AEW Dynamite viewership up, 18-49 demo rating down

Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite episode averaged 637,000 viewers on TBS, up 0.6 percent from last week. It’s the second-lowest audience total the show has done in its regular time slot since August 7.

Dynamite drew a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down five percent from last week and matches the lowest rating the show has done in that category on its normal night since July 31.

The show went head-to-head with NBA basketball on ESPN and the NHL on TNT as well as a CNN Town Hall with presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 17.7 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 20.8 percent. Those numbers did hold up better than in recent weeks where the declines were closer to 30 percent in both categories.

AEW Dynamite ratings rebound for WrestleDream fallout episode

Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite averaged 633,000 viewers on TBS, up 92.4 percent from last week when the show was moved to Tuesday. The viewership is down 6.9 percent from two weeks ago when Dynamite last aired in its normal time slot and is the lowest audience total the show has done on a Wednesday since August 7.

Dynamite drew a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demo, doubling last week’s Tuesday episode that went partially against WWE NXT. Dynamite was sixth on the prime time cable charts but tied the second-lowest rating the show has done since September 4.

The show went head-to-head with both the NBA playoffs and WNBA Finals last week as well as an interview with presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Fox News.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall audience was down 29.7 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 35.5 percent.

AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday draws record-low ratings

Last night’s Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite — airing outside of the show’s normal day and time slot — averaged 329,000 viewers on TBS. That’s down 51.6 percent from last week and is the lowest audience in Dynamite’s history.

The episode drew a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 50 percent from last week. It’s also the lowest rating Dynamite has ever done.

In addition to being moved to Tuesday, Dynamite started one hour later than usual. It went head-to-head with NXT during its first hour and also had competition from the MLB playoffs and the start of the NHL season.

Last year’s Title Tuesday Dynamite averaged 609,000 viewers and drew a 0.26 rating in 18-49. The overall viewership for that episode was about 2/3 of NXT’s viewership going head-to-head for the full two hours, while the 18-49 rating was 86 percent of NXT’s. This year, Dynamite’s overall audience was just over 1/3 of NXT’s and the 18-49 rating was 41.7 percent of NXT’s.

Wednesday night’s fifth anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite averaged 680,000 viewers on TBS, down 3.1 percent from last week. It’s the lowest audience total for the show since September 4 and ties Dynamite’s sixth-lowest viewership of 2024.

Dynamite finished seventh on the prime time cable charts with a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 13 percent from last week and is the fifth-lowest rating the show has done in that category so far this year. It’s the lowest rating for Dynamite since the September 4 episode.

The show went head-to-head with an MLB playoff game on ESPN that topped all of television last night with a 0.87 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.69 million overall viewers.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 15 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 28.6 percent.

Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite, the annual Grand Slam episode, averaged 702,000 viewers on TBS. That’s up 2.2 percent from last week and is the second-highest audience total for the show since August 14.

Dynamite drew a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demo, up 4.6 percent from last week. It ties the best rating the show has done in that category since August 21.

The show went head-to-head with a Connecticut Sun vs. Indiana Fever WNBA playoff game, featuring Caitlin Clark, that averaged 2.54 million viewers.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 17.9 percent while the 18-49 rating was down by the same percentage. Grand Slam aired a week earlier in 2023, so this was down 28.7 percent in overall viewers and down 36.1 percent in the 18-49 demo from last year’s special.

Wednesday night’s edition of AEW Dynamite averaged 687,000 viewers on TBS, down 4.1 percent from last week. It’s the second-lowest audience total for the show since August 7.

Dynamite finished second on the prime time cable charts — and sixth overall on television — with a 0.22 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 4.8 percent from last week and is the best rating the show has done in that category since August 28.

There was no major sports competition on the night, although Dynamite did go head-to-head with the season premiere of Survivor, which topped all of television with a 0.73 rating in 18-49. The Survivor episode averaged more than 4.7 million viewers.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s viewership was down 30.2 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 38.9 percent.

Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 716,000 viewers on TBS, up 8.5 percent from last week. It’s the best audience total for the show since July’s Blood & Guts episode.

Dynamite finished second on the prime time cable charts with a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demo, only trailing the MTV Video Music Awards. Dynamite was up 10.5 percent from last week in that category, but this is still the second-lowest rating the show has done since August 7.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite was down 19.4 percent in overall viewers and down 32.3 percent in 18-49, so the audience skewed older this year. It’s the 22nd straight week the show has been down year-over-year in both categories.

Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 660,000 viewers on TBS, down 5.3 percent from last week. It’s the lowest viewership total for the show since August 7 and is Dynamite’s fourth-lowest of the year to date.

Dynamite finished fifth for the day on the cable charts with a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 17.4 percent from last week and ties the lowest rating the show has done in that category since July 31. It’s Dynamite’s third-lowest rating of 2024 so far.

The show aired head-to-head with US Open tennis on ESPN, which finished second on the charts with a 0.26. Other than that, there was no other major sports competition on the night.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 25.6 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 38.7 percent. It’s the 21st straight week the show has had a year-over-year decline in both categories.

AEW Dynamite ratings hold steady for All In fallout episode

Editor’s note: WBD issued an internal correction on Friday, adding roughly 6000 viewers to the total number. The previous number accounted for three extra minutes of the overrun for the following show.

Wednesday night’s All In fallout episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 697,000 viewers on TBS, nearly even with last week’s 698,000.

It’s the lowest audience total for the show since August 7 when it went head-to-head with Summer Olympics coverage.

Dynamite topped the prime time cable charts with a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down four percent from last week and is the lowest rating the show has done since the August 14th episode (also a 0.23). It’s the seventh week out of the last 12 that Dynamite has averaged between 680,000 and 703,000 viewers and between a 0.22 and 0.24 rating in the key demo.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 20 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 23.3 percent. It’s the 41st straight week that Dynamite has had a year-over-year decline in total viewers.

Wednesday night’s All In go-home episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 698,000 viewers on TBS, down 0.7 percent from the previous week. It’s still the second-highest audience total for the show since July’s Blood & Guts special.

In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite drew a 0.24 rating. That’s up 4.4 percent from last week and is the third-best rating the show has done in that category since June 5.

The show went head-to-head with coverage of the Democratic National Convention on various networks which dominated the cable and broadcast charts.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 19.8 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 25 percent. It’s the 40th straight week that Dynamite has had a year-over-year decline in total viewers.

This was AEW’s Cardiff, Wales debut. Due to the time difference, Dynamite was taped in advance earlier in the day.

In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite ranked first on cable for the day with a 0.23 rating. That’s up 21.1 percent from last week and is also the highest rating the show has done in that category since Blood & Guts.

With the Olympics now over, there was no major sports competition for Dynamite and the show was back to the levels it was doing once the NBA playoffs ended. Four of the five weeks between June 12 and July 10, Dynamite averaged between 680,000 and 691,000 viewers with either a 0.22 or 0.23 rating in 18-49.

Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite episode averaged 622,000 viewers on TBS, up 2.1 percent from last week. It’s the third-lowest audience total the show has ever done on a Wednesday night, with all three of those episodes coming in the last eight weeks.

In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite drew a 0.19 rating. That’s up 5.6 percent from last week but is the second-lowest 18-49 demo rating in Dynamite history regardless of night or time slot.

For the second straight week, Dynamite went head-to-head with the Olympics on NBC, USA Network and Peacock. There will be no Olympics competition next week with the event ending this Sunday.

As compared to the same week in 2023, against lesser competition, Dynamite’s overall viewership was down 26.5 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 34.5 percent.

Against strong competition from the Olympic Games, Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS averaged 609,000 viewers, down 22.5% from the previous week.

It’s the lowest audience the show has done since June 19th and the second lowest the show has ever done on a Wednesday night.

The show averaged a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 30.8% from last week and the lowest rating it has done in that category since the June 19th episode and second lowest in the show’s history, regardless of the night it aired.

The show aired head-to-head against Olympic coverage on NBC, USA Network and Peacock which have had a negative effect on wrestling numbers since the Games started last Friday.

Compared to the same week in 2023, overall viewership was down 31.9% while the 18-49 rating was down 41.9%.

The last time Dynamite aired against the summer Olympics was for two weeks in 2021 when it averaged 979,000 viewers and 975,000 viewers respectively for the two weeks with a 0.35 rating in the 18-49 demo both week. They were the only two weeks between July 14th and October 6th where the show was below 1.05 million viewers or a 0.37 demo.

Wednesday night’s Blood & Guts episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 786,000 viewers on TBS, down 1.1 percent from the previous week. It’s the second-highest audience total the show has done since June 5.

In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite drew a 0.26 rating. That’s down 3.7 percent from last week but is also the second-highest rating the show has done in that category since June 5. It’s the third-best rating Dynamite has drawn going back to April 10.

The start of the episode went head-to-head with a national address from President Joe Biden about his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race. The address aired across many networks on both cable and network TV.

As compared to the same week in 2023 (which was one week later than Blood & Guts), Dynamite was down 12.5 percent in overall viewers and down 10.3 percent in the 18-49 demo. It was down 17.5 percent overall and down 23.5 percent in 18-49 from the 2023 edition of Blood & Guts.

Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite averaged 795,000 viewers on TBS, up 15.1 percent from last week. It’s the best audience total for the show since April 10.

This was the 250th episode of Dynamite. It featured a nearly hour-long opening match with MJF defeating Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship.

In the 18-49 demo, the show finished seventh on the prime time cable charts with a 0.27 rating. That’s up 17.4 percent from last week and is the best rating Dynamite has done in that category since June 5.

Dynamite went head-to-head with coverage of the Republican National Convention on various channels as well as an Indiana Fever WNBA game on ESPN and the season premiere of Big Brother on CBS.

As compared to the same week in 2023, Dynamite’s overall audience was down 16.6 percent while its 18-49 rating was down 20.6 percent. It’s the 35th straight week that Dynamite has had a year-over-year decline in total viewers.
