AEW TV updates: Correction on themed shows initially listed for April

This story has been updated several times.

Despite initially being listed on a media release this week, Spring BreakThru and Playoff Palooza themed editions of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision are not coming back in April after all.

Earlier this week, WBD rolled out their preview of HBO Max content for the month which listed both themes. However, that release was since updated and an AEW representative reached out to verify the update was accurate.

AEW Dynamite will still air on Wednesday, April 15 from Kent, Washington, with the Collision edition airing on Thursday, April 16 as opposed to that Saturday as to avoid going head-to-head with WWE WrestleMania 42. Collision will be taped following Dynamite that Wednesday.

Per usual, AEW Dynasty will be available for PPV purchase on HBO Max, preceded by a Zero Hour pre-show.

Last October’s WrestleDream will be put up in the HBO Max archives on Friday, April 17 while the first episode of AEW Collision from 2023 makes it way to the service on Friday, April 24 as they begin to fill in back episodes up to November 2024.

March 23 AEW Collision preempted due to NCAA basketball tournament

Men’s NCAA basketball tournament coverage will result in some changes to AEW’s schedule for next week that will include no episode of Collision.

Early in February, it was reported that the Wednesday, March 20th edition of AEW Dynamite from Toronto, Canada, would be followed by a live edition of Rampage due to NCAA coverage that Friday. Both shows will air on TBS.

It has since been confirmed that there will be no Collision on Saturday, March 23rd due to the tournament.

Starting this Saturday, AEW is beginning a four-show Canadian tour that will see them visit Ottawa, Toronto, Quebec City, and London, Ontario, over the next two weeks.

The last time Collision was preempted was last month due to NBA All-Star Weekend. That followed preemptions for Saturday pay-per-views like November’s Full Gear and December’s Worlds End.

AEW’s schedule indicates a return to TV normalcy after next week with the next shift coming on Saturday, April 20th when they will air Collision followed by a live Rampage. It’s unclear why the Friday, April 19th Rampage is being preempted, but it’s likely due to either NBA or NHL playoff coverage.
