Lilian Garcia thanks fans, Triple H after surprise WWE Raw appearance

Lilian Garcia is thankful for the reception she received for her surprise appearance on Monday night’s WWE Raw.

Briefly returning to her old ring announcing role for a one-off appearance, Garcia introduced Kofi Kingston for a King of the Ring quarterfinal match against Gunther on Raw last night. Garcia also got to share a moment with Samantha Irvin, who currently serves as the lead ring announcer for WWE.

After the appearance, Garcia made a post on X/Twitter thanking the fans for the support they showed her.

Garcia first joined WWE in 1999 and had two separate stints with the company until departing WWE in 2016. She’s been back for occasional appearances since then, and her old Chasing Glory podcast was featured on the WWE Network in 2020.

Monday’s Raw was held in South Carolina, which is where Garcia currently lives. On her Instagram stories, Garcia explained that she went to Raw just to say hello to everyone. The next thing she knew, she was part of the show. Garcia thanked Paul “Triple H” Levesque for including her.

“I just stopped by to say hi to everybody. Next thing you know, I was on the show,” Garcia said. “It was so much fun. Triple H, thank you so much for including me in the show. Doing that with Samantha was so awesome. And all the fans and the reception that I got, you guys are amazing. I miss you. I’m just so glad that I can pop in every now and then. I hope you guys had fun tonight because there’s nothing like a live Raw event. Until next time, I love you.”

Garcia is a singer and has also previously done ring announcing for the Professional Fighters League MMA organization.

Gunther defeated Kingston last night to advance in the King of the Ring tournament. It will be Gunther vs. Jey Uso in a semifinal match on Raw next week.

Lilian Garcia makes surprise appearance on WWE Raw

Lilian Garcia appeared on WWE Raw.

The longtime WWE announcer appeared as a surprise during Monday’s show in Greenville, South Carolina with current Raw ring announcer Samantha Irvin introducing Garcia and asking her if she would like to announce the next match. She thanked Irvin, saying she’s been doing an incredible job before introducing Kofi Kingston to the ring for his King of the Ring quarterfinal match against Gunther.

Garcia joined WWE in 1999, taking over for Howard Finkel as the ring announcer for Raw, and would eventually become the brand’s lead ring announcer. She retired in 2009 after ten years, but made her return in 2011, this time becoming the announcer for the SmackDown brand. She continued in that role until leaving WWE again in 2016.

In recent years, Garcia has reappeared to ring announce the finals of the Mae Young Classic in 2017 and also ring announced at WWE Evolution, the first-ever women-only WWE pay-per-view event the following year.

Lilian Garcia joins PFL as ring announcer

Lilian Garcia has joined the Professional Fighters League as an in-cage announcer.

Garcia signing with the mixed martial arts promotion was announced during her appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show today. Garcia noted that she’ll still be able to make special appearances for WWE as long as they don’t conflict with the 10 shows that the PFL has this season.

The PFL announced a two-year broadcast deal with ESPN this February, with content airing on ESPN2, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes. The promotion uses a season model and has a regular season, playoffs, and championship.

“It’s no secret that I LOVE combat sports so now getting to be a part of the MMA world by introducing these amazing fighters in the ring who are fighting hard for an opportunity of a TITLE and ONE MILLION DOLLARS in EACH Division, is going to be unbelievably exciting,” Garcia wrote on Instagram.

This PFL season will begin on Thursday, May 9. The championship event will take place on New Year’s Eve (December 31).

Garcia hosts a podcast called “Chasing Glory” and regularly interviews WWE wrestlers and personalities on the show. She departed her full-time role with WWE in 2016 to care for her father before he passed away.

Garcia appeared at WrestleMania 35 earlier this month as the guest ring announcer for the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.

Lilian Garcia named guest ring announcer for WM battle royal

For a match at WrestleMania 34, Lilian Garcia will be returning to ring announcing for WWE.

WWE announced today that Garcia will be the guest ring announcer for the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal on April 8th. Garcia tweeted about the news: “Words can’t describe how honored & excited I am to be announcing the 1st ever Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal! To be back w/ the VERY talented @WWE female Superstars & all of you the @WWEUniverse is priceless! Can’t wait to see you all!”

Garcia departed WWE in 2016 to be with her father, who passed away later that year, as he was battling cancer. She has made appearances for the company since leaving her full-time position and hosts a show on PodcastOne that usually features interviews with WWE wrestlers.

The battle royal will include entrants from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, and Sasha Banks, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Natalya, Naomi, and Becky Lynch have already been confirmed for it. The match was originally going to be named after the Fabulous Moolah, but the name was changed after fan backlash and a response from the parent company of Snickers (the presenting sponsor of WrestleMania 34).

Lilian Garcia leaving WWE

After an absence earlier this year caused speculation about her employment with the company, Lilian Garcia will officially be leaving WWE to help take care of her ailing father.

The ring announcer posted on Instagram this afternoon that she will no longer be traveling weekly with WWE and will look for work closer to home.

She began her career with WWE in 1999 and has had a lengthy stay in her role as ring announcer while occasionally participating in other capacities. Garcia originally left WWE in 2009 before returning in 2011. She has been a constant on WWE broadcasts for the better part of the last 17 years.

Garcia has been sporadically absent from shows this year to care for her father who is fighting two different types of cancer, and is now leaving her role in WWE so she can stay closer to home and have time to spend with him.

Garcia posted the following on Instagram:

“I’ve been getting a lot of tweets and messages asking where I have been and if I’m coming back to WWE, so I wanted to let you know what has been going on and why I have been silent. I’ve been through so many emotions lately that they literally have kept me up at night.

As most of you know, my father has been battling with two different types of cancer. He hasn’t been doing as well as we hoped, THEREFORE, I will not be traveling weekly with WWE any longer. I will be looking to take on work closer to where I live so that I don’t have to be on the road weekly away from him.

He truly needs me, and I need this time with him. I ask that you please continue prayers for my father and my family.”
