Lights Out tag team match set for AEW Rampage Grand Slam

A Lights Out tag team match between Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston vs. Minoru Suzuki and Lance Archer has been announced for next Friday’s Grand Slam edition of AEW Rampage.

After Moxley defeated Suzuki more than a week ago on Dynamite, Suzuki complained about Moxley getting the hometown advantage which included him not getting his full entrance music played. He reunited with Suzuki-gun teammate Archer and issued a challenge to Moxley and Kingston on this past Wednesday’s Dynamite.

The stipulation means that it’s an anything goes match that will take place after the official show “ends.” AEW has done this in the past with Moxley vs. Kenny Omega at 2019’s Full Gear and Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa on the St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition of Dynamite this past March.

Also added to next Friday’s card is an eight-man tag team match between Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers and Santana & Ortiz vs. The Butcher & The Blade and Private Party. This was set into motion after Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix defended the gold against Butcher & Blade Friday, leading to Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy coming out for the attack. Santana and Ortiz then ran out for the save.

In the latest variant in their recent rivalry that also includes Tay Conti, Anna Jay will take on Penelope Ford. Jay defeated The Bunny on Friday’s Rampage.

Here’s the current lineup for next Friday’s Grand Slam edition of Rampage that will be taped Wednesday at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York:

  • CM Punk vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
  • The Young Bucks and Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage and Jurassic Express
  • Chris Jericho and Jake Hager vs. Men of the Year
  • Eddie Kingston/Jon Moxley vs. Minoru Suzuki/Lance Archer lights out match
  • Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers/Santana & Ortiz vs. The Butcher & The Blade and Private Party
  • Anna Jay vs. Penelope Ford

CM Punk set for action on two-hour AEW Rampage Grand Slam

CM Punk will have his first television match in over seven years on next week’s two-hour AEW Rampage Grand Slam.

Punk will take on Powerhouse Hobbs. The match was announced during this week’s Dynamite and was set up when Hobbs and Hook from Team Taz attacked Punk at the commentary table.

Punk’s last match on TV was on the January 20, 2014 WWE Raw, where he defeated Billy Gunn.

A total of three matches were announced for the special two-hour edition of Rampage.

In a trios match, The Young Bucks and Adam Cole will team against Christian Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus.

Also announced, Chris Jericho and Jake Hager of the Inner Circle will tag against Men of the Year’s Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. Jericho answered the American Top Team open challenge on this week’s Dynamite to set up the bout.

Next week’s Rampage will be taped next Wednesday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York. The crowd is expected to be the largest in the promotion’s history at over 18,000.
