NJPW reveals cards for New Japan Showdown in San Jose & LA

With the shows now under a week away, NJPW has revealed the cards for their next trip to the United States.

New Japan Showdown in San Jose is taking place at the San Jose Civic in San Jose, California this Saturday (November 9). It will be headlined by a tag match, with Kazuchika Okada teaming with Will Ospreay against Kota Ibushi & Amazing Red.

Ibushi will challenge for Okada’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 14 night one on January 4. Amazing Red came out of retirement to face Ospreay on night one of this year’s Super J-Cup.

Two title matches are also set for New Japan Showdown in San Jose. Lance Archer will defend the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship against David Finlay, while Revolution Pro Wrestling British Cruiserweight Champion El Phantasmo will defend his title against SHO.

The San Jose event will feature Jushin Thunder Liger’s final match in the United States. He’s teaming with Aaron Solow against Toru Yano & Colt Cabana.

The Globe Theatre is hosting New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles next Monday (November 11). Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi & BUSHI will face Jay White, Chase Owens & Gedo in the main event.

The San Jose show will air live on New Japan World at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday.

Liger’s final US match set for New Japan Showdown in San Jose

NJPW has set a date for Jushin Thunder Liger’s final match in the United States.

It was announced tonight that Liger’s last US match will take place at New Japan Showdown in San Jose on Saturday, November 9. Who Liger will be facing in the match has yet to be revealed.

Liger will retire in January, with him having his final matches at Wrestle Kingdom 14 nights one and two.

NJPW has announced that Liger, Tatsumi Fujinami, The Great Sasuke & Tiger Mask IV will face Naoki Sano, Shinjiro Otani, Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Ryusuke Taguchi at Wrestle Kingdom night one on January 4. El Samurai will be in Liger’s corner, while Kuniaki Kobayashi will be accompanying their opponents.

Liger’s match for Wrestle Kingdom night two hasn’t been announced. His retirement ceremony will be held at New Year Dash on January 6.

The San Jose Civic is hosting New Japan Showdown in San Jose. New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles will take place at the Globe Theatre on Monday, November 11.

Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, and Taiji Ishimori have been added to both New Japan Showdown events. Kota Ibushi, Juice Robinson, Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, SANADA, Jay White, Chase Owens, Minoru Suzuki, and Lance Archer will also be on both shows, while Liger, Kazuchika Okada, and Will Ospreay will only be appearing in San Jose.

NJPW announces talent for New Japan Showdown events

NJPW has announced the first set of names for their New Japan Showdown tour in California.

There will be two New Japan Showdown events on the tour. New Japan Showdown in San Jose will take place at the San Jose Civic on Saturday, November 9, while the Globe Theatre will host New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles on Monday, November 11.

Of the wrestlers announced for the tour, Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and Jushin Thunder Liger will only be appearing at the San Jose show.

Tickets for New Japan Showdown in San Jose are going on sale this Friday (September 13) at noon Eastern time. Ticket information for New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles has yet to be announced.

New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles set for November

Another New Japan Showdown event is set for California this November.

NJPW has announced that New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles will take place at the Globe Theatre on Monday, November 11. New Japan Showdown in San Jose is also being held at the San Jose Civic on Saturday, November 9.

NJPW noted to stay tuned for ticket information and participating wrestlers for New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles.

Tickets for the San Jose event are going on sale this Friday (September 13). Talent announcements for the show have yet to be made.

This will be the second NJPW event to take place at the Globe Theatre. The venue also hosted the first show of NJPW’s New Beginning USA tour this January.

The Globe Theatre is the home venue of PWG.

NJPW was most recently in the United States for August’s Super J-Cup shows. The promotion is coming to the East Coast later this month for their Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour. It has stops in Lowell, Massachusetts on Friday, September 27, New York City on Saturday, September 28, and Philadelphia on Sunday, September 29.

NJPW coming to San Jose for New Japan Showdown

NJPW has added another date in the United States to their calendar for the remainder of 2019.

At night two of the Super J-Cup, it was announced that New Japan Showdown will take place at the San Jose Civic in San Jose, California on Saturday, November 9. NJPW noted to stay tuned for further details on participating wrestlers and ticket prices.

Tickets for New Japan Showdown will go on sale on Friday, September 13.

Night one of the Super J-Cup took place at Temple Theater in Tacoma, Washington, night two was at the San Francisco State University Student Life Events Center in San Francisco, California, and the tournament will wrap up at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on Sunday (August 25). The shows will be uploaded to New Japan World in September.

NJPW is coming to the East Coast of the United States next month for their Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour. It will begin at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts on September 27. The second show is at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on September 28, and night three is at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 29.
