DragonKing Dark: The story of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez

Our next installment in our 100 darkest moments in pop culture history involves the story of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Hernandez was an elite level football player whose off the field exploits landed him in prison and later dead.

Despite being one of the best players on his national championship winning team in college, the coach didn’t want him back for his senior season so he entered the NFL draft where many teams wouldn’t touch him. The Patriots finally did but a few murders later, they regretted that decision.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: The true crime story of Jose Gonzalez

Image: NotiCel

We all know the story of the killing of Bruiser Brody. In this latest true crime deep dive, I focus in on his killer (Jose Gonzalez) instead of rehashing the whole story once again.

The popular version of that story is that Gonzalez murdered Brody in a shower by stabbing him and then was not convicted due to a corrupt court system in Puerto Rico. The motive: either Brody wouldn’t do a job, it was a money issue, or it was revenge by Brody bullying Gonzalez in the past.

But is that all really true? Let’s look at Jose “Invader 1” Gonzalez on this week’s DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: The true crime story of Buck Zumhofe

Buck “Rock and Roll” Zumhofe was a staple of the 1970s-80s pro wrestling scene.

While largely a mainstay in the AWA and winning their World Junior title several times, he also worked in both World Class and WWF regularly.

However, he was also a convicted sex offender and everybody knew it as he spent a stint in prison between runs in the AWA and WWF. Then, he was arrested again but this time it was far worse. He’d done it again — only this time it was with his daughter. And still, many people knew.

I examine the deplorable crimes of Buck Zumhofe on this week’s DragonKing Classic Wrestling Show.

DragonKing Dark: Dr. Thomas Neill Cream

On this week’s edition of DragonKing Dark, we continue our serial killer series with a man who “may” have claimed to be Jack the Ripper — Dr. Thomas Neill Cream. His claim to have been Jack the Ripper (if he even actually made that claim) seems suspect at best, but even if he wasn’t he had a string of killings attached to him in both the United States and England during the Victorian Era.

On this episode of DragonKing Dark, we take a look at the claims and killings of Dr. Neill Cream.
