Impact ratings rebound a bit, still second-lowest number of 2018

Last night’s episode averaged 210,000 viewers on Pop TV, up from 168,000 viewers for the previous week’s Impact. Last Thursday was the third-lowest number for a new episode of Impact since the company debuted on Pop.

Impact Wrestling posts lowest ratings of 2018

Impact Wrestling’s positive momentum coming out of Slammiversary XVI hasn’t translated to much ratings success.

Last night’s Impact averaged 248,000 total viewers on Pop TV, along with a 0.05 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s the show’s lowest audience of 2018 and down from last week’s 299,000 viewers. There was a moderate post-PPV bump for last week’s episode, with it up from the 275,000 that the Slammiversary go-home show did on July 19.

The previous low mark for Impact in 2018 was 254,000 viewers for the episode that aired on June 28.

Impact was also down in the year-over-year ratings, with the August 3, 2017 edition of the show having done 276,000 viewers.

Impact did face competition from the NFL last night. The first preseason game of the year averaged 6.67 million viewers on NBC.

Pentagon Jr. & Fenix defeated oVe in this week’s event and Austin Aries, while dressed in street clothes, defended his title against Dustin Cameron (a student of Santino Marella’s). Eddie Edwards challenging for Aries’ title will air next Thursday.

Impact Wrestling viewership down for third straight week

Impact Wrestling viewership was down for the third straight week on Thursday night.

Thursday’s Impact averaged 299,000 viewers on Pop TV, a slight decline from last week’s 308,000. Impact again went against the NBA and NHL playoffs, but the previous Thursday also had competition from the first night of the NFL draft.

The rating in the 18-49 demo was steady at 0.07.

The episode featured a lucha libre rules six-man tag match between DJ Z, Andrew Everett & Dezmond Xavier and Drago, Aerostar & El Hijo Del Fantasma, Matt Sydal successfully defending his X Division title against Taiji Ishimori, and a Su Yung vs. Rosemary main event that never got started as a brawl broke out and Rosemary was put into a casket. Next week’s show has Pentagon Jr. defending the Impact World Championship against Eli Drake.

During this same week last year, Impact averaged 260,000 viewers.

Here’s a look at Impact viewership since March 29th, which was the show’s highest number since the Hardys’ Final Deletion from July 2016:

  • March 29th — 399,000
  • April 5th — 294,000 (competition from a WWE special on the greatest moments in WrestleMania history)
  • April 12th — 381,000
  • April 19th — 373,000
  • April 26th — 308,000
  • May 3rd — 299,000

Impact Wrestling ratings drop against night one of NFL draft

Against competition from the NFL draft, ratings for Impact Wrestling were unsurprisingly down this week.

Thursday’s episode averaged 308,000 viewers on Pop TV, the lowest number since Impact faced competition from a WWE special on the greatest moments in WrestleMania history at the beginning of this month. That show aired on April 5th and did 294,000 viewers.

This week’s number was down from 373,000 viewers last Thursday and 381,000 the week before that.

Fallout from Redemption and Pentagon Jr.’s World title win was the theme of this week’s Impact. It also featured Knockouts and Tag Team title defenses, with Allie defeating Taya Valkyrie and Eli Drake & Scott Steiner beating LAX.

The episode did a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, which was also the lowest mark since April 5th.

There was year-to-year improvement, as Impact averaged 255,000 viewers when going against the NFL draft and similar sports competition from the NBA and NHL playoffs during this week last year. The total audience for the first night of this year’s draft was up 22 percent from 2017 due to Fox adding coverage of it.

Impact Wrestling ratings get back on track this week

Following a dip last Thursday, Impact Wrestling ratings were back on track for this week’s episode.

The show averaged 381,000 viewers on Pop TV and did a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up from last week’s 294,000 viewers and 0.06 rating, which had competition in the first hour from a special on the greatest moments in WrestleMania history that aired on the USA Network.

Impact followed up on Alberto El Patron being released and their show with Lucha Underground in New Orleans, with Rosemary also facing Taya Valkyrie in a Demon’s Dance match this week. Aries vs. Pentagon Jr. vs. Fenix from Impact vs. LU will air next Thursday, and that matchup is also set to be the new main event of Impact’s Redemption pay-per-view on April 22nd. Aries’ World Championship will be on the line in the PPV match.

Viewership fell short of the last episode of March, which came in at 399,000 and was Impact’s best number since The Hardys’ Final Deletion from July 2016. The rating in the demo was slightly up from last month’s high of 0.10.

Impact Wrestling ratings fall against competition from WWE

A week after posting their second-best numbers since debuting on Pop TV, Impact Wrestling viewership was down big for Thursday night’s episode.

Last night’s Impact averaged 294,000 viewers, down from the previous week’s 399,000. The reason for the drop was most likely due to competition from WWE programming. WWE’s special on the greatest moments in WrestleMania history aired on the USA Network opposite the first hour of Impact and did 746,000 viewers.

The WWE special garnered a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 demo, with Impact doing a 0.06. WWE finished 26th for the night on cable and Impact was 128th.

The last time Impact faced competition from WWE, their viewership fell to 161,000 against Tribute to the Troops last December.

This week’s Impact featured Eli Drake vs. Moose in the main event, with both their World and Tag Team title shot briefcases from Feast or Fired on the line.

Impact has a show with Lucha Underground at the Sugar Mill in New Orleans tonight as part of WrestleMania week. It streams live on Impact’s Twitch channel at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Impact Wrestling posts best ratings since Final Deletion

Impact Wrestling’s positive ratings trend continued this week as the company posted its highest viewership since The Hardys’ Final Deletion match.

Last night’s episode averaged 399,000 viewers on Pop TV, up from the 362,000 that Impact did the previous week. That’s Impact’s highest number of 2018 and tops all of their shows from last year. The Final Deletion, which had Matt Hardy facing Jeff Hardy in the first match of its kind from the Hardy Compound, drew 410,000 viewers on July 5th, 2016.

The company thanked its fans after this week’s ratings came out: “The BIGGEST THANK YOU possible to each and every one of you who helped make last night’s IMPACT the most watched episode in 20 months and our 2nd most watched episode on Pop!”

The show did a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo, up from last week’s 0.09. It finished 104th for the night on cable.

In this Thursday’s main event, Impact World Champion Austin Aries defeated Grand Champion Matt Sydal in a title vs. title match. Aries won the Grand Championship after Sydal had given it to his spiritual advisor, Josh Mathews. The episode also included a match between Bobby Lashley and Brian Cage.

Impact will continue building to its Redemption pay-per-view over the next few weeks. The PPV will take place on April 22nd, with Aries defending his World title against Alberto El Patron in the main event.

Impact’s positive ratings trend continues for Feast or Fired reveal

Ratings for Impact Wrestling continued to stay relatively strong for this week’s episode.

The show averaged 362,000 viewers, up from 350,000 the previous week. Every Impact in March has done at least 300,000 viewers, as have nine of the 12 episodes in 2018. The ratings pattern has, in general, been positive since the NFL season ended and after averaging only 161,000 viewers against WWE’s Tribute to the Troops special in December.

This week’s episode did a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demo, down slightly from the previous Thursday’s 0.10. It featured Abyss vs. Kongo Kong in a Monster’s Ball match, the Feast or Fired briefcase reveal, and EC3’s final appearance for Impact.

After being shown in the crowd at TakeOver: Philadelphia, EC3 arrived in NXT at their TV tapings earlier this month.

The highest number for Impact since July of last year remains the 365,000 viewers for the March 1st show that had Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards and the post-match incident where Edwards was injured when a baseball bat spot went wrong. That July 13th, 2017 episode, which did 374,000 viewers, was the most-watched Impact of last year.
