NXT confirms North American title match for TakeOver: In Your House

The card for NXT TakeOver: In Your House is up to five officially confirmed matches.

NXT’s Instagram account announced last night that Keith Lee will defend his North American Championship against Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: In Your House. Lee and Mia Yim have recently been feuding with Gargano and Candice LeRae.

Yim and LeRae will face off on next Wednesday’s episode of NXT.

Lee has been NXT North American Champion since winning the title from Roderick Strong in January. Gargano previously held the title in early 2019.

TakeOver: In Your House is taking place on Sunday, June 7. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • NXT Champion Adam Cole defending against Velveteen Dream
  • NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending against Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai in a triple threat match
  • NXT North American Champion Keith Lee defending against Johnny Gargano
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs. Karrion Kross (w/ Scarlett)
  • Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest

Cole vs. Dream has a stipulation where, if Dream loses, he can’t challenge for the NXT Championship again as long as Cole is champion.

WWE has also been building up an NXT Tag Team title match between champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) and Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, but when that will be taking place hasn’t been announced.

NXT Championship match official for TakeOver: In Your House

Velveteen Dream is getting one more shot at Adam Cole’s NXT Championship.

It was announced tonight that Cole will defend his NXT Championship against Dream at TakeOver: In Your House. The match has a stipulation where, if Cole wins, Dream can’t challenge for the title again as long as Cole is champion.

That announcement was made during a negotiation between Cole and general manager William Regal on tonight’s NXT. After making the match official for TakeOver, Regal added that he’s going to find a location for Cole vs. Dream that will shine a spotlight on their talents in a setting that’s worthy of the NXT Championship.

Cole retained his title against Dream on NXT three weeks ago. Roderick Strong, Bobby Fish, and Dexter Lumis all got involved in that match, and Dream got a visual pinfall on Cole following a ref bump. Strong then defeated Lumis on NXT last week. After the match, Lumis put Strong in a choke. Cole and Fish were about to attack Lumis, but Dream made the save and took them out.

NXT TakeOver: In Your House is taking place on Sunday, June 7. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • NXT Champion Adam Cole defending against Velveteen Dream
  • NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending against Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai in a triple threat match
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs. Karrion Kross (w/ Scarlett)
  • Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest

Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest set for NXT TakeOver: In Your House

After a challenge that was issued last week, a new match has been officially confirmed for NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest has been made official for the Sunday, June 7 TakeOver special. The announcement was made during Priest’s appearance on The Pat McAfee show this morning.

On NXT two weeks ago, there was an angle where Priest attacked Balor and cost Balor his match against Cameron Grimes. Priest gave Balor The Reckoning on a steel chair and then revealed that he was the person who attacked Balor in the NXT locker room last month. Priest said he wants his name to live forever and attacking Balor was part of that.

A promo from Priest then aired on NXT last week. He said Balor put NXT on the map, and that’s why he’s coming for Balor. Priest challenged Balor to a match at TakeOver.

Three matches have been confirmed for TakeOver: In Your House thus far. NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair will defend her title against Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai in a triple threat match at the show, and Karrion Kross (w/ Scarlett) will make his TakeOver debut against Tommaso Ciampa.

Triple threat Women’s title match set for NXT TakeOver: In Your House

The NXT Women’s Championship will officially be on the line in a triple threat match at TakeOver: In Your House.

WWE announced via TVGuide.com today that Charlotte Flair will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai in a triple threat match at the Sunday, June 7 TakeOver special. The announcement comes after Charlotte interrupted Ripley vs. Shirai in the main event of NXT this week and laid both of them out.

Her match against Shirai on NXT this Wednesday was this first time Ripley has wrestled since losing the NXT Women’s Championship to Charlotte at WrestleMania 36. WWE has been building to the triple threat match since Ripley made her return to NXT television after Charlotte got disqualified in a title defense against Shirai on the May 6 episode of NXT.

“Having the opportunity to be in the ring with two of the brightest stars, in my opinion, who have just started their future… I’m really excited to be a part of it,” Charlotte told TV Guide.

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Karrion Kross is the only other match that’s been officially announced for NXT TakeOver: In Your House so far. Damian Priest cut a promo challenging Finn Balor to a match at the special on NXT this week, and NXT North American Champion Keith Lee also issued a challenge to Johnny Gargano.

On tonight’s SmackDown, Charlotte will face SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley in a non-title champion vs. champion match.

Ciampa vs. Kross official for NXT TakeOver: In Your House

Karrion Kross’ first TakeOver match is now official.

It will be Tommaso Ciampa vs. Kross at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. That was confirmed when Ciampa confronted Kross on NXT tonight.

Kross and Scarlett kicked off tonight’s NXT episode. Kross had his second match for the brand, quickly destroying enhancement wrestler Liam Gray and submitting him with the Kross Jacket. Ciampa then came down and officially introduced himself to Kross. Ciampa told Kross that NXT is his home, but he said Kross already knew that. Ciampa said that’s why Kross made a point by attacking him.

Ciampa said Kross is special and stands out even in a locker room full of the best professional wrestlers in the world. But Ciampa said he’s special too, and that’s why he had to come out, look Kross in the eyes, and let him know it will be Ciampa vs. Kross at TakeOver. Ciampa welcomed Kross to the main event.

Tonight was the first time Ciampa has appeared on NXT since being attacked by Kross at the end of the April 15 episode of the show.

Kross made his NXT in-ring debut two weeks ago by defeating Leon Ruff.

NXT TakeOver: In Your House is taking place on Sunday, June 7. Ciampa vs. Kross is the first match confirmed for the show.

NXT TakeOver: In Your House announced for June 7th

On Wednesday’s edition of NXT on USA, it was announced that Sunday, June 7th will see the return of an old WWE pay-per-view name with NXT TakeOver: In Your House, live on WWE Network.

Flanked by Shawn Michaels and Road Dogg, Triple H said Thursday marks the 25th anniversary of the first WWE In Your House pay-per-view and because so many people are spending time in their houses, they wanted to bring the action to the fans. Michaels and Dogg were joking as Triple H didn’t want to talk about his first IYH match which was a hog pen match against Henry Godwinn at In Your House 5.

The last TakeOver was scheduled for WrestleMania weekend, but was canceled due to the pandemic. Before that, the last such event was held in mid-February in Portland, Oregon.

The first In Your House was held on May 14, 1995, in Syracuse, NY. At the time, the then-WWF held four PPVs a year and the IYH shows were two hour PPVs for slightly less money than the Big Four. The IYH name lasted for 29 events over four years, ending in February 1999.
