Jonathan Gresham vs. Silas Young set for ROH 17th Anniversary PPV

Eight matches have now been made official for Ring of Honor’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

ROH announced on Wednesday that Jonathan Gresham will face Silas Young at the PPV. This will be the second singles match they’ve had in ROH, with Young having won their first matchup in 2017.

Jeff Cobb retained his Television title against Young in a match that aired on this week’s episode of ROH television. Young challenging for the title was set up by him winning a number one contender’s mini-tournament.

Gresham vs. Matt Taven on this week’s ROH TV episode ended in a disqualification when The Kingdom attacked Gresham. Jay Lethal tried to make the save but was beaten down. LifeBlood (Juice Robinson, Tenille Dashwood, Bandido, David Finlay, and Mark Haskins) then made the save for Gresham and Lethal. The angle ended with Lethal destroying the fake World title belt that Taven has been carrying around.

Lethal will defend his ROH World Championship against Taven in the main event of the Anniversary PPV. The event is taking place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, March 15. There will also be a set of television tapings at the venue the next night.

Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

  • ROH World Champion Jay Lethal defending against Matt Taven
  • ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defending against PCO & Brody King
  • Women of Honor World Champion Mayu Iwatani defending against Kelly Klein
  • ROH TV Champion Jeff Cobb defending against Shane Taylor
  • Rush vs. Bandido
  • Marty Scurll vs. Kenny King
  • Jonathan Gresham vs. Silas Young
  • Mark Haskins & Tracy Williams vs. Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan

Marty Scurll vs. Kenny King official for ROH 17th Anniversary PPV

Another match has been made official for next month’s Ring of Honor 17th anniversary pay-per-view.

ROH announced today that Marty Scurll will face Kenny King at the Anniversary show. The match was set up when King challenged Scurll at ROH’s television tapings in Lakeland, Florida on February 9.

King defeated Scurll, Willie Mack, and Silas Young in a four corner survival match at Bound By Honor in Miami earlier this month. King low blowed Scurll and pinned him while holding onto his tights. Scurll had the chicken wing locked in on Silas Young right before the finish, but King was trying to bring a chair into the ring and the referee didn’t see Young tapping out.

Scurll has a future ROH World Championship shot as a stipulation of winning last year’s Survival of the Fittest tournament, while King’s storyline since losing to Jay Lethal at Global Wars: Toronto in November has been arguing that he deserves a title shot due to pinning Lethal. King had his feet on the ropes for leverage, the referee waved off the finish and had the match continue, and Lethal retained the World title.

The 17th Anniversary PPV is taking place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, March 15. Here’s the updated card:

  • ROH World Champion Jay Lethal defending against Matt Taven
  • ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defending against Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King)
  • Rush vs. Bandido
  • Marty Scurll vs. Kenny King

Rush vs. Bandido set for ROH 17th Anniversary PPV

Two of Ring of Honor’s top new signees will be facing off at the promotion’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

ROH has announced that Rush will face Bandido at the PPV, which is taking place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, March 15. The match was set up in a video where Bandido issued the challenge and Rush accepted it.

After signing with ROH, Bandido debuted for the promotion at last month’s television tapings. He’s part of the LifeBlood stable with Juice Robinson, Tenille Dashwood, David Finlay, Mark Haskins, and Tracy Williams.

Rush made his ROH debut at December’s TV tapings. It was then announced in January that he had signed with ROH.

Jay Lethal will defend his ROH World Championship against Matt Taven in the main event of the 17th Anniversary PPV. Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) are also set to challenge for The Briscoes’ Tag Team titles at the show.

Lethal to defend ROH World title against Taven at 17th Anniversary

Editor’s note: This article references notes from ROH TV episodes that have yet to air.

The main event is set for Ring of Honor’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

Jay Lethal defending his ROH World Championship against Matt Taven has been announced for the PPV. It’s taking place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, March 15.

The storyline for Lethal and Taven’s feud has been based on Taven carrying around his own title belt and claiming to be the real ROH World Champion. Lethal destroyed Taven’s title belt during an angle at ROH’s television tapings in Lakeland, Florida over the weekend.

The Kingdom attacked Lethal later in the tapings, with Taven giving him an elbow drop through a table.

Lethal vs. Taven is the second title match to be confirmed for the 17th Anniversary event. ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes are set to defend their titles against Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) at the PPV. Villain Enterprises got the title shot as a stipulation of winning last month’s Tag Wars tournament.
