Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Jericho announced for AEW All Out

In a high-profile match that has been quietly building for months, Bryan Danielson will take on Chris Jericho at AEW All Out.

The match was made on Wednesday’s Dynamite during the Jericho/Daniel Garcia face-to-face. After Garcia shoved down Jericho in frustration once again and left the ring, Danielson was laughing at Jericho which led to their own verbal confrontation.

Out of that verbal exchange came the challenge for “Lionheart” to face the “American Dragon” to see who is truly the best wrestler.

The two last clashed in the Anarchy in the Arena match between Danielson’s Blackpool Combat Club and the Jericho Appreciation Society where Jericho and Hager combined to put Danielson to sleep.

While the two worked various tag team matches throughout the years, they have only had three total singles matches (according to Cagematch) with Jericho winning them all. The first was back in the 2010 edition of NXT with Jericho picking up a quick victory.

FTR & Wardlow vs. Lethal, Singh & Dutt trios match set for AEW All Out

Multi-promotional tag team champions FTR and AEW TNT Champion Wardlow accepted a challenge for a trios match at next month’s All Out against Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt.

The seeds for the challenge were sown last Wednesday after Lethal issued another challenge for the TNT title following his loss at Battle of the Belts III. Wardlow came out and was backed up by the ROH, AAA and IWGP Tag Team Champions. Lethal tried to sneak in the ring, but was hit with FTR’s Big Rig move to send him packing, leading to the promo above.

Later in the show, the three appeared backstage where Cash Wheeler said if they wanted a match, all they had to do was ask. Dax Harwood then challenged Jay Lethal to a singles match on next week’s Dynamite.

It was one of two matches set up for All Out on Wednesday’s show as a title unification bout between AEW World Champion CM Punk and interim World Champion Jon Moxley was also confirmed.

Jungle Boy also challenged Christian to a match at the pay-per-view, but the two had a brawl after Christian turned him down.

AEW Trios Championship introduced on Dynamite, champions to be crowned at All Out

AEW tonight formally introduced the AEW Trios Championship.

During Wednesday’s Dynamite, it was announced that a tournament for the titles will begin soon, with the winners being crowned at All Out on September 4. It was not announced which teams would compete in the upcoming tournament.

Back in May, Tony Khan had mentioned that Khan had made Trios titles a long time ago.

“I saw Dave [Meltzer] reported it and nobody’s asked me on the record yet, but it is truthful that I have made the belts,” Khan said at the time. “I made them a long time ago, to be honest with you. They’ve never been seen, and I did have them made. I do have more championship belts in my possession that have never been unveiled than anybody might suspect.”

AEW introduced another new championship recently, the AEW All-Atlantic Championship, that has been defended on shows outside of the United States. PAC most recently defended the championship against Conor Mills on the July 23 RevPro Summer Sizzler event.

Kenny Omega/Young Bucks trios match reportedly targeted for AEW All Out

The in-ring return for former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is reportedly on the horizon.

Fightful reported the news Tuesday, following up on a Dave Meltzer note during a recent Wrestling Observer Radio that a third meeting between FTR and the Young Bucks is being held off due to a “major angle” that has yet to begin.

The tentative plans, according to Fightful, are that Omega would team with the Bucks in a trios match at the September pay-per-view. Opponents weren’t mentioned, but there is speculation it could be against current stablemates Adam Cole and reDRagon.

We have not independently confirmed the report as of this writing.

The report didn’t state whether that would be Omega’s official in-ring return.

Omega, who is rehabbing following several surgeries, told Fightful in a June interview that his original return date was the Forbidden Door pay-per-view but that he didn’t want to return too soon.

Omega has been out of action since last November’s Full Gear when he lost the AEW World title to Hangman Page.

AEW announces All Out pay-per-view for September

AEW is returning to the Chicago area for All Out week in September.

The promotion officially announced the All Out pay-per-view for Sunday, September 4 during this week’s Fyter Fest edition of Dynamite.

The NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois will again host the show. Additionally, the building will also host Dynamite and Rampage in the days leading up to All Out, with Dynamite set for Wednesday, August 31, and Rampage for Friday, September 2.

Tickets for all three shows will go on sale this Friday.

A banner in the arena rafters advertising the September 4 date was shown while the announcement was made official during Dynamite.

NOW Arena was formerly known as Sears Centre and hosted the 2021 and 2019 editions of All Out, as well as the 2018 All In PPV show. The 2020 All Out event was held in Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
