The 2024 Slammy Award winners have been announced.
Cathy Kelley and Big E hosted the awards ceremony on Sunday at the Philadelphia Convention Center as part of WWE World. R-Truth was also on hand as a special correspondent, although he believed he was at the Academy Awards.
The tagline for this year’s event was “The Fans Choice Awards” as winners were determined via fan vote. It was the first time the Slammys have been held since 2020.
The 2024 Slammy Award winners are:
2024 Slammy Award for Best Entrance — Cody Rhodes
The nominees were Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Cody Rhodes, Dominik Mysterio at WM39, Rhea Ripley, Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Seth Rollins.
Rhodes accepted the award via video. He thanked Downstait and all the fans for the award.
2024 Slammy Award for Match of the Year — Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39
The nominees were Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber 2023, Flair vs. Ripley at WM39, Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest at WWE Backlash 2023, Asuka vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2023, and Gunther vs. Chad Gable on WWE Raw,
Ripley accepted via video. She said she’ll put the award with all the others she’s won throughout the year. Kelley said she would personally give Ripley the trophy later.
Flair came out in person to accept her award. She said all she wants to do every match is steal the show. Flair said she was proud of Ripley too and is coming back at WrestleMania 41 to win it again.
2024 Slammy Award for Breakout Superstar of the Year — LA Knight
The nominees were Dragon Lee, Jey Uso, Knight, Pretty Deadly, and Tiffany Stratton.
Knight accepted via video. He said he’s created a great foundation, and now he’s going to create an empire.
2024 Slammy Award for NXT Superstar of the Year — Tiffany Stratton
The nominees were Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, Lyra Valkyria, and Stratton.
Stratton came out in person to accept the award. She asked everyone what time it was, and the crowd responded that it was “Tiffy Time.” She said she couldn’t think of anyone else who could win the award but her. Sal from Impractical Jokers came out and Stratton tried to give him her coffee order.
2024 Slammy Award for Rivalry of the Year — Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes
The nominees were Dominik Mysterio vs. Rey Mysterio, Reigns vs. Rhodes, Bianca Belair vs. Damage CTRL, Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre, and R-Truth vs. The Judgment Day.
Rhodes accepted via video. He said he is honored to accept the award and he said he hopes it’s a consolation award for Reigns after he loses the title tonight.
2024 Slammy Award for Faction of the Year — The Judgment Day
The nominees were Alpha Academy, The Bloodline, Damage CTRL, Imperium, and The Judgment Day.
Mysterio was on hand to accept the award in person but a video featuring all five members aired as well. Priest said they are going to be even more successful over the next year.
2024 Slammy Award for Social Star of the Year — Drew McIntyre
The nominees were Logan Paul, Liv Morgan, Chelsea Green, Grayson Waller, and McIntyre.
Before the award winner could be announced, Green hit the stage and appeared to assume she was the winner. She grabbed the award and tried to talk over Kayla Braxton as she was announcing McIntyre as the winner. McIntyre said if she didn’t calm down, he would have security “escort” her out of the building, referring to an incident Green had recently with Fairmont Hotels. Green stayed on stage and sulked for the rest of McIntyre’s speech.
A big CM Punk chant broke out as McIntyre accepted the award. McIntyre said he wanted to “focus on the negative” and said his match with Sheamus and Gunther at Mania last year deserved to be nominated for Match of the Year. He then dedicated the award to Punk but Green grabbed the trophy and ran off.
2024 Slammy Award for Female Superstar of the Year — Rhea Ripley
The nominees were Bayley, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, IYO Sky, and Ripley.
Ripley accepted via video and said everyone complained about her all year but then voted that Mami is always on top.
2024 Slammy Award for Male Superstar of the Year — Cody Rhodes
The nominees were Gunther, Logan Paul, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins.
Rhodes accepted via video. He thanked everyone for voting for him and said the milestone was not lost on him and he also thanked the fans for getting him back in the main event of WrestleMania.
2024 Slammy Award for OMG Moment of the Year – CM Punk returns at WWE Survivor Series 2023
The nominees were Rey Mysterio punching Dominik Mysterio on the March 24, 2023 SmackDown, IYO Sky cashes in MITB at SummerSlam 2023, Punk returns at Survivor Series 2023, Damage CTRL turns on Bayley on the February 2, 2024 SmackDown, The Rock slaps Cody Rhodes at WM40 press conference, Cody Rhodes slaps The Rock on the March 8, 2024 SmackDown.
Punk accepted in person and talked about WWE’s popularity being a runaway freight train right now because of all the passionate fans. He said he can’t wait to have boots and trunks on at next year’s event.
2024 Slammy Award for Return of the Year — CM Punk at WWE Survivor Series 2023
The nominees were Nia Jax, Randy Orton, CM Punk, The Rock, and Naomi.
Punk was already on stage and said that again, he wouldn’t have any moments if it wasn’t for the fans. He said as much as he’d like to share it with Rock or Orton, he decided to share it with the fans. He also said if it was ten years ago he’d have to call them the “WWE Universe.”
