The NWA will be crowning a new Women’s Champion at this Saturday’s Crockett Cup event.

It was announced today that Jazz has vacated the NWA World Women’s Championship and won’t be appearing at the Crockett Cup.

Jazz was supposed to defend her title against Allysin Kay (formerly known as Sienna in Impact Wrestling) at the Crockett Cup. Kay will be in the match to crown a new champion, with the NWA noting that her opponent will be announced this week.

Kay was a two-time Knockouts Champion in Impact. She was also a participant in last year’s Mae Young Classic and is a former SHINE Champion.

Jazz had been NWA Women’s Champion since September 2016.

Cabarrus Arena in Concord, North Carolina will host the Crockett Cup on Saturday. The NWA is partnering with ROH for the event, and it will air live on HonorClub, Fite TV, and pay-per-view. NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis is defending his title against Marty Scurll, while NWA National Champion Willie Mack is defending against Colt Cabana.

The Briscoes vs. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata vs. PCO & Brody King are the matches on the left side of the Crockett Cup bracket. On the right side, Flip Gordon & Bandido vs. Stuka Jr. & Guerrero Maya Jr. and Jax Dane & Crimson vs. the winners of a wild card battle royal (which will take place that night) are the tournament matches.

Title challengers announced for NWA pop-up event

All three title challengers have now been revealed for the first NWA show of 2019.

The NWA is partnering with Tried-N-True Pro Wrestling for a “pop-up event” in Clarksville, Tennessee on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Last week, it was announced that James Storm would be challenging for Nick Aldis’ NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at the show. The two other title challengers were confirmed today, with Matt Cross set to challenge for Willie Mack’s NWA National title and Allie challenging for Jazz’s NWA Women’s Championship.

Willie Mack won a tournament to become National Champion at the NWA’s 70th Anniversary Show this October. Jazz retained her title against Penelope Ford at the 70th Anniversary Show, which was where Aldis defeated Cody Rhodes to regain the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.

January’s pop-up event is taking place at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Clarksville and is being called “New Years Clash.” It will also feature the first qualifying match for 2019’s Crockett Cup Tournament.

Women’s title match official for NWA 70th Anniversary Show

After announcing that she’d be defending her title at the event, the NWA has revealed Jazz’s opponent for this month’s 70th Anniversary Show.

It will be Jazz vs. Penelope Ford for the NWA Women’s Championship in Nashville, Tennessee on October 21. Ford is an independent wrestler who notably took part in All In last month (where Cody Rhodes won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship from Nick Aldis) as part of the Joey Janela vs. Hangman Page street fight.

Ford was announced as Jazz’s opponent at the end of a video where Aldis defeated Royce Isaacs for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.

Aldis will challenge for Cody’s title in a two-out-of-three falls match in the main event of the 70th Anniversary Show, which will air live on Fite TV. There will also be an eight-wrestler tournament for the NWA National title, Tim Storm will face Peter Avalon, and Jax Dane & Crimson (w/ Road Warrior Animal) will issue an open challenge.

Jazz to defend Women’s title at NWA 70th Anniversary Show

Another title match has been announced for the NWA’s 70th Anniversary Show.

It was revealed today that former WWE Women’s Champion Jazz will be defending her NWA Women’s Championship at the October 21 anniversary event in Nashville, Tennessee. Her opponent will be announced later this week.

Jazz has held the NWA Women’s title since winning it in September 2016, and her reign is now being acknowledged in the Billy Corgan era of the brand.

Cody Rhodes vs. Nick Aldis in a two-out-of-three falls match for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship will main event the 70th Anniversary Show. There will also be a tournament to crown a new National Champion, with two four-way elimination matches deciding who will advance to a one-on-one match for the title later in the night. Colt Cabana, Scorpio Sky, Mike Parrow, Jay Bradley, and Sam Shaw have been confirmed for the tournament.
