Paul Walter Hauser mentions Kota Ibushi, Matt Cardona in Emmys speech

DDP, Matt Cardona, and Kota Ibushi all got name drops at the Emmys.

Actor Paul Walter Hauser won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor – Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at Monday’s ceremony for his role in Black Bird. During his acceptance speech, Hauser did a rap and claimed he was “about to beat Matt Cardona”, as the two will face one another at a Pro Wrestling Revolver event on March 16. Hauser also mentioned the Wolfpac, Kota Ibushi, and “getting the tables” during his speech. In a text box, DDP was also thanked.

Hauser, who also won a Golden Globe for his role in Black Bird, appeared on AEW Rampage in January of last year where he was attacked by Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt. In the weeks following the attack, Jarrett and Lethal carried what was supposedly Hauser’s Golden Globe award to the ring during matches.

Back in November, Hauser made his in-ring debut at a Wrestling Revolver event in Los Angeles, where he defeated Matthew Palmer.

GLOW nominated for ten Emmy awards; WWE shut out

While WWE’s attempt to score an Emmy didn’t pan out like they hoped, GLOW walked away with several big nominations.

The first season of GLOW on Netflix has been nominated for ten Emmy awards, the biggest being Outstanding Comedy Series. Betty Gilpin, who plays Debbie “Liberty Belle” Eagan, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy series. Director Jesse Peretz was also nominated for the direction of the pilot episode.

WWE had attempted to get some of their television nominated for Emmy awards, even going as far as holding a “For Your Consideration” event in Los Angeles last month. Some content did appear on the preliminary ballot, with Raw and Mixed Match Challenge appearing for Best Structured Reality Program, Total Bellas and Total Divas for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, WrestleMania 34 for Outstanding Variety Special and the WWE 24: Empowered and Andre the Giant documentaries for Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special. In the end, none of them made the final cut.

The Emmy awards will air live September 17 on NBC.
