NWA’s Blk Jeez recovering from gunshot suffered during attempted carjacking

NWA wrestler Blk Jeez’s planned return to the ring after a bout with blood cancer has been delayed due to an attempted carjacking & shooting on Thursday.

In a media release, the NWA stated Jeez (Darnell Kittrell) was approached by four masked men while in Philadelphia Thursday night. The men attempted to carjack Kittrell and during the events of the incident, Kittrell was shot in the hip and taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

From the release:

“Kittrell, who possesses a permit to carry a gun, used his legally registered firearm to defend himself and returned fire. The suspects fled the scene, and investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage for leads.”

Kittrell was set to return at Saturday’s NWA Paranoia event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In May 2023, his diagnosis of multiple myeloma (a form of blood cancer) was revealed in addition to a GoFundMe to assist him as he was also recovering from multiple back fractures.

He hasn’t wrestled since February 2023.

NWA’s BLK Jeez diagnosed with form of cancer, fundraiser underway

NWA wrestler BLK Jeez has been diagnosed with a form of cancer known as multiple myeloma, and a fundraiser has been established to help him with expenses.

According to the GoFundMe, Jeez (Darnell Kittrell) visited a doctor after months of what he thought was a back strain that only intensified in pain over time.

It was learned through blood work that he had multiple myeloma — a cancer that forms in plasma cells. With this form, cancerous plasma cells accumulate in bone marrow and crowd out healthy blood cells.

It’s an incurable form of cancer and additional treatments will be needed when it returns. He is also recovering from multiple back fractures that had him in a back brace and assisted walker at one point.

Money raised through the GoFundMe will help with lost wages due to him receiving treatment. In addition to wrestling, he also has a job in addition to a fiance and a four-year-old daughter.

From the GoFundMe:

“This cancer may be aggressive but Darnell is a fighter that looks at a challenge with steel in his eyes. He will fight this and we as a community need to not only cheer him on but show him that we stand with him and support him.”
