Anna Jay returning to the ring, will face Britt Baker at AEW House Rules

Anna Jay is returning to the ring for the first time in two months.

It was announced today that Jay vs. Britt Baker will take place at AEW’s House Rules live event this Saturday. It’s AEW’s second-ever house show and the first event on the House Rules tour.

Jay last wrestled when she and Tay Melo lost a street fight to Ruby Soho & Willow Nightingale on AEW Rampage this January. In February, Jay revealed that she suffered “some dislocated ribs” and a bruised tailbone during the street fight.

Melo was dealing with a back protrusion going into the street fight and also spent two months out of action after the match. She made her return at an indie show for Northeast Wrestling last weekend.

Saturday’s House Rules event is being held at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio. A tag team match pitting Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli against Big Bill & Lee Moriarty has also been announced for the show.

Tag team match set for AEW House Rules live event

AEW has made its first match announcement for this weekend’s House Rules live event in Troy, Ohio.

Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli will be teaming up at the house show, taking on Big Bill & Lee Moriarty of The Firm. The show is being held at Hobart Arena this Saturday (March 18).

This will be the first event on AEW’s House Rules tour. It’s the second-ever AEW house show. The first, named The House Always Wins, took place in April 2021.

Moxley was originally supposed to wrestle at OTT ScrapperMania 7 in Dublin, Ireland this Saturday, but he was pulled from the booking after AEW announced the House Rules event. Ohio is Moxley’s home state.

AEW is sending Eddie Kingston and PAC to ScrapperMania as Moxley’s replacements.

Moxley & Castagnoli defeated Alex Reynolds & John Silver on Dynamite last week. On this Wednesday’s episode of the show, Moxley, Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta will face Hangman Page, Evil Uno & Stu Grayson in a six-man tag match.

Castagnoli is the current ROH World Champion.

John LaRocca and I are back with a brand new episode of The Fight Game Podcast.

We kicked off the show with our new segment called Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down where we gave kudos to someone in the world of wrestling who deserves it and call out someone who doesn’t.

We took a look at some matches for WWE WrestleMania coming out of the Royal Rumble and answered a listener question.

Then we reviewed AEW Dynamite, focusing on the following:

  • AEW House Rules
  • Moxley vs. Page
  • The “bootleg Beverly Brothers”
  • Bryan Danielson’s match of the week
  • A terribly produced segment that was WCW-like at its worst
  • Samoa Joe being too much man

AEW announces ‘House Rules’ live event tour

AEW’s first house show tour is coming in March.

The company announced Wednesday in a press release that they will kick off their “AEW House Rules” live event series starting on March 18 in Troy, Ohio with stars such as Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Britt Baker, Darby Allin, and Orange Cassidy slated to appear.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at AEWTix.com with more tour dates expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

AEW held one prior house show called The House Always Wins back on April 10, 2021, in Jacksonville, Florida, headlined by Darby Allin successfully defending the TNT Championship against The Butcher.

“As a lifelong fan of professional wrestling who grew up attending house shows, AEW House Rules is an exciting next step in our journey, giving fans a new level of access to top-tier professional wrestling,” Tony Khan said in a press release. “We’re always looking for meaningful ways to engage with our fans, and AEW House Rules will be a great way for them to connect with our incredible talent and experience AEW in an intimate setting.”

Jeff Jarrett, who joined AEW last year as their Director of Business Development, also had a quote:

“The extraordinary success of AEW changed the landscape of professional wrestling as a whole, not only by providing a fresh new product, but also by raising the bar in a manner that many deemed impossible a few years ago,” said Jarrett. “Now as we expand to live house shows, fans can expect an innovative approach and get up close with the best talent in professional wrestling. In addition to satisfying the passions of diehard fans, we’re excited about creating new fans of all ages through these entertaining events.”
