Vince Russo says Juggalo Championship Wrestling has ‘comedy gold’

Vince Russo says the comedy in WWE is corny, but that they have “comedy gold” in JCW, Juggalo Championship Wrestling.

Ahead of a new episode of JCW Lunacy set to air on YouTube on Thursday, Russo spoke to Justin Barrasso of The Undisputed about the comedy writing in his company versus what is seen in either WWE or AEW.

“We have comedy gold in JCW,” said Russo. “I go all the way back–my favorite sitcom to this day is The Honeymooners, but I can go back to the Odd Couple and Taxi and Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queensand Seinfeld, I love comedy. The problem you have in professional wrestling is you really don’t have legitimate writers.

“A lot of people involved [on the writing side] in AEW and a lot of people involved in WWE, they’re wrestlers. Triple H is a wrestler. [Michael] Hayes is a wrestler. And a lot of times, wrestlers don’t know how to write comedy. So what you get is corny. Comedy in wrestling has been corny for decades. Look at what they just did with the gingerbread man, that was corny. Danhausen and his clones? Corny. I love good sitcom comedy based on dialogue. You’ve got to be a trained writer to know how to write that.”

Russo’s full discussion with Justin Barrasso is available here.

Violent J says JCW wants to appeal to more than just Juggalos

Violent J says his Juggalo Championship Wrestling is “hungry for a new goal.”

During a recent appearance on The Bryan and Vinny Show, Violent J said JCW is looking to expand the reach of its promotion from appealing to Juggalos to appealing to a wider wrestling audience.

Violent J said:

“I feel like our whole company has been hungry for a new goal, a new pursuit. Because in music, we just kept accomplishing the same goal. We set a goal in the beginning and we reached it, and we reached it again and we reached it again as the years kept going by.”

“We decided to get serious about JCW and actually try to compete with these other companies and try to bring entertainment and be taken seriously, even if the show is a lot of times tongue-in-cheek, you know what I mean? We wanted to set out and really try to become something wrestling fans would enjoy and not just the fans of our music.”

While JCW programming can be over the top, Violent J says he wants the promotion’s shows to appeal to all wrestling fans and feature a variety of wrestling styles.

“I want it to appeal to all wrestling fans. I want a little bit of everything, of all types of wrestling. I want a little bit of everything in there so that, no matter who you are, what you’re into, you’re gonna see something you like, you know what I mean?

And I don’t want it to just appeal to Juggalos. JCW used to be really wild, with really offensive commentary, and we weren’t trying, though. It was just for Juggalos. It was for ICP’s fan base.”

Episodes of JCW Lunacy air Thursday nights on the Psychopathic Records YouTube channel. JCW also recently posted the full StrangleMania show from WrestleMania 42 week in Las Vegas.

Violent J says JCW will ‘prove people wrong’

Violent J says his Juggalo Championship Wrestling is here to stay.

The Insane Clown Posse member recently spoke to Justin Barasso of The Undisputed about his promotion, which has been touring for more than a quarter of a century, but recently made headlines with the hiring of Vince Russo as its booker.

Episodes of JCW Lunacy air every Thursday night on YouTube, and the promotion is building to its upcoming pay-per-view, StrangleMania: Viva Las Violence, which is set for April 17, 2026 at Horseshoe Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Violent J said:

“People always said we didn’t belong in wrestling, but what they don’t realize is we were wrestlers first. We’re wrestling fans, too. And we want a chance to entertain you.”

“We’re an indie that has been touring for 26 years, yet we’re virtually unheard of in the wrestling world. The biggest difference I saw was that those promotions marketed to wrestling fans while we were exclusively marketing to our fan base, the juggalos–which is basically another name for renegades. That was the difference. So that’s what we are doing–we are making a show for the mainstream by juggalos.”

“Wrestling feels so corporate now,” Violent J continued. “There’s advertising on the ring mats. There’s WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia. Who the fuck can go to that? The fans feel second, third, and fourth most important. There’s the Netflix series about behind the scenes. We want to make it easy to get lost in what is happening in the ring.”

Violent J also said that while Juggalo Championship Wrestling may have its doubters, that has always been the case for ICP.

“People might not believe in us,” said Violent J. “That was always the story for ICP. We’re going to prove people wrong with JCW. We’re here to stay.”

In addition to the pay-per-view in Las Vegas over WrestleMania weekend, JCW held three nights of tapings this weekend in Michigan for upcoming episodes of Lunacy. The most recent episode of the show featured a Backlot Street Fight between J-Rod and Dani Mo, along with Caleb Konley vs. Hunter Grey and The Outbreak vs. Choppa City.

Violent J’s full interview with Justin Barasso of The Undisputed is available here.
