‘NXT Evolve’ show in the works for 2025

While WWE NXT Level Up is no longer, another new show in addition to WWE LFG is apparently in line that will fill the void.

Reported by Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT Evolve will be coming at some point in 2025, headed up creatively by longtime wrestling executive and EVOLVE founder Gabe Sapolsky.

Meltzer reported that the essence of the show would be similar to Level Up in featuring NXT development wrestlers who aren’t regulars on TV but “that instead of just matches, to do angles and promos and book it more like a television show.”

The landing spot for such a show was not reported other than Meltzer saying, “It will be shows taped only for television/streaming.”

WWE purchased EVOLVE in whole in 2020 after entering into a partnership in 2015.

Shortly after the release of the WON, PWInsider posted some additional notes about the rumors, saying there’s a belief tapings would be at the Performance Center and using talent under WWE ID deals, perhaps a reason some of those prospects were shown on camera recently on NXT TV.

They also added that Sapolsky signed a new contract with WWE in late-2024 and that the impending WWE LFG on A&E is still considered as the successor to Level Up and not whatever this show could turn out to be.

Elijah Holyfield makes WWE debut prior to NXT taping

The son of boxing great Evander Holyfield has made his WWE debut.

Elijah Holyfield made his WWE debut prior to Tuesday’s live edition of NXT, wrestling Anthony Luke. Pictures taken from the crowd indicate the match may be a part of the upcoming A&E reality show ‘WWE LFG’, which will debut early next year.

Holyfield is a former NFL player for the Bengals whose career in that sport ended following a knee injury in the summer of 2022. WWE confirmed his signing last month. Luke is also a new recruit with football experience, having played for San Diego State.

Evander Holyfield made an appearance during an episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event in 2007, defeating Matt Hardy in a boxing match.

From The Wrap, WWE LFG will see “existing legends will mentor aspiring wrestlers as they compete in the ring with WWE contracts on the line. The series will also feature behind-the-scenes content of their training process.”

Triple H, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Mickie James will appear on the show.

WWE, A&E to launch ‘LFG’ reality competition show

WWE is once again returning to world of competition/reality TV with the newly-announced ‘WWE LFG’ series that will air on A&E.

The primary goal of LFG (which stands for “Legends & Future Greats”) will be “mentoring the next generation of athletes” and will include Triple H, the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, and the returning Mickie James.

It will debut in “early 2025.”

From The Wrap, “the existing legends will mentor aspiring wrestlers as they compete in the ring with WWE contracts on the line. The series will also feature behind-the-scenes content of their training process.” It’s unclear if this will mainly focus on those currently at the Performance Center or if it will involve any athletes currently under the new WWE ID contracts.

For James, it will be her first WWE on-screen work since appearing in the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble. Her husband, Nick Aldis, is the on-screen general manager for WWE SmackDown.

It’s the latest advancement in the partnership between WWE and the cable network. Friday’s announcement included news of a new season of ‘WWE Rivals’ and a new half-hour show called ‘WWE’s Greatest Moments.’ The Michael Cole-hosted program is a clip show “to share vivid recollections and perspectives on the most remarkable moments in wrestling history” with guests like Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, and Kevin Owens.

The new season of ‘Rivals’ will feature looks at the Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior and Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins rivalries.
