WWE SmackDown live results: The last stop before the Royal Rumble

Date: January 24, 2017
Location: Huntington Center in Toledo, OH

The Big Takeaway —

Luke Harper was defeated by Randy Orton and laid out afterwards by Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles and John Cena had another verbal debate, and Dean Ambrose successfully defending the IC title against The Miz.

We’ll get to see Mickie James’ in-ring return at the Royal Rumble as she will join Alexa Bliss and Natalya in a 6-woman tag match against Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella and Naomi. Also, Mojo Rawley earned a spot in the Rumble match.

Show Recap —

Daniel Bryan was backstage about to take a bite out of an apple when Miz and Maryse jumped in to complain about being in Toledo and about having to share a locker room with the roster. Byan suggested they use a stall in the public restroom. Miz and Maryse fake-laughed at this.

Bryan instead gave him an IC title rematch against Dean Ambrose. Miz wanted a no DQ match but Bryan knew better and made it a Lumberjack match so the entire locker room can be at ringside. Bryan asked if Miz was happy, but Miz left and the crowd chanted “Yes.” Bryan bit his apple.

Randy Orton defeated Luke Harper

All three Wyatt Family members came out together. Bray watched from ringside in his rocking chair. Orton was cheered, Harper was booed. There was a spot where both guys went to the outside in front of Bray but he did not look at them. Instead, he kept his eyes locked on the ring.

Orton was all over Harper, hitting a draping DDT early on, followed by a backdrop onto the barricade and announce table. Harper came back with a big boot and both guys were laid out. Bray picked them both up and tossed them back in the ring. Commercial break.

Harper was in control after the break, but Orton managed to hit a superplex off the middle rope. Orton went for the RKO a couple of times, but Harper countered into a superkick for a nearfall. Orton then countered a discus clothesline into an RKO for the win. Match was ok and went just under 11 minutes. Crowd was super into Orton.

After the match, Bray shook Orton’s hand. Bray picked up Harper and gave him a hug but then followed by hitting him with Sister Abigail. Orton smirked at this. The announcers wondered if this was the end for Harper in the Wyatts or if it was just tough love.

They aired a dramatic recap of Alexa Bliss defeating Becky Lynch last week thanks to Mickie James. James is up next. They also aired a Royal Rumble feature on Triple H winning the 2002 Rumble match, last eliminating Kurt Angle. Triple H claimed he was told he would never come back from his quad injury.

AJ Styles will call out John Cena later tonight.

Mickie James Interview

Renee Young asked James about attacking Becky Lynch and revealing herself as La Luchadora. James told Renee that she won her first Women’s championship by defeating Trish Stratus at WrestleMania, was a 5-time Women’s champion and former Diva’s champion. Renee noted that James didn’t answer her question.

James said people like Becky Lynch want to claim to be leading a revolution as if her accomplishments meant nothing. Renee wanted her to elaborate and asked if Alexa Bliss was not part of the revolution. James said Bliss has been fighting the revolution and at least she remembered James’ accomplishments. James said Bliss was the reason she was here.

James said to forget the revolution, this is the reinvention of Mickie James. Becky Lynch marched to the ring and attacked James. James ran away into the crowd, but Biss suddenly appeared from the crowd to attack Lynch. They double teamed her again and Bliss finished her off with Twisted Bliss. James had some advice for Lynch: always be one step ahead. The crowd chanted “What” at James throughout this segment.

The Royal Rumble pre-show starts at 5pm ET and will be two hours. Yikes. Jerry Lawler and Shawn Michaels will be there.

They aired a pre-taped segment of Carmella and James Ellsworth out shopping. Ellsworth was wearing his ring gear, meaning he wasn’t wearing pants. Ellsworth tried on various outfits, all of which Carmella hated. She said one of them made him look like Sami Zayn but they shouldn’t dress alike just because they both got beat up by Braun Strowman. Carmella found a gaudy outfit for Ellsworth and they were both happy. This was bad.

Mojo Rawley won a 10-man Battle Royal to earn a Royal Rumble spot

Competitors were Heath Slater, Rhyno, Simon Gotch, Aiden English, Mojo Rawley, Curt Hawkins, Konnor, Viktor, Fandango and Tyler Breeze. Rawley won by last eliminating Fandango and Breeze. Not much to it. I guess I should note that the Vaudevillains were eliminated within seconds. Baron Corbin was on commentary and put over winning the Andre the Giant battle royal at WrestleMania.

They showed an interview Dasha Fuentes did with Nikki Bella as she arrived at the arena. Nikki pointed out one of the production trucks that featured both herself and John Cena on it. Nikki said the trucks featured a bunch of superstars, not just her, and her success has “nothing” to do with John Cena. Natalya showed up and noted that she’s not on any of the trucks. Nikki tried to attack her, which seemed like an overreaction, but Natalya ducked and tossed her into the side of the truck. Nikki came off poorly here to say the least. They should’ve just had Natalya attack her from behind.

John Cena announced on Twitter that he will be hosting the Kid’s Choice Awards.

AJ Styles calls out John Cena

Styles was super over. Before calling out Cena, Styles showed the Rumble poster on the big screen and complained about being positioned all the way at the back. He specifically blamed Shane McMahon (not Daniel Bryan) for this. He was about to complain about something else but called out Cena first.

Cena came out and got loud duelling chants. Cena was about to talk, but Styles stopped him. Styles showed a clip from the Today Show where Cena talked about having to face “some guy from Atlanta.” Styles was pissed. He called himself the champ who runs the camp and claimed nobody missed Cena while he was gone. This led to a “Cena” chant. Styles called them morons.

Styles called himself the face that took Cena’s place and that eats Cena up inside. Styles claimed Cena always had an excuse when he lost, but Cena himself is the only excuse because he’s a sorry excuse for a wrestler. He asked Cena what he has to do to earn respect around here and said he was going to stick his foot in Cena’s ass on Sunday.

Cena wondered where his respect was when people chanted that he sucked. He said Styles has been hot for 6 months, but Cena’s been running the place for a decade. Styles might call Cena a sorry excuse for a wrestler because he didn’t spend time on the indies, but Cena wasn’t built for the indies, he was built for the WWE.

He said Styles wasn’t a level below Cena, he was on the level below that. He called Styles “just a guy” holding onto the championship because Cena let him. He called Styles unoriginal, like every guy before him just trying to be like Cena, calling himself the face that runs the place. Cena called himself a bad man and said his time is now. Cena left to his music and Styles just looked on.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Kalisto

Ziggler won in under a minute. Kalisto tried a springboard move but Ziggler caught him with a superkick for the win. Afterwards, Ziggler grabbed a chair, but as he argued with JBL, Apollo Crews jumped him from behind. Crews tried to use the chair but Ziggler managed to escape.

Naomi vs. Natalya

The match never happened. Naomi entered first, but Natalya never showed. They cut to the back and Nikki had attacked Natalya. Some officials came in to separate them.

Naomi grabbed a mic and wasn’t happy with this. She challenged anyone from the back to a match. Alexa Bliss came out. She told Naomi to calm down because she wasn’t about to accept a challenge from a nobody. Naomi dared her to get in the ring so she could rip her hair out. Naomi wanted the title. Bliss teased getting in the ring but didn’t. Bliss told Naomi “say hi to obscurity for me.”

Talking Smack will once again be co-hosted by Shane McMahon and not Daniel Bryan. Guests will be AJ Styles, Mickie James and Mojo Rawley.

Dean Ambrose told Fuentes he trusts his instincts, which will help him overcome 29 other men to win the Rumble on Sunday, and no amount of lumberjacks will stop him from retaining the IC title tonight. I wish they did more for Ambrose as a Rumble contender. He likely won’t win but he is SmackDown’s top contender outside of the Wyatts.

They announced a 6-woman tag match for the main Royal Rumble card–Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella & Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss, Mickie James & Natalya. So I guess Bryan and Shane had no problem offering James a contract after all that stuff she did?

Lumberjack Match for the Intercontinental Title: Dean Ambrose defeated The Miz (w/Maryse)

Mauro Ranallo said Ambrose was cut from the same cloth as Steve Austin, Terry Funk and Roddy Piper. David Otunga called Miz a habitual line-stepper, which is the only good thing he has ever said on commentary.

Ambrose fought off some lumberjacks early on, but after sending Miz to the outside, pretty much all of the lumberjacks attacked Miz. After a break, Ambrose tried a rebound clothesline, but was pulled out of the ring by the heels and attacked. Otunga noted how unfair that was. The crowd chanted “Let’s go Ambrose” but stopped once Miz attempted Yes kicks.

Ambrose was sent to the outside again but fought off the lumberjacks, including Corbin who he tossed into the ringpost. Ambrose sent Miz to the outside and followed by hitting a suicide dive on Miz and a bunch of lumberjacks. Maryse held Ambrose back from entering the ring, which distracted him long enough for Miz to hit the Bryan running knee for a nearfall.

Miz did running dropkicks as well but Ambrose ducked the last one and sent him to the outside. Miz tried to run but the lumberjacks grabbed him and Ambrose did a big dive onto the pile. “This is awesome” chant.

Ambrose managed to hit the rebound clothesline but Corbin broke up the cover. All the lumberjacks got in the ring and brawled. The referee let the match continue. The ring was cleared after Ambrose sent Corbin over the top. Miz used the distraction and did a schoolboy but Ambrose kicked out. Ambrose followed with Dirty Deeds for the win.

This was pretty entertaining and the crowd was into it. As Ambrose posed alone in the ring, the announcers wondered if this would be the scene at the Rumble.

WWE SmackDown live results: Orton & Kane vs. Wyatt & Harper

Date: October 11, 2016
Location: The Shark Tank in San Jose, CA

The Big Takeaway —

James Ellsworth (yes, him) defeated WWE Champion AJ Styles in a non-title match thanks to Dean Ambrose.

John Cena was not on the show. Neither was Curt Hawkins, whose debut was advertised for tonight. Also, the program between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz is continuing, and Kane disappeared or whatever.

Update: On Talking Smack, Daniel Bryan announced Ellsworth will get a World Title shot against AJ Styles next week.

Show Recap —

A video recap of No Mercy aired, focusing on Dolph Ziggler winning the IC title and AJ Styles retaining the WWE World title.

Dolph Ziggler came out as all three announcers put over his win on Sunday. He got a nice reaction from the crowd and some “You deserve it” chants. Ziggler said he was having fun now, but wasn’t sure if he would be here tonight. He suggested we press the “info” button on our remotes if we didn’t believe him (referencing the TV guide previews suggesting this would be his last night.) The crowd didn’t know what he was talking about.

Ziggler wondered if this would be his last night there, his last night taping his wrists, or his last night spray tanning Zack Ryder’s back. Ziggler doubted himself, but knew he belonged as soon as he stepped in the ring, and beat Miz despite Maryse and the Spirit Squad.

That brought out Miz and Maryse, both wearing all black and shades. They hung their heads in mourning and Miz announced the death of the IC title. Miz claimed he was the one to bring prestige back to the title, not Daniel Bryan or Ziggler. Miz said this wasn’t the end of the story, this is only act two. Miz is the hero who has to overcome the odds, and the hero gets the gold and the girl in the end.

Ziggler showed a replay of Miz’s reaction after he lost and mocked him for crying. Miz tried to defend himself but the crowd chanted, “You were crying.” Miz was pissed and said he would do anything to get the title back. The Spirit Squad came out and Mikey and Kenny announced a handicap match against Ziggler. As I wondered if Bryan would approve this, Mauro Ranallo announced that Bryan approved this.

2-on-1 Handicap Match: IC Champion Dolph Ziggler defeated The Spirit Squad

Mikey and Kenny got the heat for a long time, but Ziggler won after about 7 minutes with a superkick on Kenny. Ranallo yelled, “Oh my God, he killed Kenny!” Miz attacked Ziggler after the match. They were about to triple team him, but Rhyno and Heath Slater ran out to make the save.

The announcers said Becky Lynch would be back soon and showed her hospital bed tweet. Ranallo emphasized that it was not a wrestling injury, and they announced Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss for the title on November 8th in Glasgow, Scotland.

Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were backstage with an announcement for Survivor Series in Toronto. They issued a challenge to Raw for a 5-on-5 elimination match, pitting the 5 best singles wrestlers on each brand against each other. They also issued separate challenges to Raw for a tag team elimination match and a women’s elimination match.

They showed Renee Young interviewing Nikki Bella earlier today. She plugged Total Bellas, said she’s been doing great “ever since” beating Carmella (two days ago) and has been living fearlessly. Carmella attacked her and launched her into a thing.

Naomi defeated Carmella

Carmella attacked Naomi before the match. They started during commercial and Carmella gained control. Nikki stormed down the ramp but some referees held her back. This distracted Carmella, so Naomi rolled her up for the win. The announcers put over Naomi as a title contender after her last two wins.

Backstage, Andrea (traded for Charly Caruso, I guess) asked Alexa Bliss about Naomi’s recent run. Bliss said she wasn’t prepared for a rave and Naomi’s entrance gave her motion sickness. Bliss said she could beat Naomi any day of the week. Bryan showed up and made Bliss vs. Naomi next week.

They aired a Hispanic Heritage video for… Eva Longoria.

Jimmy Uso (w/Jey Uso) defeated Chad Gable (w/Jason Jordan)

JBL and Otunga asked Ranallo how he can tell the Usos apart. He said because they’re fraternal twins, not identical twins. Jimmy Uso won quickly with a school boy, as Jey used his legs to give him leverage on the cover (out of the sight of the referee).

Backstage, Mojo Rawley talked to Zack Ryder about… something. I think Rawley was upset with Ryder for not partying with him. The Ascension showed up to confront them, but said nothing. Rawley wondered how long they were standing there because he just finished getting dressed. Ascension left.

A commercial aired for Goldberg on Raw this Monday.

AJ Styles’ Victory Speech

Styles boasted about beating Dean Ambrose and John Cena at the same time. He told the crowd to cheer for him and then called them losers. He said there was only room for one on this bandwagon. Styles said they could cheer for Cena, but he was off trying to be Kelly Ripa’s co-host. He said they could cheer for Ambrose, and when they did, he seemed surprised that they could actually like someone like him.

Styles reiterated that he beat both men at the same time. He suggested most champions would take a year off after a victory like that, or at least one night. Styles wanted to give one man a championship opportunity and called out his opponent.

Dean Ambrose came out instead. Ambrose said, “I know you weren’t talking about me” and Styles responded, “No, I wasn’t talking about you.” Ambrose said he had Styles beat on SmackDown and had him tapping out at No Mercy. Ambrose told Styles, “you don’t want none” and said nobody on the roster was jumping in line ahead of him.

Styles said his opponent wasn’t on the roster, which brought out James Ellsworth. The crowd cheered. Styles offered him a non-title match and told Ambrose to leave. Ambrose said he actually wanted to see this and put over “Ellsworth 3:16.” Ambrose was going to pull up a chair to watch but Styles wanted him gone.

Daniel Bryan came out and said he makes the matches. He’s a huge fan of Ellsworth and made the match official. He also made Ambrose the guest referee. Bryan said Styles can’t put his hands on Ambrose or he’ll be fined/suspended. Ambrose emptied his pockets and gave the contents to Styles to hold as he took his time putting on his referee shirt.

Non-Title: James Ellsworth defeated WWE World Champion AJ Styles (Special Referee: Dean Ambrose)

Styles punched Ellsworth, then he and Ambrose got into an argument about whether or not closed fists are illegal. That led to a punch from Ellsworth. Styles chased after him, but Ambrose stuck out his leg and Styles tripped over it. He got in Ambrose’s face leading to a school boy by Ellsworth. Ambrose tried a fast count but Styles kicked out and clotheslined Ellsworth.

Styles applied the Calf Crusher and Ellsworth tapped (eventually), but Ambrose was checking his phone so the match continued. Styles beat down on Ellsworth some more but Ambrose got distracted by a lady in the front row who wanted a selfie.

Styles hit the Styles Clash, and Ellsworth kind of tucked his head. Fortunately, he wasn’t instantly killed. Ambrose counted two, but got up and gave Styles a Dirty Deeds. After some deep contemplation, Ambrose tossed Ellsworth over Styles for a cover, but Styles actually kicked out. After taking a sip of somebody’s soda, Ambrose gave Styles another Dirty Deeds, tossed Ellsworth on him again, and did a quick 3 count. Ellsworth pinned AJ Styles.

Randy Orton caught up to Kane backstage and opened up to the big red monster. He was tired of living in Bray Wyatt’s world. Orton’s world was filled with pain and misery and voices telling him to stop, but he doesn’t listen. He asked Kane to come along for the ride. Kane said yes, and added, “Randy, you got issues.” Ok, that was funny.

Backstage, Styles yelled at Bryan and threatened to smack him, but Shane McMahon intervened. Shane said Styles is the one who wanted the match and he should be angry at himself. Shane said it was official, Styles lost to Ellsworth. Styles was pissed, but calmly said he would take matters into his own hands. After Styles left, Bryan said he had an idea for Ellsworth next week.

James Ellsworth and Nikki Bella were announced for Talking Smack tonight.

Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper defeated Randy Orton & Kane

Before the match, Harper said this world put him to sleep, but now he’s awake and sees the light. Bray said the light is brighter than ever. He said some other things too as the crowd chanted “What?”

It took about 10 minutes to get through entrances, the Wyatt promo and a commercial break. Once the match started, they went to commercial again after about a minute.

Harper has the same attire before. They worked over Kane until he made the hot tag to Orton, who hit Bray with a powerslam and Thesz press. Orton tossed Harper over the announce table and Bray into the barricade and steel steps. Orton followed with the draping DDT.

The referee got in Kane’s face for attacking Harper, which distracted Orton. This was awkwardly done. Anyway, Orton dodged a senton and crawled to Kane on the apron. The lights went out, and when they came back on, Kane was gone from the corner and Harper was in his place. This allowed Bray to hit Sister Abigail for the win.

“Where’s Kane?” asked the announcers.

Final Thoughts —

This was an enjoyable show until the main event, which was bad and had a dumb ending. I liked the stuff with Styles/Ambrose/Ellsworth, although I wouldn’t have pinned Styles, no matter how ridiculous they made it seem. We’ll see where they go.

WWE Santiago, Chile, live results: The return of Luke Harper

Submitted by F. Javier Díaz Fischer from the Movistar Arena

– WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day d. Cesaro & Sheamus and The Club

New Day and Cesaro were over like crazy, especially the latter. The Club had no credibility whatsoever with the crowd.

– Braun Strowman d. Sin Cara

This match lasted a minute. Strowman won with a powerbomb. Surprisingly, a lot of people wanted to see Sin Cara.

– Neville & Darren Young d. Titus O’Neil & Bo Dallas

– WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks d. Charlotte

Very good match. This wasn’t like Monday’s Raw, but a very good performance by both wrestlers. Unfortunately, a lot of people expected a Wrestlemania-esque affair. Both of them were over like crazy as babyfaces at the beginning but Charlotte managed to get heel heat. Sasha won with the Bank Statement, clean in the middle.

– Seth Rollins & Sami Zayn d. WWE Universal Kevin Owens & Luke Harper

The Wyatt Family member made his return to the ring tonight. Pretty nice surprise which the hardcores loved. All four members were pretty over with Rollins, Owens and Zayn being really, really over. Rollins worked total babyface and the crowd loved him. They were into everything he did.

– Bayley & Alicia Fox d. Dana Brooke & Nia Jax

People absolutely hated Dana Brooke and Bayley was not over as I expected even by the hardcore fans. Considering NXT has little to no exposure here, that shouldn’t be a surprise.

– Enzo, Big Cass & Golden Truth d. The Shining Stars, Curtis Axel & Jinder Mahal

Colin Cassady and Enzo Amore’s entrance was the only thing that generated a reaction. Surprisingly, Enzo won the match. A lot of people didn’t even recognize The Shining Stars at first. Goldust received a lot of respect from the crowd considering all of his years as a performer. A couple of “Cody Rhodes” chants here.

– WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns d. Rusev (with Lana)

RR had a mixed reaction at the beginning, but ended receiving pops and cheers during the match. He was very over and the kids and women loved him. Not a long match, it was short and sweet. As a valet, Lana is amazing and had every guy mesmerized.

**********

Seth Rollins, Sasha Banks, Roman Reigns were the stars of the show and received the biggest pops of the night. Even though guys like Cesaro or The New Day were very over, those three and Charlotte had an aura of being real huge stars. Kevin Owens was over with the hardcore fans but the rest of the audience did not react to him as they do in the United States. Considering the language barrier here, I’d say it was hard for him to get heat.

Overall, this was a pretty good show. The people arrived happy and waited for the show with a smile in their faces, enjoyed the matches and left with a positive attitude as the biggest babyfaces all won decisively.

The production has seen quite the improvement for this house shows since the last time they were here.

The only negative was a lot of people were disappointed that the announced main event of Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins was moved for tomorrow’s show apparently.

Luke Harper, Paige, other notable names backstage at Raw

Tonight’s Raw from Memphis, TN, is the go-home show for Clash of Champions. Cesaro vs. Sheamus in match number six of their best-of-seven series will be on the show along with Seth Rollins vs. Rusev, as well as the debut of the cruiserweight division which will likely set up something for Sunday’s PPV.

Among those backstage include Luke Harper, Emma, Paige, TJ Perkins, Brian Kendrick, Jack Gallagher (who was in Toronto over the weekend) and Rich Swann. Emma worked the Raw weekend house shows as a referee. Harper is just about ready to return if not ready right now.

Raw looks to rebound off its lowest non-holiday number since 1996 last week going against football. Tonight’s game is the Chicago Bears vs. Philadelphia Eagles, which are two of the top five markets in the country. Next week would be the one that Raw will really take it on the chin against football and the first presidential debate unless they do a hot angle coming off Clash of Champions.

Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper talk to Chad Dukes at Smackdown

Last week on CBS Radio from Washington DC, Chad Dukes interviewed Dean Ambrose and Luke Wyatt before the Smackdown tapings for the Chad Dukes Wrestling Show. The show airs live at 7pm on Wednesdays on 106.7 The Fan Washington DC and the full show is also available as a podcast on iTunes, Play.it, and chaddukeswrestlingshow.com

Luke Harper on his career ambitions and the opinion that the Wyatt Family “doesn’t need championships”:

I want to win every title that this promotion has. I want to be the World Heavyweight Champion, on my own, I want to be the Intercontinental Champion, want to be the U.S. champion, wanna be a Tag Champion, I personally want all of that for myself. But at the same time, I have brothers at arms that we are very successful together and I understand that part of it too.

I don’t know why I would be here if I didn’t want a championship. We’ve dominated lots of people, we’ve beat up lots of people, we’ve sent a lot of messages, we’ve been successful, but there’s another level of success that we have yet to attain and that we want to attain.

Dean Ambrose on his current role in WWE:

Lenny Harris was a utility player for the [Cincinnati] Reds, he’s on my favorite players because he literally played every position on every night he played a different position. First base, short stop, whatever, but he was a beloved guy because he was always there and could do anything.  I think I’m one of the only guys here, I mean we have so much great talent here, but I can do anything.  I can literally do anything. That’s not me being like, “oh I’m so great,” I’m just like. I know what I’m doing.  I’m not some schmuck they just hired and threw down in the Performance Center and gave him an entrance or anything that like.  I’ve been around enough and have enough experience, I know what I’m doing pretty much.  I like to think I’m a good mechanic for the company. “Oh well, we sprung a leak? Call Ambrose, throw him in there.” I like that because I think it has really upped my value with the company and I think that they realize nowadays too another Dean Ambrose isn’t going to walk through the door anytime soon or ever. So. I kind of exist in my own little space, I kind of got my own little corner of the room carved out for myself which I like.

Dean Ambrose on comparisons to Roddy Piper and his favorite Piper moment:

I don’t know how you can not take it as a compliment. I was able to have a lot of good conversations, spend a good amount of time with him through the last couple years which was, that’s a rare opportunity and I don’t think a lot of guys got that.  Me and him really just kind of clicked because he just kind of sensed that we had a similar outlook on stuff.  The thing I like about him, I’ve been asked about him since he passed away a few times, the thing I always say is my favorite Roddy Piper moment was one of the nights he was wrestling Hogan it was in WCW. He’s wrestling Hogan and he’s the big hero finally going to go up against the NWO or whatever and just the entrance makes you go, “Man, that’s what wrestling, that’s where you captivate people.”  ‘Cause they just went out there and back raked each other for fifteen minutes, they’re both like fifty five by that point, but the entrance he just walks down, Roddy Piper music, and he just walks to the ring, down the ramp, with like this death stare at the ring, like this thousand yard, like he’s in a different mental place. He’s doing nothing but doing everything. The way he walks the ring, you know that Roddy Piper is ready to die in the ring fighting the NWO that night, he does not care, he will fight to the death. This is the end of the world fight.  It’s so hard to capture that anymore because it’s such a fun, entertainment thing nowadays. We have so many shows and so much content.  When is there an end of the world fight to the death anymore?
