CJ Perry is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery for an infection she’s been battling.
In a post to his Instagram stories overnight, Miro shared that his wife Perry was out of surgery. Perry underwent surgery on Monday night after having spent more than 50 hours in the hospital.
“I have been in the ER and hospital for over 50 hours,” Perry wrote on Monday. “The infection has gotten worse and I’m going into surgery tonight. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I love you all”
Perry announced on Saturday that she had been hospitalized for an infection that started in her little finger and spread up her arm. The infection caused Perry to miss CMLL’s Arena Mexico event on Friday and AEW Collision on Saturday. Perry was supposed to make her CMLL debut at Friday’s event, accompanying Andrade El Idolo for his first CMLL match since 2015.
Perry apologized for having to miss the shows and stated that she looks forward to still debuting in CMLL with Andrade.
Perry is Andrade’s manager in AEW. A feud between Andrade and Miro has been building since Andrade became Perry’s first managerial client.
Perry wrote on X Monday that she has been in the ER and hospital for ‘over 50 hours’ due to an infection in her finger that has since spread. She wrote that she will undergo surgery Monday evening.

Perry was originally set to manage Andrade El Idolo in his CMLL return in Arena Mexico on Friday. However, she pulled out of that date and also Saturday’s AEW Collision due to the infection.
“Please keep me in your prayers I’m at the ER @vphcares,” she wrote on Saturday. “The infection from my small finger has gone up my arm. I am so sorry I had to miss last night and @AEW tonight. I look forward to debuting in Mexico with @AndradeElIdolo. Good luck @ToBeMiro and my client @AndradeElIdolo on #AEWCollision & #AEWContinentalClassic
Perry has been involved in an AEW storyline in which she has chosen to manage Andrade El Idolo despite her husband Miro’s disapproval.

Perry is currently managing Andrade El Idolo, who made his in-ring return to CMLL on Friday night. He traveled to Garland, Texas on Saturday’s Collision to compete in the Continental Classic match against Claudio Castagnoli, where he lost. In storyline, Miro has not been happy about Perry returning to television to manage other people, saying on this week’s Collision that he couldn’t wait until Idolo was eliminated so he could go after him.
Andrade El Idolo will have CJ Perry by his side when he makes his return to Arena Mexico on Friday night.
On Thursday, CMLL posted a video announcing that Perry will be accompanying Andrade for tonight’s Arena Mexico event. It will be Perry’s CMLL debut. For Andrade, it’s his first time competing for CMLL since 2015.
“This Friday, it’s going to be my first time ever at Arena Mexico,” Perry said in a promo. “Debuting at CMLL with my client coming back after eight years.”
Andrade is teaming with Soberano Jr. & Angel de Oro against Mistico, Atlantis Jr. & Star Jr. in a trios match tonight.
Formerly known as La Sombra, Andrade became a star for CMLL early in his career before departing the company to sign with WWE in 2015. He’s been with AEW since 2021.
Perry appeared after her husband Miro defeated Powerhouse Hobbs on Sunday night. When Hobbs attacked Miro after the match, Perry made her entrance and struck Hobbs with a steel chair. Perry and Hobbs then went face-to-face. As that happened, Miro picked up the chair and laid out Hobbs with it.
Miro looked confused about his wife being there and left the ring without her. As Miro left, he yelled that Perry wasn’t real.
Tony Khan addressed Perry’s contract status during the post-show press conference on Sunday night. Khan said it’s not a “long-term guaranteed thing,” but it was great having Perry at All Out:
I think it’s great to have CJ here. It’s not a long-term guaranteed thing or anything, but at least for tonight, it was great to have her appearing with us. And I thought it was a great surprise, it was a great show. Miro and Hobbs was a match I really believed would be great for All Out, and it’s important to have great matches on both shows [All In and All Out].
On social media, AEW uploaded a backstage interview with Perry following her appearance. Perry said she was just there to help Miro and didn’t know what was going on between them.
Our own, @lexynair, catches up with @TheCJPerry after the strange interaction between Perry & her husband, @ToBeMiro after his match at #AEWAllOut. What's next for Miro & Perry?
CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana in WWE, made her AEW debut at Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view.
Perry’s debut came in a post-match angle following her husband Miro’s match against Powerhouse Hobbs. After Miro defeated Hobbs, the two shook hands, then Hobbs used a blindside attack on Miro.
Perry then entered with “Hot & Flexible” on the video wall behind her and made her way to the ring. Perry hit Hobbs with a chair, which Hobbs did not sell. Hobbs confronted Perry, then Miro hit Hobbs with the chair and Hobbs left the ring.
Perry was never referred to by name on the pay-per-view broadcast by the commentators.
Miro and Perry stared at one another, then Miro walked off muttering “you’re not real”, leaving Perry standing in the ring.
Lexy Nair conducted a follow-up interview with Perry for AEW’s social media channels where she asked about the interaction with Miro.

Perry was with WWE from 2013 to 2021 under the Lana name, primarily as a manager for Miro (then Rusev) in NXT and on the WWE main roster.
Following Rusev’s WWE release in April 2020, Lana was often a challenger in the company’s women’s tag team division with various partners until her June 2021 release from the company.
AEW’s Miro hasn’t wrestled since All Out 2022 and his spouse, CJ Perry, recently implied the couple could wind up back in WWE someday.
Our own Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Miro was presented with and rejected creative plans that would have built to a match at Full Gear.
“In September, they came to him, Tony Khan came to Miro and he had this idea which would build to a match on the November 19 pay-per-view and [Miro] didn’t want to do it,” Meltzer said.
Meltzer continued to talk about former WWE wrestlers in AEW who are hesitant to do jobs.
“It’s weird, a lot of people who come from WWE are very leery, obviously, Bryan Danielson being the exception, about doing jobs,” Meltzer continued. “Then it becomes very difficult to book when you don’t really want to do programs where you are going to lose.”
CJ Perry recently commented on Miro’s absence from AEW programming as well. She noted during an interview with Mike Wennmacher from 92.7 WMAY that “everyone always returns back to WWE.”
“Rusev Day will never die. It’s always going to be around, the kids are going to want to sing it and I’m sure it will make a return in WWE at some point. Rusev — well, whatever he shows [up] back in; whatever frickin name or gimmick or character he returns [as] at some point, in WWE is going to be iconic. You know, he, that’s the great thing about wrestling is it doesn’t matter what company you work for, what promotion, anything can happen. Let’s be honest, we know that everyone always returns back to WWE at some point,” Perry said(Transcriptions courtesy of Fightful).
Meltzer would continue to say now that Full Gear is over, the plan was to go back to Miro with more ideas but it is not clear if Perry’s comments will hinder that from happening.
Meltzer said:
“Now November’s over and now we’re in the new cycle and they were going to bring him back and try to come up with ideas for him and they very well may. Then his wife comes in and says, ‘well you know, Rusev Day is going to come back, and everybody goes back to WWE.'”
“When people go like, ‘he’s not using this guy,’ it’s like, there’s reasons. If you’re going to play ball, that’s fine, and if you really don’t want to, if you’re just biding your time to go somewhere else then it should be different. That’s the basic situation.”
“If you are in AEW and you want to be gone, I think the one thing you should do is don’t go public and say it, or don’t have your family members go public and say it because then if I’m the promoter, I’ve got other guys I can push. So, I would say keep quiet if that’s your goal because saying it will probably just hurt the amount of TV time you get and rightfully so.”
CJ Perry (FKA Lana) has opened up about Miro’s run in AEW.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio on Tuesday, Perry was asked how her husband is enjoying his time in AEW.
“I mean, he wants to be champion so he’s not going to be happy until he’s champion,” she responded. “I’m just going to leave it at that.”
Perry was then asked why she thinks AEW does not use Miro regularly on its programming.
“I have a lot of opinions about this. Tony Khan has a vision. At the end of the day, if it’s 100% real, I think there’s this illusion at AEW that the talent book the show. That was definitely the conversation, ‘Oh you go there, you’re going to basically become whatever you’re made of’ but at the end of the day, he’s booking the show.”
“It’s really no different than WWE, it’s just a different director and a different person’s point of view. It’s like comparing NBC to HBO but at the end of the day, you still have the exec who is going to make that final call and that’s what it is. Tony Khan has his favorites and he’s going to push the favorites just like Vince [McMahon] would push his favorites, just like Hunter is going to push his people. It’s show business, it’s nothing personal, it just is what it is.”
“I think my husband is incredible. I feel Vince really valued him in that way and saw that. They hit heads a lot of times towards the end on creative differences. Vince really wanted him as a villain and Miro wanted to explore this new world.”

Monday News Update
Bryan and I will be back tonight for our first of many shows together on video. We’ll talk Raw, take questions and go over the latest news.
Raw tonight is from Charlotte, NC at the Spectrum Center. Raw is on a streak of two straight 1.8 million viewer shows against the NFL. The game tonight is Chicago Bears vs. New England Patriots. They got good luck because they could have gone against two baseball games but Houston and the New York Yankees both won their league championships yesterday and are off until they face each other in the World Series. The Series starts on Friday night (moving Smackdown to FS 1). The World Series game three goes against next week’s Raw, game four against next week’s NXT, game five against next week’s AEW if needed and game six if needed against the 11/4 Smackdown.
Raw has announced Bianca Belair vs. Bayley in a non-title match and Finn Balor vs. Karl Anderson in a match that actually means more for Japan as the two guys who were original Bullet Club members.
Jon Moxley vs. Penta was added for the title to Dynamite on Wednesday. That’s notable because it was not announced on Friday’s show, or have there been any angles in that direction. It just sounds like Tony Khan added a title match hoping to boost the ratings. Penta hasn’t been given singles wins and in the last trios title match on Wednesday, it was Fenix who got the pin, not Penta. Khan’s booking usually builds people up for title matches so this is a rarity with the title match with no build coming out of nowhere. But on paper is does strengthen the show with Bryan Danielson vs. Sammy Guevara looking strong, Chris Jericho & Daniel Garcia vs Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta seemingly building up ROH & Pure title matches, Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland vs FTR which leads to the winners facing The Acclaimed and Jamie Hayter vs. Riho, which is likely to build to Toni Storm vs. Hayter.
Bellator announced it was working with Rizin for a New Year’s Eve joint show at the Saitama Super Arena featuring the third meeting of Patricio Pitbull Freire vs. A.J. McKee for the featherweight title plus Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Juan Archuleta. There will be a press conference on Wednesday in Tokyo at the Roppongi Hills Arena to announce the card and perhaps more fights.
CJ Perry (Lana) will be part of The Surreal Lief that debuts tonight on VH-1 at 9 p.m. The cast also includes for this season Dennis Rodman, August Alsina, Frankie Muniz, Kim Coles, Manny MIJA, Stormy Daniels and Tamar Braxton.
Xavier Woods will be a contestant on Sunday’s Wheel of Fortune show on ABC.
The Liv Morgan appearance on Chucky will be on Wednesday night at 9 pm. on USA. They will likely push that on Raw tonight.
Tickets for AEW’s return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles officially go on sale Friday. There will be a presale either Wednesday or Thursday. They sold out immediately last time but I don’t think anyone expects that this time.
Tomorrow’s Vice Tales from the Territories covers Florida with Brian Blair, Steve Keirn, Bob Roop and Kevin Sullivan among those appearing.

BYB today announced Dada 5000 (Dhafir Harris), part of that infamous wreck of a fight with Kimbo Slice in 2016. years ago, to fight on its 11/19 show. Believe it not the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation shut down the fight citing Dada was still under suspension from that fight in Texas. Dada suffered two heart attacks in that fight and flatlined twice, as well as kidney failure. He, in theory, shouldn’t be able to fight in any commission state.
Taya Valkyrie vs. Trish Adora for the women’s featherweight title has been added to the 10/30 MLW show in Philadelphia.
In addition to Perry being on the show, there will be another professional wrestling connection with Basketball Hall of Famer and nWo member Dennis Rodman being part of the cast. The cast will also feature August Alsina, Stormy Daniels, Tamar Braxton, Frankie Muniz, Kim Coles, and Manny MUA.
VH1 hyped that the cast is “coming together for a wild, over the top journey that pushes them to reveal different sides of themselves in surprising ways.”
“The Surreal Life is known for bringing together some of the biggest names in pop culture and creating many unforgettable moments in reality television,” said Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer of MTV Entertainment Group. “We are excited to see how this stellar celebrity cast will make captivating television for audiences everywhere.”
Perry was released by WWE during a round of roster cuts this June. During an appearance on Talk is Jericho earlier this month, she discussed being blindsided by her release.
Pro wrestlers Chyna and Maven appeared on previous seasons of “The Surreal Life.”
CJ Perry, the former Lana in WWE, talked to Chris Jericho on his podcast about her WWE tenure, getting released, and what she hopes her future holds — as long as it has a no-cut clause.
She said she was completely blindsided by getting the call from John Laurinaitis and thought it was about an outside TV project WWE had just given approval to. She got the call when a lot of her family was at a house she and husband Miro are renting so she could train more. Her heart dropped when she got the call, but she was also relieved.
Perry said she was texting with Mandy Rose at the time so she was the first person to know, followed by Natalya who she called. Budget cuts were given as the reason and she was glad it was Laurinaitis who gave her the news as he’s more business-like than Mark Carrano would have been.
She said Vince McMahon texted her to thank her for her contributions and work ethic. Perry was very complimentary of McMahon, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Brian “Road Dogg” James and Billy Gunn for helping develop the Lana character in NXT and her WWE work. McMahon scripted her promos for her first year in WWE.
She isn’t sure what’s next as it’s only been three weeks and she has a 90-day non-compete. She doesn’t want to be done with wrestling and felt like she was improving in the ring, working out of TJ Wilson and Natalya’s ring on the side to get better. If it is wrestling, she wants a no-cut clause due to the constant state of fear of being released wrestlers have.
She said it was hard to say goodbye to the Lana character as so much of it was what she wishes she could be.
On the Survivor Series match last year where she backed into a win by not really doing anything, Perry thought it would have got over bigger had it been in front of fans. McMahon wanted the finish as he and Shane McMahon thought it was hilarious if she didn’t get in there at all because it had never been done. There was supposed to be a table spot in the match, but there was pushback from Roman Reigns because of a planned table spot in his match that night.
She talked a lot about the ThunderDome era and how working in front of no fans was difficult. She turned to social media to get feedback and was overwhelmed with the negativity. She was happy to be out of the Performance Center and live in the ThunderDome because McMahon couldn’t “rethink the show and rewrite things 17 times.” She also told a story of how she was once on set for 19 hours just to do a 60-second backstage segment.
She said she was surprised by how much she gets buried on Twitter and “the dirt sheets” and feels she resonates with a live crowd much more than with the Internet. Jericho said the live audience is reflective of 90% of the overall audience while the real hardcore fans are about 10%.
In the hour-plus podcast, Perry also talked about the rise of the Rusev/Lana team and why it got split up, his release, getting put through a table for nine straight weeks, and the heat she got for her engagement picture to Rusev/Miro getting to social media even though she didn’t post it.
