AEW Dynamite viewership up slightly, 18-49 demo rating unchanged

Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite averaged 711,000 viewers on TBS, up 1.1 percent from last week. It’s the best audience total the show has done since April 17 but is Dynamite’s third-lowest viewership of 2024 so far.

Dynamite drew a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s identical to last week’s rating, tying the fourth-lowest rating Dynamite has done in 18-49 for the year to date.

The show again faced competition from the NBA and NHL playoffs on Wednesday night.

As compared to the same week in 2023 (which featured a Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley match), Dynamite was down 18.9 percent in total viewers and down 25 percent in 18-49. The 18-49 drop is Dynamite’s largest since June 28 of last year.

AEW Dynamite ratings increase slightly, Rampage up

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite averaged 703,000 viewers on TBS, up 2.9 percent from last week. It’s the second-lowest audience total the show has done since October 23, 2021.

Dynamite drew a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 4.4 percent from last week and is the third-highest rating the show has done in that category since March 20.

Last week’s Dynamite aired live on the West Coast, outside of prime time, while this episode aired in its regular time slot across the country. It did have competition from the NBA and NHL playoffs again.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 9.4 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 14.3 percent.

AEW Rampage, which immediately followed Dynamite, averaged 431,000 viewers.

That’s up 47.1 percent from last week’s episode that aired on Saturday after Collision. The last time Rampage aired following Dynamite, the show averaged 541,000 viewers on March 20th, so this was down 20.3 percent from that.

Rampage drew a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 66.7 percent from last week but is down 16.7 percent from the last Wednesday airing.

As compared to the same week in 2023, when the show aired during a Friday afternoon, Rampage’s overall viewership was up 46.6 percent while the 18-49 rating was up 66.7 percent.

AEW Dynamite draws lowest viewership since January 2021

Wednesday night’s Dynasty fallout edition of AEW Dynamite averaged 683,000 viewers on TBS. That’s down 10.4 percent from last week and marks the lowest audience total the show has done in its regular time slot since January 6, 2021, an episode that took place on the same day as the United States Capitol riot.

Dynamite drew a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 11.5 percent from last week. It matches the lowest rating the show has done in that category on a Wednesday night since June 24, 2020.

It should be noted that the episode aired live on the West Coast (outside of prime time) and experienced audio issues. It also went head-to-head with the NBA playoffs.

As compared to the same week in 2023, when Dynamite also went against the NBA, the show was down 20.9 percent in overall viewers and down 17.9 percent in 18-49.

Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 762,000 viewers on TBS, down seven percent from the previous week. It’s the third-lowest audience total the show has done so far in 2024.

Dynamite drew a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 13.3 percent from last week and also ties Dynamite’s third-lowest rating in that category this year.

The show faced competition from the NBA play-in tournament. Over the next couple of months, wrestling’s competition from the NBA will get stronger as the playoffs progress.

Dynamite beat everything on cable in the demo except for NBA-related programming.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 8.2 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 7.1 percent. Both drops are less than the decline of overall cable viewership in that same timeframe.

Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 819,000 viewers, up 8.9 percent from last week. It’s the best audience total the show has done since February 28.

Dynamite drew a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demo and finished third on the night among original programs on cable. That’s up 30.4 percent from last week and ties the highest rating the show has done in that category since January 17.

The most hyped thing on Wednesday’s show was AEW airing backstage footage of CM Punk and Jack Perry’s altercation from All In 2023.

As compared to the same week last year, Dynamite’s overall audience was down 5.4 percent while its 18-49 rating was up 7.1 percent. It’s the 21st straight week the show has had a year-over-year decline in total viewers, although the 18-49 rating was up, or steady, in eight of those weeks.

Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 747,000 viewers on TBS, down 6.6 percent from last week. It’s the lowest audience total the show has done since October 10 of last year when Dynamite was moved to a Tuesday and went head-to-head with WWE NXT.

This is Dynamite’s lowest Wednesday night viewership since April 7, 2021.

Dynamite drew a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 14.8 percent from last week and is the lowest rating Dynamite has done in that category since October 23, 2021, which was a Saturday episode. It’s Dynamite’s lowest rating on a Wednesday since June 24, 2020.

This ties the second-lowest rating the show has ever done in 18-49 on a Wednesday night.

Dynamite ranked third on cable in 18-49 this Wednesday. It finished behind two NBA games on ESPN.

AEW Dynamite ratings steady, Rampage up big

– Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 800,000 viewers on TBS, essentially the exact same as the 798,000 viewers Dynamite Big Business did last week. It’s the third-lowest audience total for the show so far in 2024.

Dynamite drew the same 0.27 rating in the 18-49 demo that it did the previous two weeks. It ties the third-lowest rating Dynamite has done in that category for the year to date.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite was down 16.1 percent in overall viewers and down 18.2 percent in 18-49. 

– AEW Rampage, which aired immediately after Dynamite on TBS this week, averaged 541,000 viewers. That’s up 65.4 percent from what it did last Friday in its regular time slot and is Rampage’s largest viewership since April 14 of last year.

Rampage drew a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 63.6 percent from last week and is also Rampage’s highest rating since the April 14, 2023 episode.

Rampage aired outside of its normal day this week due to NCAA March Madness coverage.

As compared to the same week in 2023, when it was moved to a Saturday night, Rampage’s overall audience was up 45 percent while its 18-49 rating was up 80 percent.

Dynamite drew the same 0.27 rating in the 18-49 demo as it did last week. That’s also tied for the third-lowest rating the show has done this year in that category.

Big Business featured the long-awaited AEW debut of Mercedes Mone, which was heavily teased in advance but not officially announced.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall audience was down six percent while its 18-49 rating was steady. It’s the 17th straight week the show has had a year-over-year decline in total viewers, although the 18-49 rating was up or stayed the same in seven of those weeks.

Dynamite drew a 0.29 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s the exact same rating the show did last week and ties the second-highest rating for Dynamite since January 17.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall audience was down 1.3 percent while its 18-49 rating was up 7.4 percent. It’s the 15th straight week the show has had a year-over-year decline in overall viewers. But in five of those weeks, the 18-49 rating was up year-over-year.

For the month of February, Dynamite averaged 816,500 viewers and a 0.29 rating in 18-49. That’s down from the 913,000 viewers and 0.3075 demo rating the show averaged in February 2023.

Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 811,000 viewers on TBS, up 0.8 percent from last week. It’s the second-lowest audience total for the show since January 10.

Dynamite drew a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 7.1 percent from last week and is the second-highest rating the show has done in that category so far in 2024.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite was down 1.6 percent in total viewers but up 11.1 percent in 18-49. It’s the 13th straight week the show has had a year-over-year decline in total viewers, but in five of those weeks the 18-49 rating was up or even as compared to 2023.

Dynamite was second on cable in the demo last night, trailing an NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers that began at 10 p.m. Eastern.

AEW Dynamite draws best 18-49 demo rating since Grand Slam

With the episode headlined by Samoa Joe vs. Hook, AEW Dynamite showed strong ratings growth on Wednesday night.

The episode averaged 891,000 viewers on TBS, up 12 percent from the 797,000 viewers Dynamite drew last week. This is Dynamite’s best audience total since October 18.

In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite drew a 0.33 rating. That’s up 14 percent from last week’s 0.29 rating. It’s the best number Dynamite has done in the demo since its Grand Slam episode that took place on September 20.

Dynamite was the top rated show on cable in the 18-49 demo on Wednesday.

Joe retained his AEW World Championship against Hook in Wednesday night’s main event. The match aired commercial-free.

As compared to one year ago, Dynamite was down eight percent in viewership but up 6.45 percent in the 18-49 demo.

On Thursday afternoon, Tony Khan sent out a tweet celebrating the Dynamite rating. He thanked AEW’s fans, wrestlers, and staff.

Khan also made a post teasing that 2024 is going to be amazing for AEW.
