Source: ShowBuzz Daily

Friday Night SmackDown on Fox averaged 2.084 million viewers for the August 13 episode, down 3.9 percent from the previous week.

The show finished fifth for the night on the networks in terms of total viewers and was third among original programming.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.58 rating, down 4.9 percent from the previous week. That topped all of television by a large margin, with the next highest program being ABC’s Shark Tank at a 0.43.

SmackDown also led all of TV with a 0.33 rating in the 18-34 demo. That was down 18 percent from the previous week.

Year-over-year, SmackDown was up 4.1 percent in overall viewers but down 3.3 percent in 18-49.

In some markets, preseason NFL football aired in SmackDown’s time slot last Friday.

As compared to the 10 week average of 2,034,400 viewers prior to this week, SmackDown was up 2.4 percent. In the 18-49 demo, the show was up 7.4 percent from the 10-week average of 0.54.

Friday night’s Throwback edition of SmackDown averaged 2.282 million viewers on Fox, up 13.1 percent from the previous week’s episode that went against night two of the NFL Draft. It was the best audience for SmackDown since the Royal Rumble go-home show on January 29.

The 18-49 demo number of 0.65 was up 32.7 percent from the previous week and matches SmackDown’s best rating in that category since January 15.

While the show finished in its usual spot at the bottom of the network rankings in terms of total viewers, it topped all of television in 18-49, finishing more than 20 percent ahead of Shark Tank on ABC, which came in second.

In the 18-34 demo, SmackDown was up 43.3 percent from the previous week, drawing a 0.43 rating. SmackDown also topped all of TV in that category.

Year-over-year, SmackDown was up 12.7 percent in overall viewers. The show was also up 30 percent in 18-49 and up 43.3 percent in 18-34 as compared to the same week last year.

Here’s a look at last week’s viewership totals and key demo numbers for the four most-watched wrestling shows:

  • WWE Raw: 1.872 million viewers (0.53 in 18-49, 0.32 in 18-34)
  • WWE NXT: 761,000 viewers (0.18 in 18-49, 0.08 in 18-34)
  • AEW Dynamite: 1.090 million viewers (0.42 in 18-49, 0.19 in 18-34)
  • WWE SmackDown: 2.282 million viewers (0.65 in 18-49, 0.43 in 18-34)

WWE SmackDown ratings down against NFL Draft

Final ratings are in for this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown. The show averaged 2.018 million viewers on Fox, down 4.9 percent from the previous week.

It’s the second-lowest audience SmackDown has drawn since January

The main reason for the drop would have to be SmackDown going against night two of the NFL Draft, which averaged about six million viewers between the three different channels it aired on. The SmackDown episode was headlined by a high-stakes Universal Championship match where Daniel Bryan put his SmackDown career on the line and lost to Roman Reigns.

SmackDown finished in its usual last place among network television programming in total viewers.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.49 rating, down 9.3 percent from the previous week. That led all of network TV but trailed ESPN’s coverage of the NFL Draft. The draft drew a 0.91 rating in the 18-49 demo on ESPN, which is a monstrous number in that demo for a Friday night time slot.

In 18-34, SmackDown drew a 0.30 rating, down 6.3 percent from the previous week. That also led the networks but was way behind NFL Draft coverage on ESPN, which drew a 0.70 in that category.

Year-over-year, the numbers held up pretty well, all things considered. SmackDown’s viewership was up 7.1 percent from the same week last year. It was down two percent in 18-49. The 18-34 number was actually up 50 percent year-over-year, so that would mean the audience is skewing younger.

Here’s a look at last week’s ratings for all four major wrestling shows:

  • WWE Raw: 1.774 million viewers (0.49 in 18-49, 0.23 in 18-34)
  • WWE NXT: 744,000 viewers (0.22 in 18-49, 0.11 in 18-34)
  • AEW Dynamite:  889,000 viewers (0.33 in 18-49, 0.16 in 18-34)
  • WWE SmackDown:  2.018 million viewers (0.49 in 18-49, 0.30 in 18-34)

WWE SmackDown viewership steady with post-WrestleMania episode

Friday night’s SmackDown averaged 2.121 million viewers on Fox, virtually identical to the 2.119 million viewers the show averaged for its post-WrestleMania 37 episode the previous week.

As it usually does, SmackDown finished last among network programs in terms of total viewers.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.54 rating, down 3.6 percent from the previous week. That ranked second on the networks behind ABC’s Shark Tank and also beat everything on cable for the night.

In 18-34, SmackDown drew a 0.32 rating, up 10.3 percent from the previous week. That beat everything on the networks and was tied for second on all of television on Friday night. SmackDown tied one of the two NBA games on ESPN and finished behind the other NBA game.

Year-over-year, SmackDown was up 5.8 percent in overall audience. It was also up eight percent in 18-49 and up 6.7 percent in 18-34.

Here are the total viewership and key demo numbers for all four major wrestling shows last week:

  • WWE Raw; 1.907 million viewers (0.61 in 18-49, 0.36 in 18-34)
  • WWE NXT: 841,000 viewers (0.23 in 18-49, 0.10 in 18-34)
  • AEW Dynamite: 1.104 million viewers (0.37 in 18-49, 0.17 in 18-34)
  • WWE SmackDown: 2.1251 million viewers (0.54 in 18-49, 0.32 in 18-34)

WWE SmackDown ratings down for post-WrestleMania episode

Final numbers are in for Friday’s post-WrestleMania 37 edition of SmackDown. The episode averaged 2.119 million viewers on Fox, down 5.8 percent from the previous week. It was the lowest viewership for SmackDown since March 19.

SmackDown finished last among the major networks in terms of total viewers. Everything else on the networks drew over 2.8 million viewers.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.56 rating, down 8.2 percent from the previous week. The show finished well behind last week’s Raw in that demo, which is the first time that’s happened in the same week since Raw Legends Night this January.

SmackDown finished tied for third among network programming in 18-49 on Friday night. The show beat everything else on cable for the night in that category.

In 18-34, SmackDown drew a 0.29 rating, down 21.6 percent from the previous week. The show usually finishes second in that category on TV, but it was fifth on the networks on Friday and also finished behind an NBA game on ESPN to rank sixth on television.

Year-over-year, SmackDown was down 3.1 percent in overall viewership. It was down 6.7 percent in 18-49 and 27.5 percent in 18-34, so the show skewed much older than it did this week in 2020.

Here’s a look at last week’s ratings for all four major wrestling shows:

  • WWE Raw: 2.026 million viewers (0.68 in 18-49, 0.42 in 18-34)
  • WWE NXT: 805,000 viewers (0.22 in 18-49; 0.10 in 18-34)
  • AEW Dynamite: 1.219 million viewers (0.44 in 18-49, 0.26 in 18-34)
  • WWE SmackDown: (2.119 million viewers; 0.56 in 18-49, 0.29 in 18-34)

WWE SmackDown ratings up for WrestleMania eve episode

Friday night’s WrestleMania edition of SmackDown, which featured go-home promos from all three wrestlers in Sunday’s main event as well as matches that essentially served as the Mania pre-show, averaged 2.25 million viewers on Fox.

The show trailed all network programming with the exception of a repeat of NBC’s The Blacklist in terms of overall viewers, but it was the highest total for SmackDown since March 10. It was up 5.3 percent from the previous week’s viewership.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown was up seven percent to a 0.61 rating. That was second on all of television behind ABC’s Shark Tank and was the best total for SmackDown in the key demo since February 10.

SmackDown drew the same 0.37 rating in the 18-34 demo as it did the previous week. SmackDown was third on television in 18-34, trailing The Masters Golf tournament on ESPN and Shark Tank.

As compared to the same week last year, SmackDown was down 2.9 percent in viewers but up 1.7 percent in 18-49. Other than the Christmas night episode last December, it’s the first time SmackDown has seen a year-over-year increase in the demo since it passed the one-year mark on Fox.

In 18-34, SmackDown was down 7.5 percent year over year.

WWE SmackDown viewership down, 18-49 rating steady

The Friday, April 2 edition of SmackDown averaged 2.137 million viewers on Fox, down 2.5 percent from the previous week.

This put Fox in last place among the major networks in terms of total viewers. No other network averaged less than 2.7 million viewers on the night.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew the same 0.57 rating that it had drawn the past two weeks. That was third on the networks and fourth overall on television. There was stronger-than-usual competition as the women’s Final Four on ESPN averaged 1.7 million viewers for the early game and 2.7 million viewers for the late game. Parts of both games aired directly opposite SmackDown. The late game did a very strong 0.59 rating in 18-49, which topped all of cable.

In 18-34, SmackDown drew a 0.37 rating, down 5.1 percent from last week. SmackDown was second on all of television in that category as the strong ratings with younger viewers continue on the Road to WrestleMania.

As compared to this week last year, SmackDown was down 10.9 percent in total viewers. It was only down five percent in the 18-49 demo and down 7.5 percent in 18-34.

WWE SmackDown ratings up from last week, first on TV in 18-34

Friday night’s Fastlane fallout edition of SmackDown averaged 2.191 million viewers on Fox, up 4.7 percent from the previous week.

As usual, it wasn’t enough to lift  Fox out of last place in viewership among the major networks. No other major network averaged less than three million viewers on the night.

SmackDown did finish second on the networks, and all of television, with a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demo, the same number it did the previous week. In the 18-34 category, SmackDown drew a 0.39 rating, up 14.7 percent from the previous week. The difference in the younger viewers being up was probably due to the fact that there were no NCAA tournament games this week going against SmackDown.

SmackDown topped all of television in the 18-34 demo, with Shark Tank on ABC finishing second with a 0.32 rating.

As compared to the same week last year, SmackDown was down just 7.4 percent in overall viewership. The show was down 18.6 percent in the 18-49 demo and down only 2.5 percent in 18-34.

WWE SmackDown ratings down for second straight week

Final ratings are in for this past Friday’s Fastlane go-home edition of SmackDown. The show averaged 2.093 million viewers on Fox, down 3.6 percent from last week. It’s the lowest number for SmackDown since February 12.

The main competition on the night was the first round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament with various games airing on CBS and assorted cable channels. Those broadcasts dominated the network and cable ratings charts.

SmackDown drew a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 6.6 percent from last week. That beat everything else on television with the exception of the basketball games.

Daylight savings time likely also played a part in the number being down as the fast nationals showed a much higher than usual increase from hour one to hour two. This was the first week since the time change.

SmackDown drew a 0.34 rating in 18-34, down 2.9 percent from last week. That also beat everything else on TV except the tournament games.

Year-over-year, SmackDown was down 18.5 percent in overall viewership. There was no NCAA tournament last year as it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SmackDown was also down 28.8 percent in 18-49 and down 32 percent in 18-34 year-over-year.

The Friday, March 12th edition of WWE SmackDown on Fox averaged 2.171 million viewers while also seeing a uptick in the key 18-49 demo.

While the viewership was down 3.6% from the prior week, the show averaged a 0.61 rating in 18-49, up 1.7% from the prior week.

The demo trailed only ABC’s Shark Tank on the networks, but beat everything on cable and was the best number for the show since February 10th. Viewership-wise, SmackDown was the sixth-ranked show out of seven on the major networks, beating a repeat of CBS’s Clarice.

In 18-34, Smackdown averaged a 0.35 rating, down 5.4% from the prior week, also good for second on TV in that category.

As compared to the same week last year, the show was down 12.1% in total viewers and 12.9% in 18-49. They were also down 12.5% in 18-34 with the consistent drop across all demos indicating the average age of viewership was likely almost identical to last year.

WWE SmackDown ratings down slightly for Rumble go-home show

Friday night’s SmackDown on Fox averaged 2.304 million viewers, down 3.3 percent from the previous week. It’s the third-highest viewership for the show since November.

The final viewership number was up from the 2.228 million viewers that the episode averaged in the fast nationals.

SmackDown drew a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 1.6 percent from the previous week. It’s the second straight week of declines in the demo, but the show still topped all of television in that category for the day on Friday.

In the 18-34 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.38 rating, up 11.4 percent from last week, so this episode definitely had a younger audience than the previous week. That also topped everything on television for the day.

In terms of total viewers, SmackDown did finish last out of all network TV shows on Friday, with the next lowest being 2.9 million for ABC’s 20/20.

Year-over-year, SmackDown continues to hold up better than other WWE programming. In total viewers, the episode was down 4.9 percent. It was down 11.4 percent in the 18-49 demo and 24 percent in 18-34.
