New Untold episode coming to WWE Network next weekend

A new episode of WWE Untold is coming to the WWE Network next weekend.

WWE Network News reported today that the Untold episode will premiere on Sunday, May 3. It will be focused on the rise of Triple H and his feud with Mick Foley.

Here’s the brief description for the episode: “At the dawn of the new millennium, a pair of brutal bouts against Cactus Jack and a game-changing interview propelled Triple H to the top of WWE. He, along with Mick Foley and others, look back at the untold stories behind the rise of The Game.”

A segment celebrating Triple H’s 25th anniversary with WWE headlined last night’s episode of SmackDown. It featured in-person appearances by Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Vince McMahon, along with Stephanie McMahon, Ric Flair, and Road Dogg calling into the segment.

To mark Triple H’s 25th anniversary, the WWE Network also uploaded “25 Years of Triple H: The Game Changing Matches” and “Live To Win: A Conversation With Triple H and Lemmy,” a special where Corey Graves interviewed Triple H and Lemmy prior to Lemmy’s passing in 2015.

The most recent new episode of Untold premiered earlier this month and was focused on Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle’s feud and match from WrestleMania 21.

WWE Network uploading more WWF Superstars episodes on Monday

More episodes of Superstars are coming.

WWE Network News reported this past week that more episodes of Superstars, the original syndicated show, would be coming to the WWE Network on April 20. Today they released episode listings of the next batch of shows which would take the series through the March 13, 1993, just weeks before WrestleMania IX.

The original batch of episodes started in April 1992 and ended with the December 12, 1992 episode.

Superstars has had many iterations since its debut as a syndicated program in 1986 under the name Superstars of Wrestling. It was later moved to the USA Network in 1996 and eventually became a recap show highlighting WWE programming. It was cancelled under this format in August 2001.

The name was later revived for a show on WGN America in 2011. It was later moved to WWE.com, then the WWE Network. The show, which was taped before SmackDown, was dropped in 2016 in favor of 205 Live, which airs to this day.

‘Undertaker: The Last Ride’ limited series coming to WWE Network

A “limited series event” focused on The Undertaker is coming to the WWE Network.

During WrestleMania 36 night one, a trailer aired announcing that “Undertaker: The Last Ride” is coming soon. An exclusive first look at the docuseries will air after WrestleMania 36 night two tomorrow night.

The series “gives the WWE Universe a rare inside look at Mark Calaway, the man behind The Undertaker, as he prepares for what could be the end of his legendary career.” Interviews with Undertaker, Michelle McCool, Vince McMahon, Big Show, Edge, Shawn Michaels, and Steve Austin are featured in the trailer.

In what was more of a cinematic production than a standard professional wrestling match, The Undertaker’s boneyard match against AJ Styles headlined tonight’s WrestleMania 36 night one broadcast. Undertaker buried Styles to get the win.

Further details on “Undertaker: The Last Ride” and how many episodes it will be haven’t been revealed. Here’s the trailer for the series:

Ric Flair appearing on next episode of Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions

A conversation between Steve Austin and Ric Flair is coming to the WWE Network later this month.

WWE Network News reported today that Flair will be the guest on the next episode of Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions interview series. Their report stated the episode will premiere on the WWE Network on Sunday, April 12.

This will be the sixth episode of Broken Skull Sessions. The monthly series has previously featured The Undertaker, Goldberg, Kane, Big Show, and Bret Hart as guests. The Hart episode debuted on March 16 as part of WWE’s celebration of 3:16 Day.

Uncensored versions of the Undertaker, Goldberg, Big Show, and Hart episodes of Broken Skull Sessions were added to the WWE Network earlier this week.

A new episode of WWE Untold was uploaded to the Network today. It’s focused on Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle from WrestleMania 21. A new WWE Chronicle episode on Drew McIntyre is being uploaded tomorrow, and a new WWE 24 on Edge’s return to the ring is premiering on Sunday.

Edge’s return to the ring will be featured on the next episode of WWE 24.

WWE Network News reported that “WWE 24: Edge: The Second Mountain” will premiere on the WWE Network after night two of WrestleMania 36 on Sunday, April 5. Edge is facing Randy Orton in a last man standing match at WrestleMania, though WWE hasn’t revealed which night their match will be airing on.

The WWE 24 episode will cover Edge’s “return to professional wrestling and the hardships and triumphs along the way.”

After being forced to retire due to injury in 2011, Edge returned to in-ring action as an entrant in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match. The next night on Raw, there was an angle where Orton attacked Edge and laid him out with a con-chair-to.

Here’s the description for the Untold episode: “At WrestleMania 21, two of the greatest technical wrestling artists of all time created a masterpiece. Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle reminisce about the match Angle calls the best of his career.”

WWE makes ‘vast portion’ of WWE Network library free for limited time

For a limited time, WWE is offering free access to a “vast portion” of the WWE Network library.

WWE made the announcement today, touting that every WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and NXT TakeOver and NXT UK TakeOver event are included in the programming that’s been made available to watch for free via watch.wwe.com

Recent episodes of Raw and SmackDown are also available to watch for free, but that’s limited to episodes from this year and near the end of 2019.

WWE also lists that every WWE 24, WWE Untold, Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions, their Ruthless Aggression docuseries and Monday Night War docuseries, the A Future WWE: The FCW Story documentary, and “much, much more” are among the programming that’s available for free.

“We’ve already doubled down with an historic WrestleMania this year that’s Too Big for Just One Night, streaming on WWE Network next Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5, at 7 ET/4 PT. (The two-night WrestleMania event is only available to WWE Network subscribers),” WWE wrote.

“Now, in the lead-up to The Show of Shows, you can relive classic matches, re-experience sports-entertainment’s defining moments and celebrate WWE’s greatest Superstars, past and present. Just create your account and stream on your favorite device.”

New episodes of WWE Ruthless Aggression series coming this fall

New episodes of the WWE Network’s Ruthless Aggression docuseries are set to resume later this year.

The first run of episodes wrapped up today and ended with a video hyping that new episodes are coming this fall. The teaser hyped that the episodes will cover the Elimination Chamber match, the Diva Search, Tough Enough, the Money in the Bank ladder match, The Undertaker, and Ohio Valley Wrestling.

The Ruthless Aggression docuseries debuted on the WWE Network last month. The fallout of the Monday Night Wars, John Cena, Evolution, Brock Lesnar, and the Raw vs. SmackDown brand split were focused on in the first run of episodes.

WWE wrote that the Ruthless Aggression series “picks up where WWE Network’s critically acclaimed Monday Night War docuseries left off, detailing the prolific, if turbulent, years that followed the Attitude Era, after WWE won the battle for Monday night supremacy and absorbed its top rival, WCW.

“Famous for giving rise to legendary WWE Superstars like John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton and Batista, the Ruthless Aggression Era was also a time of remarkable innovation for WWE. The company introduced new concepts like the Elimination Chamber Match and Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and, for the first time in its history, split the roster into two unique brands: Raw and SmackDown.”

FCW documentary coming to WWE Network next month

A documentary on WWE’s Florida Championship Wrestling developmental brand is set to premiere next month.

It was announced today that “A Future WWE: The FCW Story” will debut on the WWE Network on Sunday, March 8. It will be made available on-demand at 10 a.m. Eastern time that day.

FCW was WWE’s developmental brand prior to it becoming NXT.

WWE.com wrote:

Before NXT and the world-class WWE Performance Center, there was Florida Championship Wrestling, WWE’s no-frills talent-development system that, despite its humble settings, gave rise to some of this era’s most dominant Superstars, from Sheamus and Roman Reigns to Seth Rollins and The Bella Twins.

For the first time ever, you can learn about the legacy of FCW from those who shaped it when A Future WWE: The FCW Story premieres Sunday, March 8, on the award-winning WWE Network.

The documentary, which was first revealed during The Celtic Warrior’s appearance on today’s edition of WWE’s The Bump, will feature new interviews with the Superstars and coaches who built FCW from the ground up, as well as never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage.

A new episode of Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions with Big Show as the guest will premiere on the WWE Network at 8 p.m. Eastern time this coming Sunday (February 23), while a new WWE 24 documentary on R-Truth will air after Super ShowDown on Thursday, February 27.

New episodes of WWE’s Ruthless Aggression docuseries are also being made available on the WWE Network on-demand on Mondays at 10 a.m. Eastern.

WWE 24: R-Truth to premiere after Super ShowDown

R-Truth’s life story will be featured on the next episode of WWE 24.

WWE 24: R-Truth will premiere on the WWE Network after Super ShowDown on Thursday, February 27. WWE.com wrote about the documentary:

Prepare to see a side of R-Truth that you’ve never seen before when WWE 24: R-Truth streams on WWE Network on Thursday, Feb. 27, immediately following WWE Super ShowDown.

Though the endlessly charismatic Truth is perhaps best known for providing some of the most riotously funny laugh-out-loud moments in WWE history, his path to Superstardom, as detailed in WWE 24, reveals the story of a man who had to overcome severe hardships to get where he is today.

From humble beginnings and a stint behind bars, to discovering his passion for music and sports-entertainment and realizing his ability to inspire others, Truth’s life story — the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful — is laid out for the WWE Universe to see.

Watch it all when WWE 24: R-Truth premieres Thursday, Feb. 27, only on the award-winning WWE Network.

While the exact start time for the WWE 24 episode isn’t known, Super ShowDown will begin at noon Eastern time.

Super ShowDown is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Brock Lesnar vs. Ricochet for the WWE Championship, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Goldberg for the Universal Championship, Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin in a steel cage match, and The New Day vs. The Miz & John Morrison for the SmackDown Tag Team titles have been announced for the show.

Big Show appearing on Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions this month

Big Show is joining Steve Austin on the next edition of Broken Skull Sessions.

WWE has announced that Big Show will be Austin’s guest on this month’s Broken Skull Sessions episode. It will premiere on the WWE Network at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, February 23.

This will be the first episode of the interview series that isn’t premiering after a special event. The Undertaker appeared on the debut episode of Broken Skull Sessions after Survivor Series in November, Goldberg was the guest on the episode that aired after TLC in December, and Kane was on the episode that aired after NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II last month.

Big Show briefly returned to WWE television last month and teamed with Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens in their feud against Seth Rollins, AOP, and Buddy Murphy. Big Show was Joe & Owens’ mystery partner for a six-man tag match against Rollins & AOP on Raw on January 6. The teams then faced off in a “fist fight” the next week.

‘Ruthless Aggression’ docuseries coming to WWE Network

WWE’s “Ruthless Aggression” era will be the subject of a new docuseries that’s premiering on the WWE Network this month.

The company announced today that the debut episode of WWE Ruthless Aggression will be made available on the WWE Network on demand at 10 a.m. Eastern time on Sunday, February 16. New episodes will then be uploaded on demand every Monday at 10 a.m. Eastern starting on February 17.

WWE wrote that the series “picks up where WWE Network’s critically acclaimed Monday Night War docuseries left off, detailing the prolific, if turbulent, years that followed the Attitude Era, after WWE won the battle for Monday night supremacy and absorbed its top rival, WCW.

Cena, Batista, Orton, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Mark Henry, Becky Lynch, Kevin Owens, The Miz, Paul Heyman, and Bruce Prichard are among those who did new interviews for the docuseries.

Vince McMahon considering ‘transformative’ changes for WWE Network

On Thursday’s investors conference call, WWE chairman Vince McMahon said the company has had advanced talks with major OTT players about changes to the WWE Network that could mean a significant revenue increase for the company.

McMahon called the potential deal(s) “transformative”.

Those changes could be content rights with marquee events like WrestleMania and the Royal Rumble or perhaps a different distribution model for the WWE Network altogether. McMahon said if a change is made, it will be announced this quarter as the talks are that far along.

When asked about the plans for the Network, McMahon said they have a lot of options. One is to remain as they are now with a free and paid tier while the other is to distribute more content to “the majors”. He later clarified “majors” as OTT companies.

“There’s no better time as of right now to exercise the selling of our rights,” he said.

In a follow-up answer, interim CFO Frank Riddick said that while the devil is in the details, there is nothing that would stop them from selling those rights if they chose to.

McMahon was asked about whether they would consider adding advertising to the Network and he said they would be interested if they kept the model as is. If they brought on other partners, that decision would be up to them.

As of last quarter, the WWE Network had 1.43 million subscribers, a 10% drop from the previous quarter, and generated $184.6 million in yearly revenue, down $15 million from 2018. The company predicted a modest increase for Q1 2020 for 1.47 million.

WWE signed two massive five-year TV deals with both Fox (SmackDown) and NBCUniversal (Raw), giving the company $2.35 billion from 2019-2024.

Drew McIntyre WWE Chronicle episode to debut WM weekend

The night before he faces Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, Drew McIntyre will be the focus of a new episode of WWE Chronicle.

During his appearance on WWE’s The Bump today, it was announced that a Chronicle episode on McIntyre will premiere on the WWE Network after NXT TakeOver: Tampa on Saturday, April 4. McIntyre will challenge Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36 the next day.

A brief clip from the Chronicle episode aired on WWE’s The Bump (starting at 18:13). It shows McIntyre talking to Vince McMahon backstage after the Royal Rumble match and McIntyre reacting to his win.

McIntyre entered the men’s Royal Rumble match as the 16th entrant. He eliminated Lesnar with a Claymore Kick after Ricochet gave Lesnar a low blow. The match came down to McIntyre, Roman Reigns, Edge, and Randy Orton as the final four, with McIntyre last eliminating Reigns to win the match.

McIntyre opened Monday’s post-Royal Rumble episode of Raw with a promo where he officially challenged Lesnar for WrestleMania 36. After McIntyre defeated Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in a handicap match on Raw, he was ambushed by Lesnar and laid out with an F-5.

John Morrison WWE Chronicle episode to air after Worlds Collide

WWE has announced when John Morrison’s episode of Chronicle will be premiering.

The WWE Chronicle episode on Morrison will debut on the WWE Network after Worlds Collide on Saturday, January 25. It will focus on Morrison’s return to WWE.

The Chronicle episode was first mentioned by Morrison during a promo on SmackDown this past Friday night. Morrison claimed that a Chronicle documentary was being filmed in advance of him returning at the Royal Rumble, but he returned early to be there for The Miz. Morrison also blamed the fans for turning against Miz.

Morrison and Miz are feuding with The New Day, and Morrison will return his return to the ring against Big E on SmackDown this Friday night.

A new WWE 24 episode focused on last year’s WrestleMania will premiere on the Network after the Royal Rumble on January 26.

NXT vs. NXT UK is the theme of the Worlds Collide special. It’s taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
