie Hayter, challenged for the AEW Women’s World Championship in a four-way match. The bout ended with Thekla getting the win to remain champion.
“Lights Out” is how AEW brands its unsanctioned matches. If tradition holds, this will main event Wednesday’s broadcast or at least the Dynamite portion of it.

Kyle Fletcher was able to make his AEW return without undergoing surgery for the injury he suffered in March.
While competing on the March 28 episode of Collision, Fletcher tore his meniscus and suffered a fracture in his ankle and the top of his tibia. The recovery plan for the fractures was always for them to heal on their own. Doctors estimated that there was a 90 percent chance that the meniscus tear would require surgery, but Fletcher found out soon into his recovery that he would be able to avoid that.
“I don’t have to have surgery,” Fletcher happily announced in a new vlog. “Awesome news. I was given initially 90 percent chance of surgery. No surgery required. Just healing.”
The 27-year-old Fletcher had to rest for a couple of weeks before starting physical therapy. Along with those sessions, he worked out at his home gym through the process and made sure he was staying on top of his cardio and nutrition.
Kyle Fletcher’s AEW Double or Nothing return —
May 15 was the day Fletcher was cleared to start working out in the ring again. His physical therapist cleared him to wrestle shortly after, which allowed Fletcher to begin the process of being cleared by AEW doctors.
His return took place at Double or Nothing on Sunday with Fletcher turning against Konosuke Takeshita and targeting the new AEW International Champion.
“We’re back on the job. All of a sudden, it’s just — I’m back to being on the road, back to my old life,” Fletcher said after Double or Nothing. “It’s very exciting. It feels like a chapter has closed today, and now I get to look forward. Bright horizons, happy days ahead. I get to go back to living my dream, loving life, traveling the world, and dropping people on their f***ing heads, which I love to do.”
Mick Foley is All Elite, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be making an appearance on Dynamite this week.
PWInsider reports that, due to a “pre-existing responsibility” from before he signed with AEW, Foley is not scheduled to be at this Wednesday’s Dynamite/Collision episode in Philadelphia. The show is being held at The Liacouras Center and will feature the fallout from Double or Nothing.
“We are told he will be around regularly,” PWInsider wrote about Foley’s status. “I am told he won’t be in Philly this week as he has a pre-existing responsibility that was locked in before he signed but the impression I have been given is that he’ll be a regular part of AEW programming.”
Foley made his AEW debut on Sunday as co-host of the Double or Nothing pre-show. At the end of the pre-show broadcast, Foley took part in an angle where he was given a low blow by MJF, who went on to win the AEW World Championship from Darby Allin later in the night.
It remains to be seen how physically involved Foley will get, though Tony Khan would welcome Foley wrestling in AEW if the 60-year-old Hardcore Legend does decide to compete again. Foley had been planning one final match for his 60th birthday but called off those plans a couple years back when he suffered a concussion while doing light training.
“There’s a good chance Mick could come. He’s doing a lot of the AEW events, and I’m sure he’s going to want to be there,” Khan said. “I can’t say 100 percent for certain, but I think there’s a very high likelihood that Mick will be attending and hosting the event in Montreal.”
He’s not medically cleared to compete yet, but AEW wrestler Buddy Matthews has been announced for an indie tour taking place in his home country later this year.
Matthews will return to Australia for World Series Wrestling’s MegaMania tour this October-November. It’s a five-show tour with four events happening in Australia and one being held in New Zealand. Here is the full list of dates:
Thursday, October 29 in Auckland, New Zealand
Friday, October 30 in Brisbane, Australia
Saturday, October 31 in Adelaide, Australia
Sunday, November 1 in Melbourne, Australia
Monday, November 2 in Sydney, Australia
This announcement comes less than two weeks after Matthews made a surprise appearance for World Series Wrestling and, despite his injury, laid out Donovan Dijak. Matthews said he would be cleared by October, teasing that he’ll be coming after all the gold in WSW when he returns. The current top champion for the indie promotion is Killer Kross.
Buddy Matthews’ long injury layoff —
It’s been 15 months since we last saw Matthews compete in the ring. At AEW Grand Slam Australia in February 2025, he suffered an ankle injury while making his entrance to face Kazuchika Okada. The initial hope was that Matthews would only miss a few months, but his ankle didn’t heal properly and he needed to undergo surgery.
Matthews’ on-screen direction was in flux at the time his injury happened. Malakai Black was recently gone from AEW, leaving the former House of Black members to branch off without their leader.
Swerve Strickland had high praise for Matthews this March, saying he can’t wait for Matthews to get back in the ring and wants to face him once he’s able to.
ITS OFFICIAL … @snm_buddy shocked the wrestling world when he appeared at our #riseagainst tour. Buddy Matthews is BACK this October and November and he is coming for all of the gold! 🇦🇺 🇳🇿
After rumors began in April, AEW officially announced they will have a pay-per-view this July, bringing their yearly total to ten for the first time in their history.
Announced by Toronto Sun, Redemption will emanate from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on Sunday, July 26 — their first ever PPV in the city.
On Thursday, Khan said he was “very interested” in a July PPV if it was “additive” while noting it would be “highly lucrative.”
Khan told Postmedia Monday about the importance of the event especially with a roster of stacked Canadian talents.
“Montreal’s one of the greatest wrestling cities in the world. There’s such a rich history of professional wrestling. This will be a special event. It’s the first-ever AEW Redemption and it’s also the first-ever AEW pay-per-view in Montreal,” he said.
He also teased Mick Foley’s appearance at the new PPV.
“There’s a good chance Mick could come. He’s doing a lot of the AEW events, and I’m sure he’s going to want to be there. I can’t say 100% for certain, but I think there’s a very high likelihood that Mick will be attending and hosting the event in Montreal.”
🇨🇦 MONTREAL 🇨🇦
As announced by the Toronto Sun, AEW is returning to Canada this Summer with a BRAND NEW PPV: #AEWRedemption!
The seven-on-seven Stadium Stampede match was one of the highlights of AEW’s Double or Nothing. The day after, two of its featured wrestlers have explained how it all came together.
Although the match started in the ring, the action quickly spilled all over the building. War was waged in backstage hallways, at the merch booth, up an escalator, in catering, on a practice tennis court, and in the parking lot. Finally everyone returned to the ring, where Jericho pinned Bishop Kaun for the win.
Given the scattered locations and the history of prior Stadium Stampedes, one might assume that the backstage segments had been filmed earlier in the day, allowing for the outside-the-ring segments to be edited together and inserted into the live action. But that apparently is not the case.
Matt and Nick Jackson, the Young Bucks, were part of the winning team in Stadium Stampede. And they insist that nothing in the match was pre-recorded.
“Everything besides the entrances last night was shot live in real time,” they posted on social media. “Kudos to the crew. We did it. Nothing but love.”
The Bucks went on to share numerous posts from fans who had personally shot some of the goings-on.
In one such post, one fan captured a shot of the ring, then spun to capture Mark Davis patrolling the parking lot, only for Jack Perry to try to run him over with a bus.
The Bucks, Jericho, and Perry teamed with Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley & Kenny Omega to defeat Andrade el Idolo & Toa Liona & Ricochet & Clark Connors & David Finlay, along with Kaun in the match.
— Bryan and I will be back tonight talking Raw, fallout of AEW Double or Nothing, and the rest of the wrestling news with Wrestling Observer Radio.
— The Piloto Suicida who died in the ring last night in Ciudad Juarez is not the Southern California wrestler using the same name. The wrestler who died was Jose Calzada Salazar, 56. He went for a springboard moonsault to the floor, lost his balance, fell backwards to the floor and suffered a fatal skull fracture. This is very sad news. He was not even scheduled for the show, his son was but he replaced his son. A lot of Southern California fans and wrestlers were freaked out because the Southern California star of the 90s does still wrestle and is about the same age. The promotion did stop the show at that point. Apparently footage of this does exist. Fans were asked to leave the building and the building was shut down until the arrival of agents from the State Attorney General’s Office who conducted an investigation.
— Raw tonight is from Columbus, OH. Earlier today there were 9,231 tickets out. What has been announced is Penta vs. Je’Von Evans for the IC title, Bayley & Lyra Valkyrie vs. Raquel Rodriguez & Roxnne Perez, the go-home angle with Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu for Sunday, and Oba Femi opens doing a promo.
— Regarding QT Marshall, Tony Khan after the show said he was okay. It appeared he may have injured his leg or knee. Apparently he slipped on the top rope, which was right after the water was thrown and some of it got on the ropes. He fell to the outside and grabbed his knee. He was helped to the back by several people and was putting no weight on the leg.
— We received a ton of complaints from people who attended Double or Nothing regarding problems leaving the building and getting home. Many said it was the best live show they ever attended, but the staff at the building apparently didn’t open up enough exits and there was a mass transit issue of some sort. Some also complained of issues getting in the building which explains why it was so empty when the first match started on the pre-show.
— We don’t have any PPV numbers available and Tony Khan was asked about it last night but ended up talking about another question and never got back. Google searches were 50,000, which was No. 41 for the day. It was way above the 20,000 the night before for Saturday Night’s Main Event, but that is lower than almost all WWE PLEs do, but above most of the recent AEW PPV shows. We do have preliminary indications of it doing well, but as far as whether it beat Revolution numbers, I can’t even hazard a guess at this point.
— We’re looking for your thoughts on AEW Double or Nothing, thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to [email protected]
— As noted on last night’s show, Atlantis Jr. was injured at last night’s show at Arena Mexico. He was in the main event, early moments of the match, teaming with Neon & Blue Panther vs. Ultimo Guerrero & Gran Guerrero & Stuka Jr. He basically flipped over the top rope to land on the apron, nothing hard or dangerous, the landing looked fine, but the left knee went out. He had to be helped to the back. He’s off today and tomorrow’s shows in Puebla and Guadalajara, but nothing more has been said. In addition, like the same week Zandokan Jr. returns after knee surgery and being out for months, his tag team partner, Barboza was injured and Rob Bihari reported he’s out a couple of months minimum. That Galleon Fantasma team that I literally recommended to everyone and then Zandokan Jr. got hurt, has been jinxed something fierce.
— Atlantis Jr. was to face Villano III Jr. on Friday in the finals of the Copa Juniors. I would expect when the card is released later today or tomorrow we’ll know what they are going to do.
— I expect word about the TBS title will be announced on Dynamite on Wednesday. I had the impression it would be announced last night but I guess everything wasn’t finalized.
— El Clon beat Historic welterweight champion Mascara Dorada also last night at Arena Mexico. Clon issued a title challenge and Dorada accepted. It could be this coming Sunday although that is not official. I was told by multiple people the match was great.
— Atlantis replaces his son on tonight’s Puebla show (live on CMLL YouTube) teaming with Dorada & Neon vs. Ultimo Guerrero & Gran Guerrero & Stuka Jr., plus Esfinge & Stigma vs. Averno & Euforia.
— The city of El Paso has declared that weekend of 6/13 to 6/15 as Viva La Lucha Weekend.
— Linda Newton, who fans of Mid South and Crockett Promotions will know as Dark Journey, turned 69 today. AAA star El Mesias turned 51. Alberto El Patron turned 49. Roman Reigns turned 41. Uncle Howdy Taylor Rotunda turned 36. William Muldoon, one of the first celebrity pro wrestlers in the 1870s, was born on this day in 1845. June Byers, one of the greatest American women wrestlers ever, was born in 1922. Victor Rivera was born on this day in 1944. Hall of Famer Johnny Rougeau died 43 years ago today at the age of 53. DJ Peterson died 33 years ago today at 33. Jean Louis Cormier, better known as Rudy Kay, died 18 years ago today at 65. Rene Goulet died seven years ago today at 86. (thanks to Tony Richards)
— Matt Riddle vs. Steve Maclin was announced to headline Boca Raton Championship Wrestling on 8/16 at The Studio at Mizner Park. Maclin defends his BRCW title on the show.
— Nikki Bella will be appearing on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune that airs on Disney+ and Hulu. She will be on the sixth episode of the new season that starts in a few weeks. The show has her playing against actress Jamie Lynn Sigler and actor Dan Bucatinsky.
— AEW will be airing in its regular time slots for both Dynamite and Collision the entire month of June, so no three hour shows or Collision moves since NHL on TNT will be over by that point. The Countdown to Forbidden Door will air at 10 p.m. on 6/27 after Collision on the Saturday night before the show.
Some contract news has emerged on FTR in the wake of AEW Double or Nothing.
Bodyslam.net reports that Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler, who signed four-year deals with AEW in 2023, are now approaching their option year. The report states that FTR believe in their own value and think they should be financially compensated among AEW’s top-tier acts. Along with that, Bodyslam mentions WWE having “at least preliminary interest” in FTR, which has been communicated to the tag team through mutual contacts.
“Sources close to the situation describe FTR as believing their value and consistency over the last several years should place them among AEW’s top-tier acts financially,” the report said. “There has also reportedly been at least preliminary interest from WWE communicated through mutual contacts as the situation continues to draw attention internally.
“At present, there is no indication a departure is imminent, though FTR’s future beyond the current option year remains unclear.”
After being granted their releases from WWE in 2020, FTR made their AEW debuts shortly after and have held the AEW Tag Team titles three times. Their third reign with the belts ended last night when Adam Copeland & Christian Cage defeated Harwood & Wheeler at Double or Nothing.
WWE is reportedly interested in rebuilding its tag team division, though it’s believed that most of that will be done internally rather than signing outside teams. The division recently had high-profile departures with New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) and Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) being released.
FTR were known as The Revival during their WWE run, where they felt like the company did not do enough to prioritize the tag team division. Bodyslam’s report did not indicate if FTR have any interest in going back to WWE. Their previous run took place while Vince McMahon was still in charge of the company.
AEW isn’t worried about trying to outdo WWE when both promotions have shows in the same market.
At the post-Double or Nothing 2026 press conference, Tony Khan was asked if he has anything special in mind to “attack the market” with when AEW comes to Detroit this July. Dynamite and Collision are taking place in the city on July 29-30, with AEW’s visit coming just nine days after Detroit hosts WWE Raw. The events are being held at different venues with Little Caesars Arena hosting Raw and AEW’s shows being held at the smaller Masonic Temple Theater.
“Right now, we’re very focused on just doing the very best shows we can with AEW,” Khan responded. “I believe, I think, in my opinion, it’s showing up. You can see everybody’s working so hard, and it feels like it’s really connecting with the fans. In the back too, it really feels like there’s a spirit that is as strong as it’s been maybe since the pandemic or ever. It feels like right now is as good of a connection between AEW backstage as a company and also the fans watching the shows. I loved the pay-per-view tonight. I think we’re on a roll of great shows this year, the TV and pay-per-views. And that goes back to last year, so I just believe we can keep putting on strong events. The wrestlers are doing such a great job, the fans have been supporting us so well, and I just want to keep it going.”
Khan added that, when it comes to other promotions, he’s only focused on positive things like helping out AEW’s partners.
“We really, for the last few years, have not thought a lot about what other promotions are doing unless it’s people we’re partnering with and going into events like Grand Slam Mexico or Forbidden Door and collaborating with our partners,” he said. “Or trying to support Wrestle Kingdom or Wrestle Dynasty and events that our partners have put on. Or sending great wrestlers to Arena Mexico [or] collaborating with independent promotions, working with other people, trying to bring other promotions in for MyAEW, trying to find ways to support indies. Those are all really positive things, so I feel like we’re just focused on what we do and also how we can help.”
AEW in Detroit —
Khan called Detroit a great wrestling city that he has a “huge affinity” for. Because Detroit built the American auto industry, Khan’s father Shad was able to make his business fortune in auto parts.
“I would like to do more events there. Detroit is such a great wrestling city,” Khan said. “Some of my favorite nights in AEW have been there. We had the original Blood & Guts and the original Royal Rampage. Mox and Kenny in the cage. Really just great, great events in Detroit.”
Tickets for the July 29-30 AEW events are going on sale to the general public on June 1. WWE Raw tickets are already on sale.
Wrestling hardcore legend Mick Foley made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing, and had nothing but words of appreciation for the promotion following the event.
He took to Instagram to express gratitude for being involved with AEW and contributing to what he described as an ‘amazing’ night of wrestling .
“ALL ELITE I am so genuinely happy to be part of @AEW, and to have contributed in a small way to such an amazing night of wrestling.”
Foley co-hosted Zero Hour with Renee Paquette, focusing on coverage leading into the pay-per-view. He addressed the AEW World Championship match set to main event the program, offering words of advice before tensions escalated.
MJF interrupted the hardcore legend during his comments about the AEW World Championship match. He eventually struck Foley with a low blow. Allin then rushed out to make the save.
Later, in the post show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan discussed the vision he had in mind for Foley and Paquette’s roles on the promotion.
It sounds like AEW is in the early stages of planning to make the next Fight for the Fallen a show to benefit ALS research and those suffering from the terrible disease.
Rebel (real name Tanea Brooks), best known to AEW fans through her on-screen pairing with Britt Baker, announced this month that she’s been diagnosed with ALS, a fatal disease that has no cure. She’s been going through an awful health ordeal where, prior to this diagnosis, doctors could not figure out what was wrong. The 47 year old has struggled with walking and talking, along with battling lung issues.
At Sunday night’s post-Double or Nothing media scrum, Khan was asked if there is anything fans can do to help support Rebel. Khan shared that he’s in communication with Steve Gleason, a former New Orleans Saints player who has helped inspire others and raise awareness through his own battle with ALS. Khan mentioned the idea of making the next Fight for the Fallen an event to benefit ALS-focused charities. AEW is also producing “Rebel Heart” bracelets to show they are behind her.
“First of all, I want to send best wishes to Rebel. Rebel’s been with us since the beginning. She’s not here on the road with us now, but Rebel’s still always going to be a big part of AEW. And we’re thinking about her,” Khan said. “We’re keeping Rebel in our thoughts, but also, there are things you can do to support her.
“I just got it today, I have not had a chance to reply because I’ve been at the show, but I’m going to reply to him. I just heard from Steve Gleason. Steve Gleason reached out on behalf of the ALS Foundation and his own foundation, and I do think there’s going to be great chances to collaborate and do something. We’ll have these bracelets thinking about Rebel. And I’m thinking that it would be great to work with Steve Gleason and the ALS Foundation to put together Fight for the Fallen and have Fight for the Fallen to benefit ALS and people dealing with ALS and the treatment. And I think that would be something that we could all do that would be a positive way to support.”
AEW Fight for the Fallen —
First taking place in 2019 shortly after AEW was launched, Fight for the Fallen is a show where proceeds are donated to a different charity each year. The inaugural Fight for the Fallen benefitted victims of gun violence. Last year, the event was a Dynamite episode from Asheville, North Carolina. Money was raised to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene, which had devastated the Asheville area.
There has been no announcement as to the date or location for Fight for the Fallen 2026.
On the May 2 episode of Collision, AEW took a moment to let Rebel know how much she means to the company and that she is in everyone’s thoughts.
Tony Khan praised and appreciated Darby Allin’s commitment and in-ring fearlessness during his AEW World Championship reign.
Speaking on the Post Show Media Scrum, Khan praised Allin’s work ethic, defying stunts in the ring and still having a meaningful run as AEW World Champion.
“It’s hard to put into words how much Darby Allin means to this company because nobody would ever ask somebody to put their body on the line. No boss could ever go to somebody and ask somebody to do the kinds of things Darby Allin does.”
“To wrestle that often, to wrestle that hard, to take those kinds of chances, to take the risks that he did. He’s a very, very special person and he was fantastic as the TNT Champion, he was fantastic teaming with Sting, and he’s been fantastic as the World Champion. Everything Darby Allin’s done for us, he’s done his very, very best.”
“Whether it’s been in his singles run and the singles championships, he captured the TNT title, the World Title as a tag team wrestler, or climbing Mount Everest. He’s done just about everything he’s ever set his mind to in pro wrestling, and I believe it’s one of the greatest title reigns of any kind we’ve ever had in AEW. And it’s very fitting because I also think some of the greatest TNT title reigns have been Darby’s reigns where he put his body on the line and wrestled every week, but we’ve really never had a world champion wrestle at this kind of pace, this kind of schedule multiple times a week.”
He compared Allin’s schedules with Jon Moxley, when he was champion during the pandemic era. Khan defined how Allin defended the title multiple times a week with his high-risk maneuvers.
“Mox wrestled on the show every week, but there was only one show a week back then in the pandemic. We didn’t have Collision yet, and it was before Rampage even. So, we probably have never really seen anything quite like this with somebody going out twice a week often and wrestling at that kind of pace and taking these kinds of risks. So he’s one of the greatest fighting champions we’ve ever had in AEW of any kind at any time, and we’re very fortunate he’s been here this whole time.”
Despite Allin’s title reign spanning across 39 days, it validated his AEW run given how he is considered one of the four pillars of the promotion.
At Double or Nothing, MJF defeated him in a hair vs. title match to become a three-time AEW World Champion before the age of 30.
