Don Callis Family, Red Velvet added to June AEW & ROH vs. CMLL event

The names keep being added to next month’s AEW vs. CMLL week at Arena Mexico.

Announced during Wednesday’s CMLL Informa show, Konosuke Takeshita, Rocky Romero & Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family have been added to the Tuesday, June 17th show featuring AEW & ROH vs. CMLL.

The trio will battle Averno, Hechicero & Ultimo Guerrero in a trios bout.

Additionally, Ring of Honor Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet has been added to the same show as she battles CMLL Women’s Universal Champion Persephone. It was not confirmed if either title, or both, are on the line. Persephone will make her Tony Khan-owned company debut later this month in El Paso, Texas, assumed to be for ROH.

All of the AEW competitors have previously competed in CMLL.

The centerpiece of the week is AEW making their Dynamite debut in Arena Mexico on Wednesday, June 18th followed by Fantasticamania on Friday, June 20th featuring Thunder Rosa.

CMLL’s Persephone to make AEW/ROH debut next month

Persephone will be making her AEW/ROH debut next month.

AEW has released advertising for the upcoming tapings on May 28 in El Paso, Texas that will feature CMLL star Persephone’s debut in her hometown. Also advertised is a six-man trios tag match pitting Atlantis Jr., Mascara Dorada, and Templario taking on Volador Jr., Magnus, and Hechicero.

Persephone has been making waves in recent months, winning the Universal Amazons Championship in CMLL back in October of 2024. She also qualified for the four-way match at Wrestle Dynasty at the Tokyo Dome on January 5 featuring talent from AEW, Stardom, CMLL, and ROH. She was unsuccessful, with Momo Watanabe emerging victorious over her, Athena, and Willow Nightingale.

AEW has used CMLL talent in the past, with most recently appearing on Ring of Honor. Both AEW and ROH are partnering with CMLL for a joint show in Arena Mexico called Grand Slam Mexico on June 18. Talent appearing the promotional poster inclue Mistico, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Mascara Dorada, and Hologram.

Featherweight title match announced for MLW Lucha Apocalypto

A new match has been announced for MLW Lucha Apocalypto

Women’s World Featherweight Champion Janai Kai will defend her title in a triple-threat match against CMLL’s Lluvia and Persephone on the show.

MLW announced the news on Tuesday, writing, “The stakes couldn’t be higher as Janai Kai, the reigning MLW Women’s World Featherweight Champion and member of CONTRA, faces the challenge of not one, but two of CMLL’s finest luchadoras, Lluvia and Persephone, in a triple threat, one-fall-to-a-finish title fight.”

The event takes place on Saturday, November 9, at Cicero Stadium in Cicero, Illinois.

Kai defeated Delmi Exo for the title at MLW Slaughterhouse 2023 a little over a year ago. She’s defended it ten times since then, including against Exo in a Taekwondo Rules match at last month’s MLW Pit Fighters show.
