Update on Cavinder Twins WWE status following NXT appearance

Haley and Hanna Cavinder appeared on NXT this week but are still not signed to a WWE talent deal.

The 22-year-old twins posted to social media on Tuesday that they were at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. They appeared on NXT later that night when they came out to help Thea Hail celebrate winning the #1 Contenders battle royal.

Our own Dave Meltzer addressed the Cavinder Twins’ status with WWE on Wednesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio. He noted Haley & Hanna are still only under NIL deals with the company.

Meltzer said:

They were there. They have not signed a talent contract yet, I checked that today. They still have their NIL contract. [WWE] is real, real high on them but they haven’t even started training yet. So, who’s to say?

They may end up being great. They are better actual athletes than almost all the women there, so they do have that going for them. And they are bigger stars in the real world than every single woman there, so they have that going for them.

Them being on TV tells you that they must be pretty serious and they did give up their final year of college basketball for this, or theoretically for this

I’m sure the company wants them to be the next Ronda Rouseys. They are not as famous as Ronda Rousey was coming in but they probably have more fame coming in than anybody else. They are more famous than Lash Legend was when she came in.

PEOPLE is reporting that there were 7 other NIL athletes who attended the WWE Performance Center this week. WWE is planning to hold a tryout specifically for athletes signed to its NIL program later this summer.

The twins played basketball with Fresno State from 2019 until transferring to the University of Miami in 2022. Following the 2022-23 season, Haley and Hanna announced they were forgoing their final year of NCAA eligibility. They have 4.5 million TikTok followers, and 249,000 on Instagram

Haley & Hanna Cavinder make background appearance on WWE NXT

WWE NIL athletes Haley and Hanna Cavinder made a background appearance towards the end of Tuesday’s NXT.

After Thea Hail won the women’s number one contender’s battle royal on Tuesday’s show, a large Chase U contingent entered the ring to celebrate. The twins were seen holding up Hail on their shoulders as she celebrated her win.

Earlier in the day, the twins had shared photos of themselves at the Performance Center, teasing an appearance on Tuesday’s show.

“you may see your new fav tag team in the ring tonight,” Hanna said on Twitter.

Back in April, Hanna and Haley’s agent Jeff Hoffman told TheStreet that they would begin training at the WWE Performance Center in the spring. Originally basketball standouts at the University of Miami, the twins informed the college earlier this year they would not be returning to the team despite being eligible for one more year,

Derrian Gobourne, another NIL athlete who is a Auburn University gymnast, is also headed to the Performance Center.
