Due to an injury, Colt Cabana won’t be able to wrestle at ROH’s Best in the World pay-per-view this Friday.
The NWA uploaded a video today where Cabana announced that he won’t be able to team with Nick Aldis against The Briscoes at Best in the World. Cabana is the current NWA National Champion, while Aldis holds the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
Cabana’s replacement will be unveiled on the Best in the World pre-show, which is airing at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time on Friday.
Cabana & Aldis vs. The Briscoes had been set up for Best in the World when The Briscoes laid out both Cabana and Aldis at ROH’s television tapings in Villa Park, Illinois last month.

Kelly Klein & Jenny Rose vs. The Allure (Angelina Love & Mandy Leon w/ Velvet Sky)
Jonathan Gresham vs. Silas Young in a Pure Rules match
Two more matches have been added to the card for ROH’s Best in the World pay-per-view.
ROH has announced that Six-Man Tag Team Champions Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO & Brody King) will defend their titles against Mark Haskins, Tracy Williams & PJ Black at Best in the World. Women of Honor World Champion Kelly Klein will be in a tag match at the PPV, teaming with Jenny Rose against The Allure (Angelina Love & Mandy Leon).
Villain Enterprises have been ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions since winning the titles from The Kingdom in March. Black has recently been aligned with Haskins & Williams, with them defeating Shinobi Shadow Squad (Cheeseburger, Ryan Nova & Eli Isom) on this week’s episode of ROH television.
The Allure (Love, Leon & Velvet Sky) debuted by attacking Klein after she won the Women of Honor title from Mayu Iwatani at G1 Supercard in April. Sky will be in Love & Leon’s corner at Best in the World.
Love & Leon attacked Klein & Rose before a tag match could get started on this week’s ROH TV.
The UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland is hosting Best in the World on Friday, June 28. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:
ROH World Champion Matt Taven defending against Jeff Cobb
ROH Television Champion Shane Taylor defending against Bandido
ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO & Brody King) defending against Mark Haskins, Tracy Williams & PJ Black
The Briscoes vs. Nick Aldis & Colt Cabana
Rush vs. Flip Gordon
Dragon Lee vs. Dalton Castle
Kelly Klein & Jenny Rose vs. The Allure (Angelina Love & Mandy Leon w/ Velvet Sky)
Jonathan Gresham vs. Silas Young in a Pure Rules match
ROH wrote about the stipulation: “the emphasis is on technical wrestling, and any bending of the rules will not be tolerated by the referee.”
During their feud, Young has been mocking Gresham and technical wrestling. On this week’s episode of ROH TV, Young claimed that he’s turned over a new leaf, said the days of taking shortcuts are over, and called himself the best pure wrestler in the business. He then used an abdominal stretch to submit a wrestler he brought out who was named “The Squid.”
Young used a hammer in his last match against Gresham and then won with an abdominal stretch while Gresham was passed out. In their match before that, Young pinned Gresham after giving him a low blow.
The UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland is hosting Best in the World on Friday, June 28. Here’s the updated card for the show:
ROH World Champion Matt Taven defending against Jeff Cobb
ROH Television Champion Shane Taylor defending against Bandido
The Briscoes vs. Nick Aldis & Colt Cabana
Rush vs. Flip Gordon
Dragon Lee vs. Dalton Castle
Jonathan Gresham vs. Silas Young in a Pure Rules match
The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and NWA National Champion will be teaming up at ROH Best in the World.
NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis & NWA National Champion Colt Cabana vs. The Briscoes has been announced for Best in the World. The pay-per-view is taking place at the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, June 28.
The match was set up after Cabana’s National title defense against James Storm at last month’s ROH television tapings. The NWA uploaded video of Cabana vs. Storm and the post-match angle today, with The Briscoes laying out both Cabana and Aldis.
In storyline, The Briscoes are out for revenge against the NWA after they were disqualified for using steel chairs in their match against PCO & Brody King at the Crockett Cup.
Both teams had chairs in their hands at the end of the Crockett Cup match. Jay Briscoe went to hit King, but King moved out of the way and PCO hit Jay with a chair. The referee didn’t see it because he was trying to take Mark Briscoe’s chair from him. The ref then disqualified The Briscoes when Mark gave King a chair shot.
Here’s the updated card for Best in the World:
ROH World Champion Matt Taven defending against Jeff Cobb
ROH Television Champion Shane Taylor defending against Bandido
Dragon Lee is Rush’s brother, and his match against Castle at Best in the World plays off of Castle’s feud with Rush. Rush defeated Castle in seconds when they faced off at G1 Supercard in April.
Gordon defeated PJ Black, Castle, and Rush in a four corner survival match at this past weekend’s ROH TV tapings. The match aired live on HonorClub, with Gordon pinning Black to get the win. Castle then attacked Gordon and cut a promo on Rush. He challenged Rush to get into the ring with him, then backed off when Rush did. Castle said he’ll face Dragon Lee at Best in the World.
Rush vs. Gordon was also set up for Best in the World after that four corner survival match. Gordon told Rush that he’ll face him if Castle won’t. Gordon said he’ll kick Rush’s ass. He offered Rush a handshake, but Rush struck him instead.
As was previously announced, Matt Taven will defend the ROH World Championship against Jeff Cobb at Best in the World. Bandido will challenge for Shane Taylor’s Television title.
Jeff Cobb is getting a World title shot at ROH’s next pay-per-view.
ROH has announced that Matt Taven will defend his World Championship against Cobb at Best in the World in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, June 28. The show is taking place at the UMBC Event Center.
Cobb lost the ROH Television Championship to Shane Taylor in a four corner survival match earlier this month, with Taylor pinning Brody King to win the title. In a segment on the ROH TV episode that aired this week, Cobb cut an in-ring promo and talked about never being pinned or submitted in ROH. Cobb said he wasn’t out there to ask for his rematch against Taylor, he wanted Taven.
Taven then came out and responded to Cobb, telling him he has no problem defending the title against Cobb anytime or anywhere. Taven teased having the match right then and there, but the segment ended with Taven saying “not tonight” and throwing the microphone at Cobb.
Taven became ROH World Champion by defeating Jay Lethal and Marty Scurll in a triple threat ladder match at G1 Supercard last month.
This is the second match to be announced for Best in the World. Taylor will defend his TV title against Bandido at the PPV.
A Television title match is set for ROH’s Best in the World pay-per-view.
In this week’s Eck’s Files article on ROH’s website, it was announced that Bandido will challenge for Shane Taylor’s Television Championship at Best in the World. The PPV is taking place at the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, June 28.
Bandido defeated Taylor in the main event of this week’s episode of ROH TV, though that match was taped before Taylor became TV Champion. Taylor won the title by defeating Jeff Cobb, Hirooki Goto, and Brody King in a four corner survival match at War of the Worlds: Toronto on May 9.
The story for the finish of the four corner survival match was that Cobb lost the TV title without being pinned. Cobb gave King the Tour of the Islands, then Taylor hit a knee strike on Cobb and pinned King after hitting him with Greetings from 216.
The night after Best in the World, ROH will hold a set of TV tapings at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Ring of Honor returns to pay-per-view tonight as Best in the World 2018 takes place at the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

The show will be headlined by a triple threat match for the ROH World Championship, with Dalton Castle defending against Bullet Club members Cody Rhodes and Marty Scurll. If Cody wins the championship, he’ll be set to defend it in a title vs. title match against the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, which is currently Nick Aldis, at All In this September.
Three other title matches are also set for tonight: Tag Team Champions The Briscoes vs. The Young Bucks, Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom vs. SANADA, EVIL & BUSHI, and TV Champion Punishment Martinez vs. Hangman Page in a street fight.
Austin Aries vs. Kenny King, Jay Lethal vs. KUSHIDA, an eight-woman tag match pitting Sumie Sakai, Mayu Iwatani, Tenille Dashwood & Jenny Rose vs. Kelly Klein, Hazuki, Kagetsu & Hana Kimura, and Bully Ray vs. Flip Gordon round out the rest of the card.
Our live coverage starts at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

By Dave Meltzer
MATT TAVEN & VINNY MARSEGLIA & TK O’RYAN VS. EVIL & SANADA & BUSHI FOR THE SIX MAN TITLES
Match was fine. It never got past a certain level but it was all action. Sanada did a Paradise lock on both Taven and Marseglia. But not much else as far as big stuff went. The finish saw Taven pin Bushi after rock star super nova.
FLIP GORDON VS. BULLY RAY
The match opened hot with Gordon doing dives and brawling. This was a very different style of match then you usually see from Gordon. Bully got litlte offense in, missed a Vader bomb to get a Vader chant and then used a low blow for the DQ. After the match Bully kept beating down Gordon with a garbage can and some chair shots. Eli Isom ran in but Bully Ray beat him down. Cheeseburger ran in and Bully Ray power bombed him hard. Finally Colt Cabana, doing the announcing, hit the ring with a chair and Bully backed off. Bully is super smart at getting heat so while not a classic match, this match was exactly what it was supposed to be and effective, it made Gordon show a new dimension and put heat on Bully.
HAZUKI & KAGETSU & HANA KIMURA & KELLY KLEIN VS. JENNY ROSE & SUMIE SAKAI & MAYU IWATANI & TENILLE DASHWOOD.
This match got over in the last few minutes. I thought it wasn’t good at all except when Iwatani was in with both Hauzki and Kimura. The crowd went nuts for Iwatani vs. Kimura in particular. Sakai did a great plancha onto everone and in the ring, Iwatani pinned Kimura with a dragon suplex. They tried to push Sakai vs. Kagetsu as WOH champino vs. Stardom champion.
KENNY KING VS. AUSTIN ARIES
The story here is that Aries and King were friends and Aries mentored him. King wouldn’t go for the kill but Aries would. Aries is a great wrestler and this match had a lot of heat. At one point Aries grabbed his three belts and went to walk off but King with a corkscrew plancha on him and then grabbed the Impact belt. However, Aries came back with a brainbuster on the floor and then won with a discus elbow and a brainbuster. Best match so far.
KUSHIDA VS. JAY LETHAL
The story here is that Lethal is trying to work his way back to the title and had to beat all the guys who have beaten him like Punishmant Martinez, Chuickie T, Kushida, Mark Briscoe and Kushida who have beaten him. So he’s beaten four of them and thie time pinned Kushida with the Lethal injection. These two guys are great wrestlers. It was exactly what you’d think. Kushida did three straight flip dives. Lethal teased doing three topes, but on the second one, Kushida caught him with an armbar on the floor. Lethal did the Savage elbow but Kushida turned that into an armbar. The first time Lethal went for the lethal injection, Kushida got him with a hoverboard lock. But Lethal kept blocking back to the future. Excellent match
PUNISHMENT MARTINEZ VS. HANGMAN PAGE IN A STREET FIGHT FOR THE TV TITLE
Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser are out on commentary.. Thois was a realy wild match with a lot of high spots. Martinez won with a choke slam through a table shortly after Page gave him a back body drop on thumbtacks. Page also did a moonsault off the top to the floor At one point Martinez zip-tied his hands together butg Page got free of them. Page speared him through a table on the floor. Page also supeplexed him off the barricade on the floor. It was a big brawl and the crowd completey got behind Page.
MARK & JAY BRISCOE VS. YOUNG BUCKS FOR ROH TAG TITLES
This was very close to a match of the year level bout. They did everythimg in the world and it ended with the Briscoes doing a double team die hard and neckbreaker on Matt for the pin. They pushed that the ROH champs beat the IWGP champs clean so that probably sets up a rematch. There were far too many big spots and near falls to recount. At one point The Bcks had it won with more bang for your buck on Jay, but Mark gave ref Paul Turner an elbow off the top to take him out. Later the Bucks did the Meltzer driver but there was a save. Matt kicked out of a Jay driller on a chair. At another point they tried another Meltzer driver but Mark threw a chair at Nick which knocked him off the apron. After the match, they continued to beat on the Bucks until SCU came out with Christopher Daniels having a chair. They teased attacking the Young Bucks but instead Daniels hit Jay with a chair.
DALTON CASTLE VS. MARTY SCURLL VS. CODY FOR THE ROH TITLE
Castle retained the title as Scurll did the crossroads to Cody but Castle then gave Scurll the bangarang and pinned him. Castle is hurting really bad. I think he took maybe one or two bumps. His back is a mess, both a fracture and nerve damagee. There was all kinds of shortcuts with lots of near falls and then people pulling the ref out of hte ring. Brandi and Cody pulled ref Todd Sinclair out when Scurll had the title won with a belt shot. At another point Scurll had Scurll pinned with the bangarang but Nick Aldis, who was at ringside pulled Sinclair out of the ring. Sinclair later threw Brandi, The Boys and Aldis out. The near falls were really good and a lot looked like the finish but it was tough to follow the prior match. Aldis being there made everyone figure Cody was winning, but I guess the idea is they don’t want the ROH champion losing to the IWGP champion again.
A day after announcing that he would be wrestling on the show, Ring of Honor has confirmed Austin Aries’ opponent for Best in the World.
Aries vs. Kenny King has been added to the lineup for the June 29 pay-per-view in Baltimore, Maryland. The match stems from an angle that took place following Aries’ last appearance for ROH.
In May, King tried to help Aries in his match against then-Television Champion Silas Young. King hit Young with a belt shot when Young tried to use it as a weapon, Aries got the pin and appeared to win the title, but the decision was changed to a disqualification due to King’s interference. Aries then gave King a low blow and a brainbuster after the match.
Here’s the updated card for Best in the World:
ROH World Champion Dalton Castle defending against Cody Rhodes and Marty Scurll in a triple threat match
ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defending against The Young Bucks
ROH Television Champion Punishment Martinez defending against Hangman Page in a street fight
ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom (Matt Taven, TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia) defending against SANADA, EVIL & BUSHI
Jay Lethal vs. KUSHIDA
Austin Aries vs. Kenny King
Bully Ray vs. Flip Gordon
Sumie Sakai, Mayu Iwatani, Tenille Dashwood & Jenny Rose vs. Kelly Klein, Hazuki, Kagetsu & Hana Kimura
Aries challenged Young, who was then ROH Television Champion, in May. He appeared to win the title when King hit Young with a belt shot as Young was trying to use it as a weapon. But the storyline following the match was that the result was changed to a disqualification due to King helping Aries. Aries then low blowed King and gave him a brainbuster.
Aries currently holds the Impact Wrestling World Championship. He returned to ROH at their 16th Anniversary PPV in March and appeared at Supercard of Honor XII over WrestleMania weekend to set up the match with Young.
Young lost the TV title to Punishment Martinez last weekend, and Martinez will be defending it against Hangman Page in a street fight at Best in the World. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:
ROH World Champion Dalton Castle defending against Cody Rhodes and Marty Scurll in a triple threat match
ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defending against The Young Bucks
ROH Television Champion Punishment Martinez defending against Hangman Page in a street fight
ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Kingdom (Matt Taven, TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia) defending against SANADA, EVIL & BUSHI
Jay Lethal vs. KUSHIDA
Bully Ray vs. Flip Gordon
Sumie Sakai, Mayu Iwatani, Tenille Dashwood & Jenny Rose vs. Kelly Klein, Hazuki, Kagetsu & Hana Kimura
Cody Rhodes gets another shot at the Ring of Honor World Championship as Best in the World takes place at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts tonight.
We’re looking for your thoughts on tonight’s show so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to [email protected]
Cody will challenge Christopher Daniels for the title in the main event. Those two were also involved in the main event of ROH’s last pay-per-view, with Daniels retaining in a triple threat match after hitting the Best Moonsault Ever on Cody while he had Jay Lethal locked in the figure four.
The Young Bucks will be in action as they defend their ROH tag titles against War Machine, KUSHIDA will defend his TV title against Marty Scurll, and the Six-Man belts will be up for grabs as Dalton Castle & The Boys challenge The Briscoes & Bully Ray.
Also on the show, Hangman Page will face Frankie Kazarian in a strap match, Lethal will take on Silas Young, The Kingdom teams against CMLL’s Ultimo Guerrero & El Terrible, and The Rebellion face off with Search and Destroy in a match where the losing team must disband.
Our live coverage starts at 9 p.m. ET.
**********
MATT TAVEN & VINNY MARSEGLIA VS. ULTIMO GUERRERO & EL TERRIBLE
Guerrero pinned Marseglia with a schoolboy. There were a lot of dives but the match didn’t really click. The match was under Lucha rules. Guerrero works better with flyers. He did seem to get ove with the crowd. The crowd seemed to like it okay.
FRANKIE KAZARIAN VS. HANGMAN PAGE IN A STRAP MATCH
This was different. It was actually a country whipping match as opposed to a strap match. Both guys whipped each other with belts and also did some wrestling with near falls. Page introduced a belt with ails on it and both whipped the other with it so both had sliced up backs. It was kind of sick. Page took a suplex on steps and was also used a strap to throw him off the apron to the floor. The finish saw Kazarian choking Page over the ropes with a belt and Page tapped out.
KENNY KING & RHETT TITUS & CAPRICE COLEMAN & SHANE TAYLOR VS. JONATHAN GRESHAM & JAY WHITE & CHRIS SABIN & ALEX SHELLEY LOSING SQUAD HAS TO BREAK UP
Tons of moveds. It wasn’t that crisp in a lot of the way but White, Sabin and Shelley all looked good, particularly late. It ended up as a four way submmission with Gresham using the Octopus on Titus, White used a crossface on King, Sabin used a cloverleaf on Coleman and Shelley had a submission on Taylor.
After the match, Punishment Martinez came out and cleaned house on the babyfaces throwing them out of the ring and once again choke slamming White to keep their program going.
JAY LETHAL VS. SILAS YOUNG
Good long match. Best so far. Lethal took out Beer City Bruiser early with chair shots. Good back and forth match. Lots of near falls. Young shoved down ref Todd Sinclair and Young went for a cradle pin but the ref was slow getting there. Lethal then cradled him for the pin.
After the match Young gave Lethal misery which is the TKO, on the keg. Yong held him and Bruiser squashed Lethal into the keg three times. Then Young & Bruiser pulled out a table. Young put Lethal on the table. Bruiser went to the top rope and splashed Lehtal through the table on the floor. That spot looked great. They pushed they hurt his ribs leading into the U.S. title tournament.
BULLY RAY & BRISCOES VS. DALTON CASTLE & THE BOYS FOR THE TRIOS TITLES
They did a surprise title change here. Good match. The match was booked with the idea The Boys aren’t good enough to compete and Castle was the only one who got offense and had to carry things. The finish saw the Boys run away and Jay wanted to chase after but Bully stopped Jay to get Jay to focus on the match. While they were all distracted, Castle cradled Mark for the pin. Bully at one point called for the tables but nobody ever go them. The crowd was into Bully and Castle doing poses particularly Bully doing the peacock pose and dancing.
KUSHIDA VS. MARTY SCURLL FOR THE TV TITLE
Kushdia retained the title using the broken fingers spot, followed by back to the future off the middle rope and then another back to the future llin the ring. Excellent match. I don’t think it would be possible for these two to have anything but a great match. Scurll did great British style. Kushida worked the armbar spot and hoverboard lock spot, Scurll did the borken fingers spot and the chicken wing. Few are better at working a rope break than Kushida.
They showed the dark match finish. Kris Wolf & Sumie Sakai beat Deonna Purrazzo & Mandy Leon. Wolf pinned Purrazzo at the saame time Mandy Leon was pinning Sumie Sakai but Wolf and Purrazzo were legal.
YOUNG BUCKS VS. WAR MACHINE VS. CHUCK TAYLOR & TRENT BARETTA FOR ROH TAG TITLES IN A TORNADO MATCH, TAYLOR & BARETTA WERE ADDED AT THE LAST MINUTE AS WERE THE STIPS
So this was insane. It was 13:00 of insane spots one after the other. The Young Bucks retained the title when Nick did the Indy taker while Hanson & Rowe each had Baretta & Tyalor up in a piledriver position. Then after a superkicks on Rowe & Hanson, Matt pinned Taylor. The match was just nonstop moves. The crowd was going nuts the entire time, far more than anything else on the show. The timing of everything and execution was great. There were so many moves that you could never keep track of them but everyone pretty much did everything they could in a condensed version of an incredible match.
CHRISTOPHER DANIELS VS. CODY FOR ROH TITLE
Cody won the title after Daniels used a rolling revese cradle but Cody rolled through and used crossroads. Daniels had kicked out of crossroads earlier. The cowd was totally behind Cody, as it was a Bullet Club night. Cody split his lip up badly ealry in the match. Daniels was cut from the top of the head. There was a ref bump and Daniels had him pinned twice but no ref. Marty Scurll threw in a chair but Daniels took a fake bump and therw the chair to Cody but Todd Sinclair didn’t DQ Cody. Frankie Kazarian ran in for the save and fought Scurll to the back. Daniels used a back suplex off the apron through a table. Cody also did a rainmaker and the rainmaker pose to tease the match with Okada. It was hard to follow the prior match and really that match should have gone last except they wanted to end the show with the Bullet Club celebration.
The main event for Ring of Honor’s next pay-per-view is set.
ROH announced last night that Cody Rhodes will challenge for Christopher Daniels’ World Championship in the main event of Best in the World on June 23rd.
Rhodes also challenged for the title at ROH’s War of the Worlds PPV earlier this month, which was in a triple threat match that also included Jay Lethal. While Rhodes had the figure four applied on Lethal, Daniels hit the Best Moonsault Ever on Rhodes and pinned him to retain the title.
The storyline coming out of War of the Worlds was that Rhodes wanted a one-on-one match against Daniels due to Lethal’s shoulders being on the mat in the figure four. Rhodes portraying himself as an outsider will likely also play into their title match, with him recently backing off claims that he had made about being ready to make a promotion his full-time pro wrestling home.
Rhodes tweeted about the match: “31 years. 31 years since a Rhodes has been THE World Champion. June 23rd. Best in the World. Lowell, MA. Can you imagine?”
The Lowell Memorial Auditorium will host Best in the World 2017 before an ROH TV taping also takes place at the venue the next night.
H returns to traditional PPV Friday night for Best In The World, the seventh such event in company history. The event emanates from Concord, NC, the first time BITW has been held there.
Send your feedback (thumbs up/thumbs down/thumbs in the middle) to [email protected]
Headlining the show is ROH World Champion Jay Lethal vs. Jay Briscoe, a rematch from last year’s BITW event where Lethal downed Briscoe for the belt in a winner takes all match.
KYLE O’REILLY VS. KAMAITACHI
O’Reilly won with a brainbuster and armbar. Very good technically. The crowd reacted but didn’t go wild. Kamaitachi reufsed to shake hands and left. The crowd isn’t mic’d well as you can see them reactingbut dont’ hear it that well. Kamaitachi didn’t look as impressive as he usually does. But his role was to put O’Reilly over as the whole thing they pushed was how O’Reilly gets a shot at the winner of the main event tomorrow.
SILAS YOUNG VS. ACH
Yeah, we’ve got the same problem with the bad crowd micing whicnh hurts the matches. You can see people are into it and hear it lightly. This was a good match. ACH did a great springobard flip dive. Young missed a springboard move, and ACH won with jumping double knees, a brainbuster and a 450 splash.
They just introudced Jay White at ringside. He looks like a teenager in the crowd.
Mark Briscoe was hilarious on his pre-match interview.
MARK BRISCOE VS. RODERICK STRONG
With Strong leaving, Mark got the pin after a brainbuster and fisherman buster in a really good match. Strong was excellent here and Mark hung with him. Mark has shaved his head but came out with a wig to surprise Strong. Both worked at a hard pace, with Mark doing all kinds of cool stuff and Strong solid with everything he did. Mark survived the sick kick and gutbuster. Mark used a sick kick on Strong. I think if the crowd was mic’d this would have come across as excellent. Fans were chanting “Thank you Roddy” and he was shaking hands on the way out.
WAR MACHINE & MOOSE VS. YOUNG BUCKS & ADAM COLE IN A TORNADO MATCH
Excellent match. Non stop action and the crowd was pretty hot. Finish saw them use the Meltzer driver on Moose and all three kissed each other after winning. We’ll update this later because it was a crazy match with all kinds of big spots and a ton of superkicks. Once again it was hurt by the crowd micing. Hanson in particular did crazy stuff for a guy his size.
CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & FRANKIE KAZARIAN VS. CHRIS SABIN & ALEX SHELLEY FOR THE TAG TITLES
Another good match. Actually this at first had a hard time following the previous match. Kamaitachi came out and attacked Jay White at ringside. They were brawling and distracted ref Paul Turner and Daniels hit Shelley with a low blow and he was out of commission. Daniels & Kazarian then pinned Sabin after the Best Meltzer ever. You’d think at this point I was the booker and had an ego twice the size of Dusty Rhodes. Daniels & Kazarian & Kamaitachi left together so they are forming a group.
STEVE CORINO VS. B.J. WHITMER IN AN UNSACNTIONED FIGHT WITHOUT HONOR
Corino came out to Shinya Hashimoto’s theme music. Corino bleached his hair blond. The commentators said this is a match that nobody wanted to see happen. This match was crazy. It came from another era as Whitmer went to hardway him. Corino bled like crazy. Whitmer juiced and it was a bloodbath. The crowd loved it. Whitmer put Corino through a table with an exploder suplex. They beat each other with broken pieces of the table. The lights went out and Kevin Sullivan showed up, teased hitting Whitmer with the spike but instead spiked Corino and Whitmer pinned him. Because nobody does this kind of match, it really worked. They saved things like tables, never do blood like this and used rolls of quarters but didn’t over do the foreign objects like in TNA where the shots meant nothing.
BOBBY FISH VS. DALTON CASTLE FOR THE TV TITLE
Another good match. Castle dominated. Castle suplexed Fish on his head and they teased Fish being hurt, but he then went for the bang a rang and Fish turned it into a front rolling cradle for the pin.
The All Night Express and Caprice Coleman came out. They came out to Presidential music. Coleman noted they were never defeated for the titles. He claimed they had to pay for this segment. Said each watched each others back and said all three are underrated and underpaid and now they are uniting and are now the group is called The Cabinet. Coleman is the Minister of Information. Rhett Titus said this whole show has been young punks flip flying around and nobody looks like pro wrestlers, said guys need to do bench presses and squats, how the tag champs have no abs and how the Young Bucks skip leg day and keep doing superkicks. Said there is an Olympic gold medalist is selling T-shirts to make wrestling great again. The Cabinet will will make wrestling great, won’t skip leg day and will win all the gold.
JAY LETHAL VS. JAY BRISCOE FOR THE ROH TITLE
Great match. Shorter than you’d think but time got out of control. The crowd loved it, chanting “That was awesome” after the finish. Lethal retained with a diamond cutter and Lethal iinjection. So right after the match ended, they turned up the crowd mic and you could hear how loud they were. If they’d done that during the show every match would have come across better. Both shook hands after the match. Briscoe nearly go the pin earlier with the Lethal injection and Jay driller. Lethal did two tope’s in a row and Briscoe came back with two of his own and a running flip dive. A lot of near falls. Crowd may have been hottest in this match.
