Eddie Kingston, other prominent names trying out for WWE

A number of prominent unsigned wrestlers are receiving a tryout at the WWE Performance Center this week.

In an article on WWE.com on Thursday afternoon, WWE revealed many of the wrestlers receiving tryouts and highlighted former UFC fighter Shayna Baszler and Eddie Kingston among the names. Our Dave Meltzer confirmed earlier this week that the 36-year-old Baszler would be receiving a tryout at the Performance Center.

Some of independent wrestling’s top women’s wrestlers are trying out alongside Baszler, including Heidi Lovelace, Nicole Savoy, Kimber Lee, and Su Yung. WWE also noted that a female referee is receiving a tryout, along with endurance athlete Ella Anne Kociuba.

Cedric Rougeau, the son of former WWE wrestler Jacques Rougeau, is among the male wrestlers in the group. Other male names confirmed by WWE are Jacob Fatu of the Anoa’i wrestling dynasty, Canadian tag team Jeff Parker and Matt Lee, and former Buffalo Bills fullback Corey Knox.

Shawn Michaels teaching class at WWE Performance Center

Trainees at WWE’s Performance Center will be learning from one of the most accomplished in-ring performers in professional wrestling history.

Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Shawn Michaels recently began teaching a class at the Performance Center, taking over for Terry Taylor who is out after having neck surgery. The length of Michaels’ stay hasn’t been confirmed, but he moved his family from Texas to Florida for the role within the company.

Michaels has previously been involved in training wrestlers, operating the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy that notably produced Daniel Bryan and Brian Kendrick.

Michaels retired as an active performer in 2010, concluding his Hall of Fame career in a loss to the Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. He has maintained a role with the company since and has made sporadic appearances on television. He most recently appeared at WrestleMania 32, where he banded together with Steve Austin and Mick Foley in a physical confrontation with the League of Nations.
