WWE SmackDown video highlights: Tama Tonga debuts

SmackDown’s WrestleMania 40 fallout episode took place from Detroit on Friday night.

Changes were made to The Bloodline, but it’s not clear who’s calling the shots. Former NJPW wrestler Tama Tonga made his WWE debut as the newest member of the group. He joined forces with Solo Sikoa as Jimmy Uso was kicked out of The Bloodline. Sikoa and Tonga attacked Jimmy and beat him down last night.

Sikoa and Tonga’s attack of Jimmy happened without Paul Heyman knowing about it in advance — and it appears that Roman Reigns may not have known either. Reigns wasn’t on SmackDown following his loss to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.

Rhodes made his first SmackDown appearance as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. His first title defense will be at Backlash against either LA Knight or AJ Styles. A Knight vs. Styles number one contender’s match is set for next Friday’s SmackDown episode.

Both Knight and Styles won triple threat matches last night to advance to the number one contender’s bout. Knight vs. Styles is a rematch from WrestleMania. In that first meeting, it was Knight who got the victory.

We know that Bayley’s first WWE Women’s Championship defense will be against Naomi next Friday. Naomi earned the title shot by defeating Tiffany Stratton last night.

WWE SmackDown video highlights: Owens & Zayn attack Bryan

Daniel Bryan appeared on last night’s SmackDown just hours after it was announced that he’s been cleared to return to the ring by WWE, and it didn’t take long for him to get physical.

Bryan opened the show by reflecting on his road to being cleared and thanked WWE and their doctors, Brie Bella, and the fans for everything they’ve done for him over the last couple of years. He then came back out to address Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in the main event segment, “fired” them for their attack on Shane McMahon, and tried to fight them off after being attacked.

After Bryan used a takedown and hit “Yes” kicks, a German suplex, and corner dropkicks, Owens and Zayn regained the advantage. They hit Bryan with a Helluva Kick and an apron powerbomb, with Bryan being stretchered out to close the show.

Also on SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura faced Rusev and didn’t need AJ Styles’ help to handle Rusev and Aiden English following the match, Carmella helped Natalya win a non-title match against Charlotte Flair, and Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, and Jinder Mahal continued their WrestleMania program.
