John Cena: ‘I am not a babyface, I am not a heel, I am a human being’

John Cena is blaming the fans.

The 16-time World Champion kicked off this week’s episode of WWE Raw in Belgium with an in-ring promo—his first appearance on WWE programming since turning on Cody Rhodes and aligning with The Rock at Elimination Chamber. Addressing the WWE fans, Cena said he has been in “an abusive relationship” with them for 25 years.

“For 25 years, I’ve been the victim, okay? I have been the victim of an abusive relationship,” Cena said.

“All you do is be hurtful. All you are is abusive. And all of you’ve ever done is bully me into being your damn puppet and expected me to do with a smile on my face. No more.”

“Look, I am not a babyface. I am not a heel. I am a human being. And each and every one of you has been awful to me.”

Regarding his retirement tour, Cena said, “I try one last time to get along with you guys. I tried one last time to do something nice for you and you ruined it, just like you ruin everything.”

Cena then turned his focus to what he referred to as the “Let’s go Cena” fans.

“You claim to support me. What have you ever done?” Cena asked. “What have you ever done for me? All you ever do is steal from me. You steal my personal moments. You steal my time.”

He closed his promo by saying he was “breaking up with each and every one of you.”

Cody Rhodes then confronted Cena, saying he doesn’t want to face this version of him at WrestleMania.

“Even after what you did, I was excited at the prospect of going week to week face to face with John Cena and instead I got this. Well, this better not show up at WrestleMania because if it does, I run it over, I run it out because I already took its best shot and it wasn’t good enough. I retire it early. So, go find John Cena, cause I want to wrestle him at WrestleMania 41, not this whiny b**ch,” Rhodes said.

Today’s episode is taking place at the Forest National Arena in Brussels, Belgium, as part of WWE’s European tour. The show began at 3 p.m. Eastern. Our live coverage is available here.

Two matches added to WWE Raw lineup

Two matches have been added to the lineup for tomorrow night’s WWE Raw.

Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Naomi & Bianca Belair vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez are now scheduled for the show.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced the news on Sunday in a video posted to social media.

Pearce said:

“Monday Night Raw tomorrow night live from Atlanta, GA, where I have two big matches to announce. First things first, off of what happened last week, both men have requested it, and that request is approved. It will be Sami Zayn one-on-one with Drew McIntyre.”

“Plus, women’s tag team action. Bianca Belair and Naomi will oppose the team of Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. And you best bet that Lash and Jakara are watching this one cause they got their eyes on the prize this Tuesday on NXT.”

Naomi and Belair will also be in action at this week’s WWE NXT. They are scheduled to defend their titles against Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend on the show.

The story with Zayn and McIntyre is that Zayn has never won a singles match they’ve had. They met twice on WWE programming last month, with McIntyre defeating Zayn at Saturday Night’s Main Event and the December 16 Raw.

The announced WWE Raw lineup for Monday, January 27:

  • Logan Paul appears
  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes appears
  • World Tag Team Champions The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) defend against The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh)
  • Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Naomi & Bianca Belair vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez
