On this week’s DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show, we’re heading to the library to talk the fantastic new “Flowers for Adrian: The Life and Death of Adrian Adonis” book by John Ellul looking at the life and career of the pro wrestling star.

This book is tremendously well-written and researched and is probably my favorite pro wrestling biography written in years.

The life of Adonis (Keith Franke) was rough, confounding, and interesting. His gimmick in WWF/WWE was infuriating and embarrassing but the performer behind the gimmick was one of the best of his era. His tragic death in 1988 was overshadowed by a bigger and more scandalous murder a few days later but, finally, Adonis gets the proper attention paid to his life in this great book.

The Pacific Rim Pro Wrestling Podcast is back with a look at the life of Adrian Adonis from a unique perspective: his friendship with co-host Fumi Saito.

Fumi talks about how they met in the AWA, Adonis’ success in Japan and the last trip to Tokyo where Adonis told Fumi he was getting back into shape for a comeback, just weeks before his tragic death. Plus, we discuss how this very podcast helped Adonis’ oldest daughter learn about her father.
