Abadon vs. Tay Conti not airing on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite

Dave Meltzer confirmed on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio that the previously scheduled Abadon vs. Tay Conti match for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite will not be airing.

On Saturday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez said the match taped last Thursday had to be ended early due to Abadon catching an elbow to the throat and having difficulty breathing. The match was stopped and she was sent to the hospital for evaluation. He said no one is really talking much about the situation.

He believes they taped a Shawn Spears match to put in its place but couldn’t confirm.

This Wednesday’s show will feature a TNT Championship lumberjack match between Cody and Orange Cassidy; the second round of the AEW World title no. 1 contender tourney featuring Kenny Omega vs. Penta El Zero M (filling in for the injured Fenix) and Hangman Page vs. Wardlow; and an Inner Circle town hall to discuss whether MJF should join the group.

AEW announces signing of Tay Conti

AEW has announced a new addition to its roster.

It was officially confirmed today that Tay Conti has signed with AEW. She made her debut for the promotion by teaming with Anna Jay in the Women’s Tag Team Cup this summer.

Conti & Jay defeated Ariane Andrew & Nyla Rose in the first round of the Women’s Tag Team Cup but lost to Ivelisse & Diamante in the semifinals. On Dynamite two weeks ago, a storyline began where The Dark Order and Jay recruited Conti and offered her a contract to join Jay in the group.

Conti (real name Taynara Melo de Carvalho) is a 25 year old who was born in Brazil and has a background in judo. In April, she was released by WWE as part of the company’s roster cuts. She signed with WWE in 2016 and had been part of the NXT roster prior to being released.

In her first match since it was announced that she’s signed with AEW, Conti will be in action against Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) on tonight’s post-All Out episode of Dynamite.
