WWE launches free WWE Network tier, Raw Talk returning

The WWE Network’s free tier has officially arrived.

WWE announced the launch of the free tier today, hyping that “more than 15,000 action-packed WWE titles” are now available for free. That free content includes:

New shows including Raw Talk, streaming Monday nights each week immediately following Raw

Groundbreaking original series including Monday Night War, Ride Along, Table for 3, Photo Shoot and Story Time

Recent episodes of WWE’s flagship programs Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown and NXT

Select historical WWE pay-per-views and NXT TakeOver events

Weekly WWE highlights, Top 10, WWE’s The Bump, WWE Now, The Best of WWE and WWE Timeline

Raw Talk is making its return as part of the free tier. Charly Caruso and Samoa Joe will host the post-show following tonight’s Raw.

“The launch of WWE Network’s Free Version is a key component of our company’s digitization strategy and a new way for all fans to be able to experience premium WWE content,” said Jayar Donlan, WWE Executive Vice President, Advanced Media. “As we continue to reimagine WWE Network’s offering, the Free Version will serve as an effective way to reach a broader group of consumers and allow them to experience the history and spectacle of WWE.”

An update on a potential VIP tier for the WWE Network wasn’t mentioned. WWE said last July that they were planning on rolling out a tier system within the next 12 months, with the VIP tier coming several months after the launch of the free tier.

Goldberg discusses his WWE future after Raw

Though he didn’t appear on the Raw after WrestleMania, Goldberg discussed his future after the show went off the air.

Goldberg made his way out in front of the Amway Center crowd for a promo to open the Raw post-show on the WWE Network. When it was over, he left the door open for a return while also saying that it could be the last time we see him in a wrestling ring.

During the segment, Goldberg said that this wasn’t part of the show and reflected on coming back last October. He noted that he had to think about his physical limitations, age, and desire when making the decision then. He shut down a few negative chants before turning his attention to his wife and son in the front row and talking about how much they mean to him.

Goldberg said that he’s lived in the gym for the last six months to show his family a glimpse of who he used to be. He mentioned that this could be the last time we see him in a ring, but said he’s willing to do whatever it takes to be him as long as his family appreciates it.

After calling WrestleMania XX a debacle, Goldberg said that he felt his match with Brock Lesnar went well on Sunday night. He said you never know what or who is next, then dropped the microphone before picking it back up and saying to never say never.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the segment on the post-Raw edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer noted that the promo pretty much reflected Goldberg’s actual situation. Goldberg’s deal with WWE expired after WrestleMania 33. There are no current plans for him going forward, though everyone involved feels like his return was a big success and Goldberg is open to coming back under the right scenario.

WWE posted video of the end of the promo:
