NXT Women’s title match set for TakeOver: WarGames

Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler will go at it once again at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, this time under a new stipulation.

Baszler, flanked by friends Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir, was being interviewed by Cathy Kelley. She brought up Sane possibly invoking her rematch clause, which Baszler didn’t seem fazed by. NXT GM William Regal then came came in, which caused Duke and Shafir to be on guard. Regal said that in fact Sane had in fact invoked her rematch clause, and this time it would be contested in a 2 out of 3 falls match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames.

Sane lost the title to Baszler at WWE Evolution last month after passing out from the kirifuda lock. The loss wasn’t without controversy as Duke and Shafir made their debut on television, attacking Sane and helping Baszler score the submission win.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames will take place on November 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Marina Shafir makes her in-ring debut at NXT house show

One of the members of the Four Horsewomen of MMA made their in-ring debut at tonight’s NXT house show in Largo, Florida.

Both Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke were advertised to wrestle in their first matches on the show, but only Shafir ended up debuting. She teamed with Nikki Cross to defeat Rhea Ripley & Aliyah. Shafir got the win for her team by submitting Aliyah.

Shafir and Duke joined Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler in WWE when they reported to the Performance Center in May after signing with the company. With her originally advertised for tonight, Duke’s debut would figure to be imminent.

Here are the full results from tonight’s show:

Estimated attendance: 250 people.

Mendoza won with a roll-up.

– Reina Gonzalez (w/ Aliyah) defeated Xia Li

Help from Aliyah got Gonzalez the win.

Cross cleaned house until the heels took back over. Gonzalez tried to get involved on behalf of Ripley and Aliyah but got taken care of by Li. Cross made the tag to Shafir, who hit a throw and submitted Aliyah with an armbar variation for the win.

Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke to make NXT in-ring debut this week

Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke will be making their pro wrestling debuts this week.

The two Four Horsewomen of MMA members will be wrestling at NXT’s house show in Largo, Florida on Thursday. They are friends and training partners of both Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, who have been making waves in WWE and NXT, respectively. Shafir was first to make the announcement on her Twitter, while Duke followed shortly after.

Both signed with WWE back in May and have been training at the Performance Center ever since. Duke, who stands at 5’11, fought in the UFC and participated in the eighteenth season of the Ultimate Fighter. She sported a 1-3 record before being cut in 2015 and stopped fighting a year later.

Shafir, who is engaged to NXT tag team champion Roderick Strong, also has a MMA background. She had a 1-3 record, having fought in Invicta in the past.

All four women were a part of an angle last year during the Mae Young Classic where they had a confrontation with the Four Horsewomen of the WWE: Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley.

Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir report to WWE Performance Center

All four members of the Four Horsewomen of mixed martial arts are now part of WWE.

WWE.com announced today that Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir have reported to the Performance Center, joining Ronda Rousey and NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler in the company.

When Baszler appeared in the Mae Young Classic last summer, Rousey, Duke, and Shafir were involved in a brief angle with WWE’s Four Horsewomen (minus Sasha Banks, who was doing media in Australia). They faced off with Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bayley in the crowd during Baszler vs. Mia Yim. Rousey then told Flair, Lynch, and Bayley to name the time and place for a match.

Shafir has already had some involvement in NXT storylines where she’s supported her fiance, Roderick Strong.

Baszler and Duke were part of Rousey’s team on The Ultimate Fighter when she coached against Miesha Tate in 2013. Shafir was also a coach on Team Rousey.

Duke has had nine professional fights, with three coming in the UFC. She has three wins, five losses, and one no contest. Shafir is 1-2 in her pro career.
