The Bloodline, Team Belair win WWE Survivor Series WarGames matches

Sami Zayn proved his loyalty to The Bloodline at Survivor Series: WarGames.

Saturday’s pay-per-view concluded with The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, The Usos, Solo Sikoa & Zayn) defeating Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Butch, Drew McIntyre & Kevin Owens in the men’s WarGames match. Jey Uso pinned Owens to win the match after Zayn stopped Owens from pinning Reigns.

Owens hit a pop-up powerbomb and a stunner on Reigns near the end of the match, but Zayn stopped the referee from counting to three. Though Zayn looked conflicted about what he did, he then gave Owens a low blow. Zayn charged at Owens to hit a Helluva Kick. He then put Owens in position for Jey to connect with a top rope splash on Owens.

The show ended with The Bloodline standing tall and everyone in the group hugging Zayn — even Jey Uso. It was said on commentary that Zayn is now much more than an “Honorary Uce.”

There had been a show-long storyline questioning whether Zayn would be loyal to The Bloodline or Owens. While Jey doubted Zayn, Reigns chose to believe him. Zayn stayed true to The Bloodline throughout the match despite Jey accidentally giving him a superkick at one point.

Earlier in the night, Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Mia Yim & Becky Lynch defeated Bayley, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, Nikki Cross & Rhea Ripley in the women’s WarGames match.

Belair and Lynch were able to take out all three members of Damage CTRL. Belair hit a KOD on Bayley into the side of the cage, then Lynch jumped off the top of the cage and gave Kai and SKY a leg drop through a table. Lynch pinned Kai to get the win.

Two WarGames matches to take place at WWE Survivor Series

WarGames is coming to the WWE main roster.

It was revealed via The Ringer today that WWE’s first-ever main roster WarGames matches will take place at “Survivor Series WarGames” this November. The pay-per-view is being held at the TD Garden in Boston on Saturday, November 26.

There will be a men’s WarGames match and a women’s WarGames match at the PPV. While speaking with The Ringer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque said WWE is changing its approach for Survivor Series. Instead of the traditional Raw vs. SmackDown format, the WarGames matches will be storyline driven.

“We’ll have a men’s WarGames match and a women’s WarGames match. The tradition of the Survivor Series has ebbed and flowed and changed slightly over time, but this will be similar to that,” Levesque said. “This will not be Raw versus SmackDown. It will be much more story-line driven. I still look at it as a traditional component to Survivor Series in there because it’s large teams of people competing. We just upped the ante a little bit with WarGames and made it evolve.”

WarGames being brought to the main roster comes after Levesque was named WWE’s new head of creative this July following the retirement of Vince McMahon. Levesque has been given the title of Chief Content Officer in WWE.

Originally created by Dusty Rhodes, WarGames was an iconic match type for the NWA and WCW. The first WWE WarGames match took place in 2017 when Levesque introduced the concept to NXT. An NXT WarGames event was held every year from 2017 to 2021.

“I love the original ones, the very first ones, with the Horsemen and Dusty and the Road Warriors and everybody else. Those were always my favorites. It was a different time in the business, a simpler time in the business,” Levesque told The Ringer.

“One of the things that Vince used to always say is if you put yourself in the seats, you could never go wrong. Now, all fans have different points of view. All you gotta do is go online now and you’ll see every single person has a different point of view and they’re happy to express it. But I think if you go out there and you think, What would you wanna see? If you’re a fan and you just love what we do, what would you want to see?”

Levesque also told The Ringer that WWE has figured out how to arrange the floor for WarGames so they can have two rings without losing any seats.

Survivor Series WarGames is the second of two WWE PPVs being held in November. Saudi Arabia will host Crown Jewel on Saturday, November 5.
