Image: AEW

On a new Josh Nason’s Punch-Out, I welcome royalty for the very first time in the one and only Prince Nana of AEW & Ring of Honor.

The Prince and I talked for an hour about a career that began in 1996 and is still going strong today. Among the many topics we discussed:

  • Wrestling in MSG for WWE
  • Being a part of Ring of Honor over several different eras, what drove him away, and the surprising story of how he got brought back by Tony Khan
  • His emotional response on what his friend Homicide has meant to his career and life
  • His partnership with Swerve Strickland and if there were ever concerns about them getting split up
  • The moment at AEW Revolution where Strickland took a knee and gave him his robe back
  • And, of course, the origin of his famous dance
  • And, of course part two, how he got involved in the coffee game

All that and more awaits. Listen below or on Spotify/Apple Podcasts by searching ‘Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online.’

Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana appearance added to AEW Dynamite

Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana are set for AEW Dynamite.

Tony Khan announced on social media that the two will appear on this Wednesday’s show in Oceanside.

“After Nana came alone last Wednesday to try to reason with @KingRicochet, we’ll hear from both Nana + Swerve Strickland TOMORROW!,” he wrote.

On last week’s Dynamite, Ricochet was in the ring talking when Nana came to the ring by himself and asked Ricochet for the jacket that he stole after defeating Swerve Strickland on the February 5 edition of Dynamite. He pleaded with Ricochet, pointing out the jacket’s history. Ricochet, however, flatly rejected any intention of giving the jacket back.

Earlier in the week, it was announced that The Undisputed Kingdom will take on Daniel Garcia and FTR on Dynamite.

AEW Dynamite announced lineup for Wednesday, February 26, 2025:

  • AEW International title: Konosuke Takeshita defends against Orange Cassidy
  • The Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, & Roderick Strong) vs. Daniel Garcia & FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
  • Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Keith
  • Harley Cameron vs. Deonna Purrazzo
  • Hangman Page in action
  • We’ll hear from Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana
  • MJF will appear

Details on Swerve Strickland’s new AEW contract revealed

This past Sunday at AEW All In, then-AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland was shown signing a new contract with Tony Khan.

Some of the details of that deal are now known, courtesy of this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the new deal will keep Strickland in AEW through September 2029 and is one that financially puts the now-former champion in striking distance of the very top stars of wrestling.

Meltzer said it was hinted to him that the contract is in the range of the recent contracts Mercedes Mone and Kazuchika Okada signed with AEW, but not in the realm of the deals top talents like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton have with WWE.

Meltzer noted that the Strickland deal came together a few weeks ago with the announcement saved for All In.

He also reported that WWE “tried to make a play for the Strickland & Prince Nana act.” It’s unknown if that is related to the contract tampering that Khan claims is still happening.

Strickland first signed with AEW in March 2022 after being cut from WWE in November 2021 as part of the company’s mass releases. Nana, a Ring of Honor regular, reportedly re-signed with AEW for multiple years last September.

Report: Prince Nana signs multi-year contract with AEW

Prince Nana is reportedly remaining in AEW.

Fightful Select reported Saturday that Nana has signed a multi-year contract with AEW. The report noted that Nana’s work with The Mogul Embassy stable has received “high marks” within the company.

Nana had been part of Ring of Honor from early in its lifespan, managing wrestlers throughout the years in his stable called The Embassy. Last year, Nana returned to ROH under Tony Khan and revealed he had purchased Tully Blanchard Enterprises in storyline, reforming The Embassy stable once more with Brian Cage, Kaun, and Toa Liona. They are the current ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions.

Earlier this year, Swerve Strickland revealed he had merged his Mogul Affiliates stable with The Embassy, forming The Mogul Embassy.

On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Hangman Page was about to cut a promo when Nana and Srickland came out. Strickland revealed that he was targeting Page next and wanted the spot, Strickland claimed, that Page acted like he didn’t want. After Strickland went after his family, Page went to attack Strickland but was laid out from behind by Cage.

Prince Nana purchases Tully Blanchard Enterprises at ROH Death Before Dishonor

The Embassy has returned to Ring of Honor.

In a backstage interview during ROH Death Before Dishonor Zero Hour, Prince Nana appeared and told Lexy Nair that he has purchased Tully Blanchard Enterprises from Blanchard, which consists of ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham, Brian Cage, and The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona and Kaun). Immediately after, it was revealed that the group would be going under The Embassy name.

Cage and the Gates of Agony proceeded to wrestle on the ROH Zero Hour card, defeating Alex Zayne, Blake Christian, and Tony Deppen. Gresham will compete later in the show, defending the ROH title against Claudio Castagnoli.

The Embassy was a stable in ROH going as far back as 2004, led by Prince Nana. Notable names that were part of the stable at one time include Jimmy Rave, Alex Shelley, Abyss, Necro Butcher, Erick Stevens, and Tommaso Ciampa, among others.

Tully Blanchard Enterprises was formed at the ROH Supercard of Honor event in April, with Blanchard managing Gates of Agony and Cage. Two weeks ago on AEW Rampage, Gresham turned on tag team partner Lee Moriarty and joined forces with TBE. Blanchard was seen with the group as recently as this Friday’s Rampage, where they were shown in the crowd during a Castagnoli promo.
