ROH TV results: Six-Man Tag Team Championship match

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Quinn McKay revealed she was out of her usual hosting duties due to her match that is scheduled tonight, meaning Delirious is the guest host. Before Delirious came in, McKay drew names out of a pumpkin to decide wildcard tag teams to compete in a special Halloween four-corner tag team bout later on in the night.

Delirious came in and spat out a bunch of inaudible words as the match cards ran across the screen, including a ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship bout between the current champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Taylor, Moses, and Kaun) and the trio of PCO, Danhausen, and Sledge. Also, ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C teams up with Quinn McKay to face Miranda Alize and Max The Impaler.

Max The Impaler & Miranda Alize (w/ Amy Rose) defeated Quinn McKay & Rok-C (6:37)

This match was ok, but suffered from a lack of a real rhythm and never felt like it hit its full stride.

Rok-C and Alize started off the match, but went to blows immediately. Both women showed fierce striking abilities as they spilled into the corner, prompting McKay to tag in. McKay tried to separate the women and let cooler heads prevail, but would go blow for blow with Alize as the first commercial break ensued.

When the break returned, Alize began to get weary due to the amount of time she’d been in the match. Although weary, she was constantly distracted by Rok-C and took her off the apron at one point. After McKay had missed a few moves, Alize was able to tag in Max.

Max came in and lifted McKay on their shoulders, while also picking up Rok-C with their hands. Both were slammed on top of each other, but Alize tagged herself in and went to pick the bones. After nailing McKay with a go to sleep and only warranting a two count, Alize tagged out to Max. Max lifted both McKay and Rok-C on their shoulders, dumping them on the mat. Max would lift McKay back up and hit her signature backbreaker, as Alize tagged in one last time and made the pinfall herself.

Rey Horus & Silas Young defeated Demonic Flamita & O’Shay Edwards, Flip Gordon & Matt Taven, and EC3 & World Famous CB in a Wildcard Trick Or Treat Halloween Tag Team Four-Corner Survival Match (11:29)

Despite being a very gimmicky-type match, I enjoyed this match for what it was. Maybe a bit too long, but it was still largely fine.

CB and Young started off the bout. After exchanging a few pinfall attempts, Young seemed impressed with CB and tagged out to Horus. Flamita stormed the ring and threw CB out, meaning Flamita and Horus were the legal men. Horus sent Flamita packing after a sweet head scissors takedown, meaning Gordon would springboard off his turnbuckle and take down Horus. Gordon hit a series of moves from his 2018 persona, including a dropkick that sent Flamita to the hills.

EC3 got in the ring, prompting Gordon to introduce himself like it was 2018. Gordon dodged a few clotheslines from EC3 before tagging out to his partner, Matt Taven. Taven got the advantage over EC3 and drop kicked him as a commercial ensued.

When the break returned, Edwards was beating down Taven. Edwards tagged out to Flamita, who asked Horus to come help him double-team Taven.  After the duo hit a few moves together, Flamita superkicked Horus.

The match broke down at this point, with nearly everyone in the match getting in the ring. Taven dove onto Edwards at ringside, who had CB in his hands. Horus would then dive onto Taven and CB, followed by Flamita diving onto all three of them.

The finish of the match saw Horus and CB have a small exchange, but Horus was able to nail a 450 splash. Horus’ partner, Young, came in the ring and disposed of Horus, before making the successful pinfall himself.

ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses, Kaun) defeated PCO, Danhausen and Sledge in a title match (8:33)

Although this was extremely entertaining, I would have preferred the match to be extended by a few minutes to give it more meaning and purpose.

Danhausen and Moses started out. Danhausen tried to take the big man off his feet, but was met with a shoulder block. Before Moses could inflict any more pain, Danhausen requested him to tag out to Taylor. Taylor came in, wrenched the arm of Danhausen, and delivered a flush strike to the jaw that sent him rolling out of the ring. Sledge and Taylor went face to face and traded strikes into a commercial break.

PCO did his shtick as the match returned from break, hitting everybody in sight. He removed the turnbuckle cover and threw all three members of STP into it head first, before diving head-first onto the hard floor at ringside. After PCO regained his composure, he tagged out to Sledge who was met with a right knee from Taylor. Danhausen came in and had some success against Taylor, hitting a standing pump.

The finish of the match saw PCO dive onto Sledge, while Danhausen was attacked 3-on-1. Moses and Kaun hit a double team move on Danhausen that was followed up by a piledriver from Taylor, which secured the pinfall victory.

Final Thoughts:

With the ROH hiatus news, it’s hard to be super invested in the product given that it’s all coming to an end very soon. It’ll be interesting to see if the company pivots to a non-storyline focused show in the coming weeks and just puts on really good matches. Overall though, this was a fine edition of TV that had three fun matches heading  into Final Battle. This wasn’t a can’t miss show by any means, but if you’re looking for just an easy to watch one hour show. this should be on your list.

Ring of Honor’s future direction to focus on non-contracted wrestlers

The future of Ring of Honor will focus on non-contracted indie talent, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the situation in-depth following Wednesday’s news that after December’s Final Battle pay-per-view, the company will take the first quarter of 2022 off to internally reassess their future.

Assuming they return, Meltzer said the plan will be to “essentially be an indie promotion” where they book top available talent on nights they have shows and TV tapings, leaving themselves open to issues if a champion gets signed to a deal elsewhere.

As previously reported, contracted talent will be paid through the early part of 2022 and can work elsewhere in the meantime outside their commitments for the final round of TV tapings in November and the Final Battle PPV.

Meltzer said that Sinclair didn’t cancel the ROH TV show and that at some point after the November taping footage is used up, they will use old footage for their weekly TV product until their presumed return.

Listen to their conversation about the situation below:

Technical issues at Sinclair cause change to this weekend’s ROH TV

Due to technical difficulties at Sinclair Broadcast Group, Ring of Honor has had to change its plans for this weekend’s episode of ROH TV.

It was announced on Wednesday night that, because of the technical issues at Sinclair, this weekend’s ROH TV will be an encore spotlight episode featuring past matches from Jay Lethal. The episode will air on Sinclair stations starting this Saturday.

“Because of technical difficulties experienced with our parent company, this week’s TV episode will feature an encore presentation spotlighting The Franchise of ROH, JAY LETHAL,” ROH wrote. “Take a look back at some of his most historic ROH matches against JAY BRISCOE & AJ STYLES!”

Sinclair was disrupted by a ransomware attack earlier this month.

This weekend’s ROH TV was supposed to be a special Halloween episode of the show. That episode will instead air exclusively on ROH’s YouTube channel at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, which is Halloween night.

The Halloween edition of ROH TV will feature Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) defending their ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles against Danhausen, PCO & Sledge. ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C & Quinn McKay vs. Miranda Alize & Max The Impaler is also set for the show, along with a Wildcard Trick or Treat Halloween four corner survival tag match with teams drawn at random.

ROH announced today that it’s going on hiatus after December’s Final Battle pay-per-view and will be taking the first quarter of 2022 to “work internally to reimagine ROH.” ROH talent won’t have their contracts renewed after the promotion’s remaining 2021 dates, and the wrestlers are able to work wherever they want immediately.

ROH not renewing talent contracts following hiatus announcement

Contracted talent signed to Ring of Honor won’t have their contracts renewed as the company looks to go on hiatus and re-evaluate in the first quarter of 2022.

Bryan Alvarez is reporting that contracted talent will not have their contracts renewed and are allowed to work anywhere they want immediately. They will also be paid through the end of the year. However, they will finish out remaining ROH dates for 2021. ROH will continue with a November television taping followed by their Final Battle pay-per-view, which will take place on December 11 at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.

Final Battle will be the first card to have fans in attendance since the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view in September. Recent television tapings have been held without fans.

Rumors that Sinclair Broadcasting, the parent company of Ring of Honor, has canceled ROH’s television show are not true.

ROH this afternoon released a statement saying they would not be holding shows in the first quarter of 2022 in order to “work internally ro reimagine ROH”. The statement also said that they anticipated a return to live events in April for their annual Super Card of Honor event.

Ring of Honor held their first event in February 2002. In 2011, they were purchased by Sinclair Broadcasting.

Ring of Honor to ‘reimagine’ company in first quarter of 2022

Ring of Honor announced on Wednesday that they will be taking the first quarter of 2022 to “work internally to reimagine ROH.”

The statement reads as follows:

“Throughout the pandemic, our top priority was to keep everyone healthy and safe, and despite not producing any live events over 18 months, we were able to keep everyone fully contracted.

We now find ourselves at a time where we need to make changes to our new business operations and are planning a pivot for Ring of Honor, with a new mission and strategy.

The year will culminate with a Final Battle in December, and we will be taking the first quarter of 2022 to work internally to reimagine ROH. ROH has the most dedicated fans in the industry, and we appreciate their loyalty and patience as we reconceptualize ROH.

We anticipate returning to live events in April for the Super Card of Honor with a new fan-focused product and provide a unique experience for wrestling fans.”

ROH, owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, has been holding closed set TV tapings in Baltimore, Maryland. They are holding the aforementioned Final Battle pay-per-view on Saturday, December 11th from the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore.

The show will be the first for the company with fans in attendance since September’s Death Before Dishonor PPV.

ROH TV results: Violence vs. Pure episode

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Before Quinn McKay appeared, cameras caught Vincent backstage. Vincent was standing in the mirror and asking himself and his fellow The Righteous stablemates if he looked good enough for a certain somebody.

Then, McKay appeared and gave her usual spiel. She then ran down the card of this week’s episode, which features a special Violence vs. Pure theme pitting members of Violence Unlimited against members of The Foundation. The matches scheduled are: Homicide vs. Jay Lethal, Brody King & Chris Dickinson vs. Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams, and Tony Deppen vs. Rhett Titus.

**********

Tony Deppen defeated Rhett Titus (12:23)

This match was a great display of the strengths of both wrestlers and gave Deppen a much-needed win in ROH.

Deppen tried to get cocky with Titus very early on, but Titus took him to the mat with a front facelock. Titus shifted the submission around and tried to keep Deppen’s head on a swivel. As the first commercial break ensued, Titus still had full control of Deppen after administering a few pin attempts.

When the bout returned, Titus picked the ankle of Deppen, sending both guys right back to the mat. After delivering a boot to the jaw, Deppen applied his own front facelock on the mat.

The match picked up steam at this point, with Deppen and Titus hitting their signature moves. Deppen ducked a few clotheslines from Titus but was met with Titus’ belly-to-belly suplex. Homicide came down to the ring to support Deppen, which lit a fire underneath the former ROH Television Champion.

After a second break, Titus attempted a running corner kick but got hung up. This prompted Deppen to springboard dropkick Titus to the arena floor, where he was met with a diving senton. Deppen would capitalize on this after throwing Titus back in the ring, where he delivered a chair shot to the mid-section of Titus while referee Todd Sinclair was busy with Homicide. Deppen followed it up with a running knee strike to get the win.

In a backstage promo after the match, Titus showed frustration with the fact that The Foundation didn’t help out when he was getting attacked.

**********

Violence Unlimited (Brody King & Chris Dickinson) defeated The Foundation (Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams) (12:52)

This was a really fun tag match that didn’t feature the usual tag match formula of the heels dominating everything.

Before the match, Violence Unlimited cut a promo. Chris Dickinson basically challenged ROH to bring Karl Gotch back from the dead to stop the faction’s current run.

Shortly before the bell rang, The Foundation jumped Violence Unlimited from behind. The chaos didn’t last for long as Brody King and Jonathan Gresham became the legal men. Gresham was isolated by both King and Dickinson as they exchanged a multitude of tags. Tracy Williams eventually snuck his way in the match and immediately planted Dickinson with a superplex before the commercial break.

Williams had a cool sequence where he practically square danced on both of Dickinson’s ankles. This was a turning point in the bout, as Gresham came in and applied a few ankle-based submissions. After a few more tags, the match went to a second break.

As the break returned, King hit an inverted atomic drop on Williams before turning it into a Boston Crab. King tagged out to Dickinson and took Gresham off the apron, making it a two-on-one affair yet again. Dickinson would go on to put Williams in a sleeper hold, prompting Williams to pass out.

**********

Jay Lethal defeated Homicide (5:37)

This was fine for what it was — but given the history, I would have had the match go longer.

The two competitors stayed out after the previous tag match and immediately went to war with each other.

Jay Lethal took out Homicide with a springboard dropkick and a trio of dives to the outside. Homicide responded with his own diving senton before both men crawled back in the ring.

The two traded big strikes to the midsection before climbing to the top rope. Lethal used the positioning to toss Homicide off the middle rope and hit a dropkick. Lethal went to attempt a Figure Four leglock and found a fork taped to the inside of Homicide’s boot. Homicide jumped up and tried to stab Lethal with the fork, but instead planted it inside of the turnbuckle.

As the match progressed, Lethal became more targeted with his strikes. After nailing Homicide with a superkick, Deppen made his presence known at ringside. Deppen went to hand Homicide a chair, but he was bulldozed by The Righteous’ Dutch who came out of nowhere. Shortly after, Lethal hit a Lethal Injection for the win.

As the show went off the air, The Righteous stood on the stage and applauded Lethal to much confusion.

**********

Next Week —

  • ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) defend against Danhausen, PCO & Sledge
  • Quinn McKay & Rok-C vs. Miranda Alize & Max The Impaler
  • Wildcard Trick or Treat Halloween four corner survival tag team match (all of the teams will be drawn at random out of a jack-o’-lantern)

**********

Final Thoughts —

Aside from a main event that I wasn’t crazy about, this week’s episode of ROH TV was one of the better ones in recent memory. The show followed a consistent theme and wasn’t just packed with nonsensical tag team bouts. Every match was good or better, meaning:

This week’s ROH TV gets a grade of: Go Out Of Your Way to watch.

NWA women’s tag title match set for ROH Women’s Division Wednesday

The NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions are stepping through the “forbidden door” for a title defense in ROH.

NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions The Hex (Allysin Kay & Marti Belle) will defend their titles against ROH’s The Allure (Angelina Love & Mandy Leon) on next week’s episode of ROH Women’s Division Wednesday. The show premieres on ROH’s YouTube channel at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesdays.

Kay & Belle cut a promo calling The Allure bullies and announcing that ROH’s Maria Kanellis-Bennett and the NWA’s Mickie James had agreed to a title match between the two teams.

Kanellis-Bennett tweeted about the match: “Mickie James and I had a very nice chat about this match after The Allure tried to interfere in Chelsea Green’s match against Ashley Vox 2 weeks ago. When I said at the PPV there is no door, I meant it!! The NWA Tag Titles will be on the line next week!! @nwa @MickieJames”

James wrote: “Haha!!! Yas Baebee!!! #HEXmarksthespot I know my girls @Sienna & @MartiBelle are gonna do us so proud! @nwa  After all…. that’s what the #NWAWomensTagChamps do!”

Kay & Belle won the newly reintroduced NWA Women’s Tag Team titles at this August’s Empower pay-per-view, defeating Red Velvet & KiLynn King in the finals of a one-night tournament.

Kay and Belle were both entrants in ROH’s Women’s World Championship tournament this year. Kay made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Trish Adora, while Belle lost to Adora in the first round. The tournament was won by Rok-C.

Six-Man Tag Team title match set for Halloween episode of ROH TV

The ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles will be on the line on a special Halloween edition of ROH TV.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) will put their Six-Man Tag Team titles on the line against Danhausen, PCO & Sledge on the episode, which premieres the weekend of Saturday, October 30. The announcement of the match was made on the latest edition of ROH Week By Week.

PCO will be departing ROH when his contract expires at the end of November.

It was also announced that the Halloween episode will feature a Wildcard Trick or Treat Halloween four corner survival tag team match where all of the teams will be drawn at random out of a jack-o’-lantern. Plus, ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C will team with Quinn McKay against Miranda Alize & Max The Impaler.

Before the Halloween episode, this weekend’s ROH TV will be a Violence vs. Pure edition of the show pitting members of Violence Unlimited against members of The Foundation. Homicide vs. Jay Lethal, Brody King & Chris Dickinson vs. Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams, and Tony Deppen vs. Rhett Titus are set for the show.

ROH TV results: Tag Team titles on the line

Quinn McKay joined us from the ROH studio and ran down the card for this week’s show which featured an eight-man tag between The Foundation and the team of Taylor Rust, Eli Isom, Joe Keys and World Famous CB as well as an ROH Tag Team title bout between current champion Dragon Lee and Kenny King vs. S.O.S (Moses and Kaun).

ROH World Tag Team Champions La Facción Ingobernable (Dragon Lee & Kenny King) defeated S.O.S (Moses and Kaun) to retain (12:53)

This was a really fun match and although it would have been even better with a crowd, both teams came out of it looking strong.

The champions immediately retreated from the ring as the bell rang, making Moses and Kaun look strong. Lee eventually climbed in the ring and went face to face with Moses. S.O.S were able to throw Lee out of the ring and isolate King going into a commercial break.

After the break, S.O.S were still in full control but working over Lee instead of King. Kaun had positioned Lee on the apron for a suplex, but King was able to grab his foot and turn the move in Lee’s favor.

Lee and King kept the momentum after that, taking turns isolating Kaun. Moses was finally able to get the tag, coming in and clearing house.

The finish of the match saw Bestia Del Ring come down to the ring to distract referee Todd Sinclair right before he was about to count the pin after S.O.S’s finishing maneuver. Shane Taylor came down to run off Bestia, but due to the referee’s distraction, King poked Kaun in the eye and hit a Royal Flush. Lee followed it up with his Incinerator knee strike and the duo pinned Kaun for the win to retain the belts.

The Foundation (Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams) defeated Eli Isom, Joe Keys, Taylor Rust and World Famous CB (17:50)

This was a fine way to showcase the Pure division wrestlers in ROH, but it went way too long.

Williams and Rust started off. Both teams took turns sending different competitors in the match, wrestling for a few seconds and then tagging out. Isom and Lethal had the longest exchange, which played mostly throughout a commercial break.

Stories developed as the match went on with Gresham and Keys going at it with a “teacher vs. student” dynamic. Keys got Gresham off his game ever so slightly which sent the match into another gear.

The constant tags continued, but became one-sided as Rust began isolating Lethal and tagging in and out. Once Isom came in, Lethal was able to fight back and made the hot tag to Williams while Isom tagged out to CB.

Williams planted CB with a doctor bomb, shifting the control of the match towards The Foundation. It didn’t last for long as Rust came in and began to target Titus, including hitting his Perfect Circle neckbreaker.

The finish of the match saw more chaos, but it came down to Gresham and Keys. Gresham took a few clotheslines and suplexes from Keys which resulted in a very good near fall. Gresham was able to catch Keys in a moment of rest and twisted the leg, turning it into a drop toehold lock which Keys eventually succumbed to.

The show ended with a Vincent vignette. The video didn’t contain much meaningful dialogue, but it seems like Vincent will be joining the division soon.

Next Week:

  • Rhett Titus vs. Tony Deppen
  • Chris Dickinson and Brody King vs. Jonathan Gresham and Tracy Williams
  • Homicide vs. Jay Lethal

Final Thoughts:

This week’s episode of ROH TV featured two fun matches, but the length of both were questionable. Due to ROH’s TV format, though, these matches often tend to run a bit longer than they should.

Final Battle is nearing closer and closer, so I expect some storylines for that show to begin advancing soon.

In recent weeks, I have introduced a scale (Must Watch TV, Go Out of Your Way, Recommended Viewing, YouTube clips, Avoid at all Costs) in order to let you know if the current week of TV is worth your while. This week’s episode of ROH TV falls under Recommended Viewing.

ROH sets date for Final Battle 2021

ROH has revealed when this year’s Final Battle pay-per-view will be taking place.

It was announced today that Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore will host Final Battle 2021 on Saturday, December 11. The show will air live on PPV and HonorClub.

“Final Battle, Ring of Honor’s ultimate pay-per-view show of the year, returns to Baltimore’s Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena on Saturday, Dec. 11. Final Battle has been ROH’s biggest annual event since the company’s inception in 2002. The star-studded extravaganza has produced a multitude of memorable moments, including Match of the Year winners and five ROH World Title changes,” ROH wrote.

“Scores will be settled, championships will be decided, and the best wrestlers on the planet will pull out all the stops at Final Battle.”

ROH noted that fans should stay tuned to ROHWrestling.com and ROH’s social media channels for ticket on-sale information. Final Battle will be the first ROH show with fans in attendance since September’s Death Before Dishonor PPV.

The week before Final Battle, there will be a number one contender’s match to determine who will challenge for Rok-C’s ROH Women’s World Championship at the PPV. Willow Nightingale booked her spot in the number one contender’s match by defeating Angelina Love and Miranda Alize on the latest episode of ROH TV. Willow will face either Trish Adora, Allysin Kay, or Mandy Leon in the number one contender’s match.

ROH TV results: Bandido & Rey Horus vs. The OGK

Location: Philadelphia, PA

The Soldiers of Savagery (Moses & Kaun) defeated Dalton Castle & Dak Draper (9:10)

The Briscoes joined commentary for this match.

Dalton Castle and Kaun started off the bout. They exchanged a few moves on the mat as Castle tried to toy with Kaun’s focus. Castle was able to get the upper hand and tag out to Dak Draper. Draper was met by a furious Kaun, who took control of the match back and tagged out to Moses. As the match went into a commercial break, S.O.S had full control of Draper.

The tides turned as the match returned from the break. Castle and Draper hit a few double-team moves as Moses got fired up on the apron for the hot tag.

Once Moses came in, he bulldozed everybody in sight and even scared Castle’s chickens off. Eventually, Moses and Kaun worked together and hit a double-team DDT for the win.

Following the match, Dragon Lee & Kenny King jumped S.O.S. After Lee & King left the ring, S.O.S challenged them to an ROH Tag Team title match. That title match is set for the next episode of ROH TV.

Willow defeated Angelina Love and Miranda Alize in a Women’s Championship Contender’s match (8:32)

Chelsea Green was on commentary here.

Willow was targeted by both Miranda Alize and Angelina Love right off the bat. She tried to fight it off but was met with strong resistance as the match went to commercial.

Willow finally found a way to defend herself against the two other opponents as we returned from the break. Both Alize and Love were hit with a combination of kicks and punches before Willow did a very impressive second rope dropkick on Alize.

Alize and Love stopped teaming together and went to blows with each other. Willow still was firing on all cylinders and kept hitting big move after big move on both women.

Near the end of the match, Love punted Alize off the apron with the Botox Injection kick. Willow capitalized on that by rolling Love up for the three count.

Willow will move on to face the winner of another triple threat match between Trish Adora, Mandy Leon, and Allysin Kay. The winner of that singles encounter will challenge Rok-C for the ROH Women’s World Championship at Final Battle.

The OGK (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated ROH World Champion Bandido & Rey Horus (12:07)

Mike Bennett and Rey Horus started off the match. They exchanged a few maneuvers but came to a stalemate as a commercial break ensued.

Matt Taven and Bandido squared off but also came to a stalemate, which prompted Bennett to come in and hit some double-team moves with Taven. Taven & Bennett practically played the role of the heels as Horus eventually made a hot tag and cleared the ring.

Taven was overwhelmed by the double team from Bandido and Horus, prompting him to tag out to Bennett. The match broke down here and saw everybody hit big moves. All four wrestlers were eventually down and out at one point.

While Bennett had Horus on his back and in position for a stunner, The OGK hit a double-team move where Taven connected with a kick on Horus and Bennett planted Horus to get the win.

The OGK and Bandido & Horus showed respect to each other and exchanged words after the match.

Final Thoughts —

Despite all three of these matches being good/great, this episode of ROH TV felt uninspired and lacked a feel of importance.

Also, Bandido has lost four matches since winning the ROH World Championship. Even though they were all tag matches in some way or form, any champion just doesn’t need to lose that much.

Rey Horus loses…way too much. He’s 4-11 this year in the company. Horus is a phenom of a talent so I hope this is leading to something down the line.

I’m very happy with Willow picking up the victory, and I’m rooting for her to get the Women’s title match at Final Battle.

I’ve introduced a scale in order to let you know if the current week of ROH TV is worth your while. The scale is as follows:

Women’s title contender’s match set for ROH TV

ROH has revealed how Rok-C’s challenger for Final Battle will be decided.

Over the next several weeks, two triple threat matches will take place to determine the two wrestlers who will advance to face each other in a number one contender’s match. The winner of that match will challenge for Rok-C’s ROH Women’s World Championship at Final Battle.

The first of the triple threat matches will take place on this weekend’s episode of ROH TV. It will feature Miranda Alize, Angelina Love, and Willow.

Allysin Kay, Mandy Leon, and Trish Adora will be the participants in the second triple threat match.

The two triple threat winners will meet in their number one contender’s match the week before Final Battle. Details on when this year’s Final Battle pay-per-view will be taking place haven’t been announced.

Rok-C defeated Alize in the finals of ROH’s Women’s World Championship tournament at Death Before Dishonor last month. Rok-C is the inaugural ROH Women’s World Champion, with the title replacing the old Women of Honor World Championship.

On the latest episode of ROH TV, Rok-C was confronted by Love, Leon, Alize, Adora, Willow, and Kay. Maria Kanellis-Bennett then revealed that those would be the six wrestlers vying to challenge Rok-C at Final Battle.

Alize attacked Rok-C on the ramp after the confrontation.

ROH World Champion Bandido & Rey Horus vs. The OGK (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) is also set for this weekend’s ROH TV episode, along with The Soldiers of Savagery (Moses & Kaun) vs. Dalton Castle & Dak Draper.

ROH TV results: Violence Unlimited eight-man tag match

The Big Takeaway: As the journey to Final Battle begins, two tag matches take place and ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C makes an appearance.

The Briscoes defeated Alex Zayne & Taylor Rust (11:16)

Rust and Mark started the match. Rust showed his technical prowess early on, working down Mark and keeping him from hitting any big moves. Rust and Mark continued to exchange holds and strikes as the match transitioned into a commercial break.

When the bout returned from break, Zayne and Jay became the legal men. Zayne tried to pull some of his usual tricks on Jay, but was instead met with a clothesline from the former World Champion.

There was a point in the bout where Mark and Jay isolated Zayne, keeping him away from Rust. The two brothers took turns beating down Zayne before he eventually reversed a few moves and made a tag to Rust.

Rust came in and he thought he took out Jay, then shifted his attention to Mark and locked in an arm-based submission. Jay came back and immediately broke up the submission as the match went into a second commercial break.

As the match returned, Zayne hit an inside-out springboard moonsault to both Briscoe brothers who were standing on the outside of the ring. This wouldn’t keep either brother down for long, as the finishing sequence saw Jay hit a Jay-Driller on Rust followed by a Froggy Bow elbow drop from Mark for the win.

Rok-C interview

Brian Zane was joined by the ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C for an in-ring interview. Rok-C explained what winning the title meant for her, before being interrupted by The Allure.

Leon and Love ran down Rok-C and expressed that the “C” in her name stands for a word that can’t be said on television. Miranda Alize, Trish Adora, Willow, Allysin Kay, and Maria Kanellis-Bennett all trotted their way down to the ring shortly after.

Bennett made two three way matches that will lead to a number one contender’s match which will determine Rok-C’s challenger for Final Battle.

VLNCE UNLTD (Brody King, Chris Dickinson, Homicide & Tony Deppen) defeated Danhausen, Demonic Flamita, PCO & Sledge (15:05)

Danhausen and Homicide shared the ring to start the bout. They squabbled back and forth for a bit before going to a commercial break.

As the match returned, Flamita and Deppen became legal. Flamita took Deppen lightly, which caused him to tag out to Dickinson. Dickinson didn’t last for long either, as he hit a few moves on Flamita and tagged out to faction leader, Brody King.

Sledge became the center of attention, as VLNCE UNLTD isolated him and kept him from tagging out. Sledge was beat down for what felt like forever, but eventually made the tag to PCO.

PCO cleared the ring into a commercial break. When the break returned, he squared up with King. After King nailed PCO with a piledriver, he did his usual “malfunction” shtick and began targeting members of his own team, including hitting a chokeslam on Danhausen and a moonsault on Sledge.

The finish of the match saw a ton of tags being exchanged, but Sledge took the pin after King delivered a Ganso bomb.

Final Thoughts:

This week’s edition of ROH TV was rather uneventful and skippable.

The show featured two good matches, but nothing was advanced in terms of storylines other than Rok-C’s title challengers being teased. Nothing on the show was bad, just uneventful.

Jonathan Gresham entering ROH World title division

One of ROH’s top wrestlers has their sights set on the World title.

On Monday morning, ROH uploaded a video with Jonathan Gresham announcing that he’s entering the ROH World Championship division. Gresham had been part of the Pure title division.

Gresham lost the ROH Pure Championship to Josh Woods at last month’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view. In the video where Gresham announced that he’s switching to the World title division, Gresham told Woods that he’s happy and proud that Woods was the one who dethroned him. Gresham said he feels confident that Woods will do things in the Pure division the same way that he did.

Gresham said The Foundation still needs numbers and still needs more Pure wrestlers. Woods shook Gresham’s hand and echoed Gresham in saying “I am The Foundation,” indicating that he’s joining the group. Jay Lethal, Tracy Williams, and Rhett Titus are also part of The Foundation.

Bandido is the current ROH World Champion. He defeated Rush to win the title at Best in the World this July.

Gresham’s announcement is available to watch below:

Trish Adora signs contract with Ring of Honor

Another member of the ROH women’s division has officially signed with the company.

It was announced tonight that Trish Adora has signed a contract with ROH. The announcement was made by Maria Kanellis-Bennett after Adora defeated Sumie Sakai on this week’s edition of Women’s Division Wednesday.

Adora made her ROH debut on Women’s Division Wednesday this May. She was an entrant in ROH’s Women’s World Championship tournament, making it to the semifinals before losing to Miranda Alize.

Adora is a United States Army veteran who holds the Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Championship.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Rok-C, Alize, and Max The Impaler have signed with ROH. Rok-C became ROH Women’s World Champion by defeating Alize in the tournament finals at Death Before Dishonor.

ROH wrote about Adora signing with them:

Ring of Honor is pleased to announce that ‘The Afro-Punk’ Trish Adora has signed with the company.

The announcement was made by ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett during this week’s episode of Women’s Division Wednesday following Adora’s victory over former Women of Honor World Champion Sumie Sakai.

Adora, the reigning Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling Champion, made it to the semifinals of the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament, scoring wins over Marti Belle and Allysin Kay before losing to Miranda Alize.

An Army veteran, Adora made her pro wrestling debut in 2016 and has trained at the Team 3D Academy and also with Jonathan Gresham and The World Famous CB.
