Elton John song returning as AEW Collision opening theme for 2025

AEW Collision will kick off 2025 with a familiar theme.

Tony Khan announced on Wednesday that Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” will once again be the show’s intro song, as it had been from the first episode in June 2023 until July 2024.

“Starting this Sat 1/4 Collision simulcasts Saturdays on @TNTdrama + @StreamOnMax! Our Christmas #AEWCollision episode was our most viewers in a year and a half! Elton John Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting is back for 2025!

Following the July 20, 2024, the show used “Red Light Is On (Let’s Go)” by Omega Sparx and Mikey Ruckus. After the change was made, Ruckus posted to social media, saying that “there is no upgrade from Elton.”

Ruckus wrote:

“Hey guys. Its ok. I knew it would be universally hated. Theres no such thing as an upgrade from Elton. Change is inevitable. We tried something different with the college/gogo cadence. I knew many wouldn’t get it. Again, it’s ok. I’m happy with it, my team is happy with it. It’s not changing.”

“Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” was the first single off Elton John’s 1973 album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. It spent 12 weeks atop the US Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum, selling over 1,000,000 copies in the United States alone.

AEW music head: I knew Collision theme song change from Elton John would be ‘universally hated’

Fans tuning into AEW Collision Saturday were greeted to a new theme song that was much different than the “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” classic by Elton John — a change the head of AEW music said he knew would be “universally hated.”

It’s unknown what the reason was for the change, but regardless Mikey Rukus — the man who helped make “Red Light Is On (Let’s Go)” — posted on X that he assumed there would be pushback from it.

“Hey guys. Its ok. I knew it would be universally hated. There’s no such thing as an upgrade from Elton. Change is inevitable. We tried something different with the college/gogo cadence. I knew many would t get it. Again, it’s ok. I’m happy with it, my team is happy with it. It’s not changing,” he posted.

Rukus also said on X that the song was actually finished on Saturday and that it should be up on Spotify within a week or so.

AEW announced the opening theme song for Collision and has released the open for the show, seen above.

Tony Khan announced on Twitter Friday that ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting’ by Elton John will be the theme song for the show, which will debut Saturday night on TNT. Later on, they released the open.

“It’s official!,” Khan wrote on Twitter. Our opening theme for Saturday Night #AEWCollision on TNT is Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting by Sir Elton John! While @FulhamFC and @WatfordFC will never be best mates on the pitch, you’re now a great friend to @AEW, @eltonofficial, and we salute you, Sir!”
