WWE announces Clash in Paris PLE

WWE will bring a premium live event to Paris, France, for the first time ever this summer with the aptly-named Clash in Paris.

The event is set for the Paris La Defense Arena on Sunday, August 31st. The venue is touted as the largest indoor arena in Europe with a listed capacity of 40,000.

The PLE won’t be the only event held there as the fallout edition of WWE Raw on Monday, September 1st will also emanate from the same venue.

The event follows last year’s successful Backlash PLE from Lyon, France, in May that drew 11,682. WWE head Nick Khan said two weeks ago during a Las Vegas appearance that another PLE would be coming to France this year.

Pre-sale registration is open now with the official on-sale date yet to be announced.

Last December, TKO’s Mark Shapiro said to expect more international PLEs this year coming after a 2024 in which eight out of 12 were hosted outside of the United States (two each in Saudi Arabia and Canada and one each in Australia, France, Scotland and Germany).

To this point, WWE has announced five PLEs for this year with one thus far outside the United States: March’s Elimination Chamber in Canada and the newly-announced Paris show.

– Big Cass (w/Enzo) beat Rusev (w/Lana) with the Big Boot

Lana came out shortly before the finish

– Golden Truth, Neville and Darren Young beat Shining Stars, Bo Dallas and Titus O’Neil with Neville’s Shooting Star Press

– Braun Stroman beat Big Show in a bodyslam challenge. Show delivered a Chokeslam and his KO punch after the match.

– Sami Zayn beat Chris Jericho with the Blue Thunder Bomb

Good match, too short unfortunately. Lots of comedy spots with Jericho’s list and scarf. Many Y2J chants. Both guys were received well.

– Bayley, Sasha Banks and Alicia Fox beat Dana Brooke, WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte and Nia Jax via Banks Statement on Charlotte.

Okay match with good heat. Crowd loved Bayley most, but Sasha 2qw also very popular. Charlotte was good at playing the crowd.

– WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi/Xavier w/Big E ringside) beat Cesaro and Sheamus with a roll-up on Sheamus after miscommunication with Cesaro.

– WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens beat Seth Rollins in a street fight via kendo stick lowblow and roll-up. There were two table spots: during the match, Rollins received one, and after the match, Owens got hit with a post-to-post Powerbomb from Rollins.
