Semifinals set for WWE NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

The semifinals are now set for the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

Karmen Petrovic and Arianna Grace both advanced on Tuesday’s show. As a result, Petrovic will face Lola Vice in the semifinals, while Grace will face Kelani Jordan. Both semifinal matches will take place next week on the first night of NXT’s Halloween Havoc.

Petrovic defeated Jaida Parker by submission, while Grace defeated Brinley Reese by pinfall. Petrovic, Parker, and Reese all made their NXT TV debut on Tuesday.

Originally, Grace was set to face Jakara Jackson. However, NXT announced Monday that Jackson was not medically cleared, and instead Reese would be taking her place. A skit with the rest of Meta-Four aired on Tuesday’s show to explain Jackson’s absence.

This is the second year in a row that NXT has held a Women’s Breakout Tournament. On last week’s NXT, however, Cody Rhodes announced that a Men’s Breakout Tournament would betaling place after the Women’s tournament had concluded. Rhodes also announced that the Duty Rhodes Tag Team Classic would be returning.

Kelani Jordan advances in WWE NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

Kelani Jordan is the first to advance in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

Jordan defeated Izzy Dame in the first round, scoring the win with a split-legged moonsault. With the win, she advances into the semifinals where she will face the winner of Ariana Grace and Jakara Jackson.

The 2023 Women’s Breakout Tournament was announced last month, with participants being revealed during NXT No Mercy this past Saturday. Other matches in the opening round will have Karmen Petrovic face Jaida Parker and Dani Palmer will take on Lola Vice.

Jordan has been regularly featured on NXT television since June, defeating Tatum Paxley in her official NXT debut. She first started out with an association with Dana Brooke, but that ended once Brooke was released from WWE last month. Since then Jordan has been on her own, most recently losing to Blair Davenport in a kickoff match prior to Saturday’s No Mercy.

This is the second year in a row a Women’s Breakout Tournament has taken place. Last year saw Roxanne Perez defeat Tiffany Stratton in the finals.
