Rick Boogs: Shinsuke Nakamura has been out of action with hand injury

During an appearance on Fox Sports’ Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Rick Boogs revealed why Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura has recently been out of action.

Boogs said Nakamura suffered a hand injury that has kept him away from in-ring competition. Nakamura hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Boogs to defeat Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss at a house show in Rockford, Illinois on December 18.

Boogs spoke about Nakamura’s injury when asked if he’s interested in eventually breaking out and doing more singles work in WWE.

“I think it’s inevitable that it’s gonna happen. I’m not looking to like rush it by any means because I feel like me and Shin have not even scratched the surface yet of what we can do together, combining our forces,” Boogs said.

“We’re just getting cooking here. We’ve only had a couple of tag matches together. And he suffered a hand injury that’s kept him out for close to two months now it seems like. So, I’m kind of just looking forward as of right now for him to be healthy and cleared and then us just kick some tail. And then from there, down the road we’ll branch off. I’m in no rush with that.”

Boogs said the only time he hasn’t had Nakamura by his side was at a house show the day after Christmas.

Nakamura has remained on TV while not wrestling.

Sami Zayn became the number one contender to Nakamura’s Intercontinental title by winning a 12-man gauntlet match on the Christmas Eve episode of SmackDown. A date has yet to be set for that title match.

Tag team Trick or Street Fight set for WWE SmackDown

A Halloween-themed tag team match is set for tonight’s SmackDown on FS1.

WWE has announced that Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs will face Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss in a Trick or Street Fight on tonight’s SmackDown. On last week’s show, Corbin defeated Nakamura in a non-title singles match.

Nakamura lost last week’s match after being distracted by an argument between Boogs and Moss. Corbin capitalized on that by throwing Nakamura into the steel steps and then hitting End of Days inside of the ring to get the win.

Nakamura defeating Corbin for his crown earlier this year was the reason that Corbin’s storyline of being down on his luck began. Things turned around for Corbin and he became Happy Corbin after winning money in Las Vegas while there for SummerSlam.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The show is airing on FS1 due to game three of the World Series being on Fox. After tonight’s SmackDown ends, the show will replay on FS1 at both 10 p.m. Eastern time and midnight.

Two segments, tag match announced for WWE SmackDown

WWE has announced two segments and a tag team match for tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

After making her return at SummerSlam, new SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will appear on tonight’s SmackDown. The show will also feature Universal Champion Roman Reigns hosting a championship celebration.

Plus, Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs will face Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode in tag team action on SmackDown tonight.

At SummerSlam, Lynch defeated Bianca Belair in under 30 seconds to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. It was Lynch’s first appearance on WWE programming since announcing her pregnancy in May 2020.

Belair defending her title against Sasha Banks was originally set for SummerSlam, but it was announced just before the match was supposed to start that Banks wouldn’t be able to compete. WWE teased that Carmella would be taking Banks’ place in the SmackDown Women’s Championship match, but Lynch then laid out Carmella and challenged Belair to face her instead.

Reigns retained his Universal Championship against John Cena in the main event of SummerSlam. The returning Brock Lesnar then confronted Reigns.

Nakamura defeated Apollo Crews on SmackDown two weeks ago to win the Intercontinental title. Nakamura & Boogs defeated Crews & Commander Azeez on last Friday’s episode of the show.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
